The dilemma is, there are not many full frame 4K cameras with both great AF and great color.
The Sigma Fp is great for the price though and really a company I can support.
    Engineering led
    Not bullshit led
The Sony A9 used is worth a look, funnily enough I find it has the most mojo of the Sony cameras and the 4K image is incredibly detailed, and great AF. I prefer it to A7 III even though the latter is cheaper and has S-LOG.
Panasonic also worth a look, but AF is still a bit of a handicap.
Looking at G9 improvements though with firmware 2.4 that'll soon be a thing of the past?

    Thanks, Andrew—
My own experience with canon has been also tainted. I became interested in digital photography in 2017, and opted for the 6D Mark ll— with neophytes knowledge of video. At that time, seemed to be the best all purpose entry level full frame option— at flash Black Friday sale impulse-buy price. At that time, the Sony A7 III hadn’t been released yet— and the A7R II was over my budget. That marked my entry into the Canon universe. After leaning into the video side, I soon realized that someday a budget filmmaker oriented Canon mirrorless— hybrid body— would make the most sense for me. But since 2017, the waiting never ends. The R line is either too expensive, or kneecapped— Canon hasn’t marketed an affordable body, or lens selection that an aspiring artist/filmmaker could grow into a professional environment with. So here I am, with a couple of great Sigma EF prime lenses— plotting my next move. One thing I know for sure is that Canon’s marketing approach has me seriously looking elsewhere, (like the Sigma Lp)— before investing in the troubled R system.

Hi, Andrew— just a bystander point of view— is your website due a name change, like Cinema 5D recently did? Also, maybe returning the R5 & starting fresh would be best. I’m not a mental health professional, but seems you have a lot a negative emotions tied to Canon, which are in a downward spiral. If you changed the name to something that is more neutral, perhaps you could move on in a more healthy way— without being associated with aspects of Canon you— and many others— feel  antipathetic to.  Best wishes, whatever life takes you

Doctor, doctor. Help me, I'm crazy.
Doctor: What is it Andrew? Divorce? Famine? Starvation? War?
    Ah it's just Canon.
    Doctor: Ah. Ok.
    They keep cripple hammering things.
    Doctor: Next patient!

Yes the 7D is also good.

Disclaimer is things may have changed a bit since... development on the cheapest cameras 50D and 5D2 seem to have been more of a focus than some of the others including the 7D with it's tricky dual CPU setup.
Even some of the SD card cameras are now shooting pretty well in RAW thanks to the 10bit mode.
    https://www.eoshd.com/2017/06/enabling-10bit-raw-video-mini-canon-100d/
    Update:
    Ah, I see the 50D now does "3744x1080 23.976fps /w realtime preview". That's in 10bit RAW.
It's a crop mode though, so not Super 35mm full width of the sensor. And the aspect ratio is whacky.
The good thing about the 5D2 is the 3K crop mode is S35-ish... around 1.86x.
The 5D3 is king with the 3.5K / 1.5x RAW crop mode but more expensive than a used 5D2, by upward of $1000 difference.
For 2K cinema like an Alexa, the full frame look is what I use most on the 5D2 and 5D3 and here there's less difference than you'd think! Both very nice!
The article wanted to focus on dead cheap stuff $200 to $1000.
Of course if you spend more, you can get a Pocket 4K, or a GH5S, Canon 1D C or even a Nikon Z6 with RAW output (coming soon)... and so on... But I still think there is a lot to be said for the down and dirty older cameras and how cinematic they are.
