G9 II has a few gotchas: * no fan, so overheats * audio nerfed so you can’t use TC1 / tentacle etc * no hdmi out when recording with hybrid zoom Otherwise, I really liked it but it’s gone to MPB and been replaced by GH7.

Never occurred to me to bake it …. Good tip for future reference. There was also a very very convoluted workaround through Terminal which forced the OS to ignore the graphics card. The G9 mk2 has three extreme high q cuts in the mid range. Apart from the obvious sonic degradation, in my experience, Sidus TC Sync (Deity companion app to sync your files and create an XML for FCP) can’t read timecode recorded on a G9 Mk2. I haven’t tested it but if I was cynically minded. I’d be inclined to wonder if the cuts correspond to LTC @ 24/25/30 fps. Either way it’s an oddly specific piece of camera crippling. In the UK this might be considered a trading standards issue and covered for 6 years from purchase. I had a 2011 MacBook Pro way back which came with a design fault that caused the graphics chip to fail. It got two new motherboards and a new screen courtesy of Apple even after the 3 year AppleCare warranty had expired. I was thinking of taking this up with the G9 mk2 and the nasty audio issue, as deliberate flaws are covered too. Don’t know if it’s worth the hassle but it was enough of an issue to push me to a GH7.

[Power Save LVF Shooting] was automatically set to [1 sec]. (This makes the camera go into sleep mode in 1 sec in a standby mode.) * [Power Save LVF Shooting] will be set to [OFF] when the firmware Ver.2.0 is updated to Ver.2.1. If you would like to enable [Power Save LVF Shooting], please set it on manually by selecting a designated time. The parameters of picture quality adjustment in Photo Style were all set to -5 when setting the recording mode to [MP4 HEVC(AAC)]. This bug has been fixed. * The parameters of picture quality adjustment in Photo Style will be reset to ±0 when the firmware Ver.2.0 is updated to Ver.2.1. If you would like to adjust the picture quality in Photo Style, please adjust them manually. There were cases where [V-LogL View Assist] did not work, This bug has been fixed. There were cases where motion pictures recorded in [AVCHD] cannot be divided.
