  1. I spoke with the gentleman I buy my gear from at the local store here in Toronto, He is also pretty sure these are new post Tariff pricing! I'm guessing there is no point comparing pricing between brands until all of them raise to counter tariffs... (sigh)
  2. Are these prices reflecting Tariffs?
  3. The single most anything thing with the S5iiX is the 60p Crop, if the new S1ii fixes that, then sign me up for 2 bodies! (32 bit float will be the cherry on top)
  4. I'm saying this respectfully to everyone else's opinion here, but there is a lot of difference between spec and actual usage. The S1Rii has been a dream so far in use, sure the body is not as elevated feeling as the OG, but in actual use it's probably one of my all time fav overall. The sensor output is fantastic, See below, this was a random snap and just for fun I decided to see if it could be salvaged (excuse the messy house/ I have 2 little kids), Results are better than anything I've ever shot with except for maybe the GFX series, (but very close) As well the sensor for my liking just sings with my vintage glass, the portrait is with a 58 Hellios from a commercial shoot. I know they may be lack lustre on the spec page, but in actual use, they just deliver.... hence I have more Lumix's in my bag along with a canon and fuji!
  5. Totally agree, somehow the jump from 24-28 feels way more than just 4mm for me. 20-60 / 2.8 or 4.0 would have been very welcomed. I only got the 20-60 as a kit at the time of purchase, the body only was not available. I Figured it would just sit in the box until I sold the body, but surprisingly I have used it way more than I ever anticipated using a slow split aperture lens!
  6. You are right, I kinda missed that. Honestly, the part I don't understand is that most editors are now on Devinci, Yet no one would entertain using B-Raw, everyone is stuck on ProRes!
  7. There is nothing wrong with Braw, one bit! however EVERY single edit house we ship footage to only accepts Prores LT or ProRes, so it would have to be a transcode, which if you have time is not an issue (but then why shoot raw and not use any of it's advantages) but in very quick turn around situations when you have to hand off a drive, Braw is not possible! These are challenges where you are part of a much bigger production, but if you are a solo shooter and cut your own work, then it's absolutely not an issue!
  8. It's true, on it's own I think it's a fine camera and I've enjoyed it so far, but it is not a true replacement for the S1R, That camera felt much more elevated and bar non, one of my favourite so far!
  9. Sorry and thank you for the correction, yes the 24-70
  10. I'm running the camera and 7" Hollyland monitor off one V-mount, recording internally to a Lexar 512 silver CFexpress card. The camera battery is in the grip but fully charged. Camera is powered via usb-c and we are indoors so far about 20-21 C. The clips/takes are about 30 - 45 minutes each per interview. I *THINK* the overheating would be at extreme use, ( I have never had to shoot anything at 6k 60p or 120p in Pro Res HQ for 2 hours + in one take.....) but no issue so far with anything that I think is "normal" use!
  11. I'm going to keep this short as it's still early days. So far I've been very happy with my S1rii, the files (stills + Video) are really great, the C1 tethering (FINALLY) is great. It cuts with my two S5iix footage very nicely, and I haven't had a hint of overheating shooting 2+ hour talking head stuff, (4K 24 MOV) Battery hasn't been that bad or great for me! The RS is there if you move the camera very fast but nothing that I shoot requires that (YMMV). I can also report that the Sigma 24-70 L mount works perfectly on it, this is the first non brand L-mount on the Lumix for me and I had some concerns from reading some reports, but knock on wood, so far it's been fine! Overall, very happy so far.....
  12. The whole situation is kinda blowing my mind! (specially being Canadian)
  13. I pick mine up from the store on Monday, excited to check out my own files.
  14. This is the only way for me to test out a new camera, shoot along the normal and see how the new camera compares against the same footage!
  15. At least for me the AF works and works and then out of the blue decides to just lock on some where out of the focus box and refuse to let go, or keep focus on the subject ( not just people ) but slightly in front or behind. Funny enough when I had the GH4 and GH5 I used AF, but always know when to just not bother and flip over to MF!
  16. I think we have to keep in mind that we all shoot different things and use and set up cameras in different ways. I have no care who's name is on the top of the camera in my hand and have always used multiple brands at the same time, currently have 1x R6ii, 2x S5iiX and 1x Fuji XH-2s, I have shot Lumix and Canon for like ever, so naturally feel a lot more at home with them, however always curious so will rent gear to try out and sometimes shoot along with main rig on gigs to have identical footage to judge later. I found the Z6iii and the Z8 AF inconsistent, they have a tendency to try to find what's closest to the camera and I had lots of shots where on a talking head either the nose or ear is sharp, the camera will maintain focus and not jump back and forth, the eye AF box is locked on the eye but after import when you look closely the focus point is a few centimetres behind or in front of the eye. Again, it could be how I set up cameras, and I'm sure there are people out there that love their Z8/9 or 6iii... @Andrew I see your other post, You are right, the Z line does have a lot going for it which is why I have been renting them on shoots, (there is no replacement for using the camera on an actual shoot) But it just didn't quite hit it out of the park the way I was hoping for me.
  17. Yes absolutely, that's terrible, THEY should sort it out, not you!
  18. The Z8 was a bit of a no go for me, never quite got the AF to work consistantly and while on paper it ticks all the boxes, in use it just was a bit of a let down for me and how I use it.
  19. I shot with a A74 for a year and a half along with my other gear, and have had 2 S5iix since they were released. Will take an S5iix body over the A7 line any day of the week. My big challenge with the S5iix was the st*^&d flipped out screen would jam against all 4 ports which stops it from any rotation. The S1Rii solved that with the new screen design. the APS-C crop for 60p is also a bit of a pain in the backend. I've done very well with the S5iix, and looking forward to receiving my S1Rii.
  20. This must be a regional thing, DHL is solid and I've had a great track record with them
  21. I see, Thank you so much for your thoughts
  22. @Jahleh Thank you for posting, wondering why did you go over to the Z6iii with mostly having a Lumix kit ?
  23. Not what I was expecting but kinda intriguing!!!
