  1. Atomos own site says 150mins for a 1TB AtomX drive at HQ - too late, already bought option 2 and skipped the Ninja for the Shogun.
  2. I am having a really hard deciding between these two setups. As I am probably going to be on the gimbal 70-80% of the time, I have to consider that. 1. Ninja V +Cage + WD kit + Ronin RSC2 Basic kit - $1335, and I can't use RavenEye on the RSC2, only 150mins record time at HQ. 2. Shinobi + Cage + RSC2 Pro kit + 2x more (i have 5)V90 Prograde Cards ~ $1390 but I have RavenEye, and 400 mins of record time, only at 400mbit HEVC. I lean toward 2, because of how much I use gimbals for my workflow, but also having a robust codec is important to me.
  3. Almost done! Ninja is coming this week, so I am excited. Gunna put it on top of the mini handle dead center. Footage is fantastic out of this kit lens, total clean and colors are great. Adapting my Resolve Powergrade to Fuji has been a struggle, so probably going to start that over from scratch entirely, but worth it. Thinking of getting a new gimbal to replace my AK4500. Not going to lie, was extremely let down with that product. It simply is not smooth. The new Ronin RSC2 seems like a great fit.
  4. Oh I would bet. From what I can see, is this around 27MB a second at 422HQ?
  5. Thank you again! This is extremely helpful. I was just weary of getting the wrong drive, as Atomos's guide was super vague. Yea 899$ is sounding like a rip now, gunna quote myself all of this stuff and see how it all looks.
  6. So I am seeing a few different versions of those WD Blue SSD's. Atomos's chart just says "Blue" so I do not wanna mess that up. Does it require anything else or can it just be added on? B&H sells that kit with the SSD's and batteries and seems like an OK deal at 899.
  7. Extremely helpful thank you! What preamp is that? It is nice and small.
  8. Big time resurrection here., just want to be respectful and not start another thread. I can only assume in the last 24 months, these issues are now non-issues with HDMI cables and formats. Is there a "BUY THIS HDMI CABLE FOR ZERO ISSUES" link anyone has? Zero mood to mess around with any of this, so I will just buy the correct one the first time around. Same goes for SSD's. The ATOMX seems like the obvious choice , but that extremely vague Atomos chart mentions the WD blue models, which I have wholesale cost access too, so I could get them for nothing. I have too many of the big boy NPF batteries and charging docks, so I am set there.
  9. I totally agree with you when I used adapted glass, when I rented the XF stuff it was on-par with my A73 in my own tests, of course. I could be way off base.
  10. Very cool. Did not know that. Most of the features of these new gimbals, just stop start, and charging sounds awesome. Can these new Ronin's mount a monitor like the Ninja on it? I have a Fieyu-tech (spelling?) that even fully charged is just not... stable. No amount of tweaking has ever made it work really well so I have given up on it. Trying to plan out kitting the XT3 right now is a total pain. I have everything BUT audio figured out, but well see when it all gets here.
  11. Hello everyone. Recently decided to take the XT3 off the shelf and kit it out for run and gun filmmaking. Few questions on rigging, and I need a second or third opinion. 1. Rigging. I currently have a P4K entirely caged out with V-mount battery, monitor , and shotgun mic (NTG5). I really like that setup, but wouldn't mind if it was much smaller. I have the battery grip for the XT3 but it makes it quite tall, and you also can't charge the internal battery with it, so I need to take 2x chargers everywhere I go just for the body. The Anker has about 5 batteries worth of charge on it, so I would love to use that. 2. I am 33/33/33 tripod, gimbal and handheld. I have OIS lenses for handheld, and a Ronin RSC2 on the way, so I think we are good there. It mostly relates to ^^. I want to kit out this camera to make it truly usable for mobile filmmaking, but adding large cages and power supplies seem like the opposite direction.
  12. Great point. Totally outfitting the Fuji for hybrid shooting is probably the best bet. So can the Fuji be charged by a Ronin RSC? since I do 50/50 gimbal and tripod work I would definitely want to make sure I could switch from other the other and still maintain consistent power and audio.
  13. I think I might have to sell a lens or two and get some native glass.
  14. It could always be transcoded right?
  15. But 1 quick question.. am I reading this right that the S5 outputs 5.9K RAW to the NinjaV? Is there a catch to that?
  16. You’re actually right Mark. I probably shouldn’t be making this upgrade. matching the cameras I have isn’t hard and the PQ is excellent out of both. I got into Color grading as a hobby and just learned Resolve by studying Juan Melara and Marc Weilage on their forum posts and i sold my a6500 for the XT3. The a6500 photos kinda sucked but the XT3 is just fantastic in that realm. my only real gripe (if you can even call it that, is that I never really trusted it on a gimbal (AF for concerts) and was a god shitty awful at framing and manually focusing the Pocket4k with one hand on a gimbal. Just can’t do it to a level where I’d take someone’s money in exchange for it. Hence my search. If I were to sell both of my cameras and put that cash toward a modern ff mirror less that can honestly achieve the PQ of the P4K but the ease of use, storage and AF capability of a native lens system then I was all ears. however it doesn’t appear there is anything on the market that would justify it at this point. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
  17. You definitely understand my stuggle right now! I do have the XT3, its my main photo camera and I love it. I have never updated it so I will give that a good scouts try today. After reading through, it seems like if there was a S5 that existed that had RAW output and a significantly improved AF that would be my ticket. Maybe a MK2.
  18. I know its a joke, but genuinely this is what I do alot of for local musicians and artists lol This is a great photo to depict it as well!
  19. Agree, I still have the occasional freakout. But the thing is, Im so bad at operating the gimbal and framing the shot and pulling focus at the same time that it rarely gets used. If I am outside I can stop down to 5.6 on the Zeiss and it is easier but not much. Still very large and unwieldy.
  20. So funny enough, this is actually what I am using when I fly the P4K on the Ronin. I'm very bad at juggling framing and focus and where im stepping. It was actually using this very setup, P4K+FF+Ronin that made me realize I hate this and need AF. Maybe I just need to practice even more. I unfortunately have never done a shoot with the budget for a 1st AC. So audio, all cameras, lighting is typically 100% me. This is a small-ish town in the midwest so there is not much to choose from.
  21. The S5 + 28-70 Sigma has really seemed like an awesome option especially if there is a firmware update planned for RAW.
  22. AF is hit or miss for me only if there is someone behind the subject. It was never able to tell which face was closer.
  23. Hello all! For various reasons, I put down the rigs at the end of 2019 and in the last few weeks I have picked them back up for some short films and small events here in town and I got the itch again. One of the reasons I put down my cameras was I felt I was limited in mobility. When I used an a6500 on a DJI Ronin S I felt I could go anywhere and film anything because of the size/weight and the AF. I upgraded to XT3's and a BMPCC4K to gain a PQ upgrade, but my functionality of what I was able to do really went down and I actually lost gigs over it, especially with the P4K, when it was a dolly or sticks it was perfect but SO MUCH of the work I was called for was on a gimbal or handheld and it just doesn't fit that bill for me. Felt like a total idiot too!! Huge gear upgrade that actually made it harder to get gigs and thus pay off the gear! So If I am going to do this again, I want to do it right. When I worked my best and my gear became a creative extension of me, was with my small Sony's and gimbal, but the PQ wasn't there. I am sure in the last year or so there have been some major upgrades in this industry but going on Youtube to find some honest reviews is tough. Is there a modern equivalent that offers similar PQ to the P4K, only small enough to be flown with reliable AF so I can just focus on the story and not gear? Thank you everyone...
  24. I picked up a Zeiss Distagon 25f2 T* and it does not have very much focus breathing at all - added some gears and im happy.
  25. eBay link please~ Also -My examples.. they are named after the F-stop of course - so much character and vibe wide open!!! Stopped down to F4(-ish because the XL does weird math on my P4K) its sharp and gorgeous.
