My pleasure and I hope there is something helpful in there. If I was in your shoes I would go C50 as well. I also agree and hope Nikon can address some of the short coming via firmware, they have been good about this in the past. Please keep us up to date with your thoughts and findings.

I apologize for the delay, before I expand, I have to say Kye in a note above said it best. In general I don't find -For me and what I shoot- the ZR get's out of the way and just works, I'm not brand new to Nikon yet find the menu diving a bit of a pain, I also can't understand why I can't assign some common used settings to the first quick menu. Getting a card out once you rigged your camera is a nightmare, have to move the whole thing off and pull off anything on the base to access the card. See below on set's like this it's a bit of a mess and you then have to spend time and make sure your camera is back to the right place! Another challenge is the tragic H265, I shot a small table top for Sephora the other day and couple of mini clips ended up at 293 GIGs, would have shot it on H265 if it was fine, absolutely no need for red code in a perfectly lit set. I normally shoot on cameras that just do what they need to do and that's all there is to it, we don't even really think much about the camera during the shoot, for my experience so far the ZR isn't that camera! Again this is just me, I'm sure there are people who love using the ZR and that's excellent 🙂 Edit: spelling!

Good convo so far, I shoot on Lumix FF, Fuji XH2S and stills on Canon. Have had a lot of Sony's in the past (actually think the FX30 is a fantastic overlooks body if you don't need super High ISO) Bought a ZR on a whim, - to my taste- the H265 is unusable, and the RED code files are massive. There are way too many quality of life issues (like extracting the CFB card once there is a cage on the body) that really ruin it for me! For what you have listed I think the C50 is great or look for a used FX3, still a solid camera today.

Pretty nice, they need to bring it to the Pyxis 6K

I think you are right on the money, I only have one XH2s which I got mostly for a one client, The bulk of my video work is on the Lumix's. After the firmware crisis, I never fully trust the AF and have opted to always manually focus. I also agree with you, Fuji just abandoned the XH2s, they could have at least given us shutter angle, waveforms..... anything via firmware! I know they probably want all of us to run out and buy an Eterna but that's just not the right camera for what we do so no thank you.

Excellent insight, Thank you for the write up!

Chris and Jordan throwing Sigma Bf and Fuji X-Half under the bus

So true, I find myself shooting way more random snaps with this camera than any other camera I own, and it's fun! Ditto, Couldn't agree more! I only use my phone camera for visually documenting something! -

well as an X-Half owner I have to say, it's a very fun camera to use, overpriced, yes! A bunch of years back, they voted the Canon XC-10 the worst camera and lens of the year, and to date that camera did so well for me and paid for itself over and over again! I don't shoot puddles! am -
I find the timing for this article pretty funny, I was recently re-working a few files from my old E-m1x and was reminded of how much I liked the look and feel of them, Yes they are technically inferior to the current generation but there is something about them. So just picked up an OM system brand Olympus OM1 and 12-40 this past weekend..... waiting for them to arrive from Japan!

Enjoy, I really liked my time with my S1R (and onto the S1R2 now)
-
I also find this quite baffling, this camera in a FX2 body would have been a great move! I don't get it!
-
I couldn't agree more, Most of my stills now are on the S1R2 and the files are fantastic. Only step up for me would be a GFX100II. I don't think any of the typical reviews can address this, I think you have to shoot and work on files for a few months to get a good feel for what you can do (and can't do) with them.

ARRI closing up shop, needs a buy-out - maybe Sony?
ArashM replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
As far as their lighting goes, since about 2 years ago I've been seeing Aputure and Nanlite products trickle in on big film sets, I think this was bound to happen. Also IMHO I don't see a single camera company fit to take up Arri! -
it started happening faster in hotter conditions, 24-27C, but still happens at around 20C. When I narrowed it down to the card being the issue, I would just leave the camera running on my table while doing post work, and would regularly fill up the card or run out of battery with the Delkin or OWC without any warning, but with the Lexar card about 10-12 minutes in, the heat warning sign would come on, and it would terminate recording in about 20 min or so. PS Should add the cards that cuz thermal issues for me are 128GB gold Lexar Cards

Man that H265 doesn't look all that great beside the other formats
-
10-1 not to be mistaken for 10-20
-
I think you are a 100% on the money, there was probably confusion with the ZF, which indeed does carry that card set up. Truthfully I have no idea how Red code and SD/Mirco SD can work out!
-
Canon Should try any current Lumix camera for hand held IBIS work. They are very good and there is a good portion of what I shoot now where I don't have to be on a gimbal!
-
sigh!!!!

So is that the S9 then?

Thank you for sharing, somehow I don't see all this in a tiny little body pictured above! don't get me wrong, would love it if they can do it.... But!!!!!
