  1. Seems they are sticking with the same Bionz x processing for the 3rd gen. I had heard they were having big problems with lsi development. I think this means the 3rd gen will continue to be a suped up version of the 2nd gen rather than offer the kind of new features found in the gh5 that we are hoping for. Unless 10 bit etc was supported by that chip set all along ? Hope im wrong
  2. I have one of those for my fd 24mm f2 and fd 50mm 1.4 using a gh5. Im very happy with it, i have noticed no issues with image quality, just the extra stop of light and wider view. I have not compared to a metabones but a friend of mine has a cheap speedbooster that is not very good in comparison.
  3. I got one for £1150 on ebay, opened box returned stock from a camera store in italy (free delivery to uk too)
  4. I picked up a em1 ii at a similar price thinking i would play with it for a few weeks then sell it out for a gh5. I have not compared directly to a gh5 (Andrews comparison mentioned above would be most welcome). In all honesty i have been so impressed by both video and still quality that im reluctant to let it go without a good go on a gh5 first. The colours are leagues ahead of the gh4 and even the gx80 i would say. The flat profile (along with a gentle tiffen ultra con or black pro mist) contains reasonable dynamic range and seems to hold up well to pulling around. Im going to film a short in a couple of weeks with the em1 ii and have not felt the need to try another cam for the job. Maybe i need to meet up with a gh5 owner or rent one to be sure.. But i think ill be hanging on to the olympus for a while yet
  5. I only use the low strength ones too. A 1/8 or 1/4 as needed. Sometimes i stack a black pro mist along with an ultra con too, especially on a super sharp sigma art lens or something like that.
  6. I have yet try it in 1080. I will have a little play and let you know. Im hoping the 1080 50/60 fps is good for a little slomo. I have found the image to look really good with only minor tweeks. I use the flat profile and mostly canon fd lenses on a speed booster. I also am a fan of black pro mist and ultra contrast filters, rather than reducing any more contrast in camera. Then with just a little contrast and saturation in post it is already looking good. Im not the most experienced colour grader and rely on good luts for my bmmcc footage so this is a bonus for we while i improve my skills
  7. I actually was expecting to buy a gh5 (been using a7ii,gx80,bmmcc) but a em1 mark ii was available at £1200 open box so i thought id give it a go, i was expecting to sell it on after a couple of weeks and get the gh5. However I am really happy with the image for stills and video, the colour is really nice for me and thats the main reason im going to keep it over a gh5. Ill miss the slo-mo (which i hardly use) In fact im so happy with this camera that not only am i not getting a gh5, I have sold my a7ii, gx80 and bmmcc !! ... Ill have some spare cash for a couple of nice lenses too. I havnt got footage to show just yet as im editing a short shot on the bmmcc. For the record i love the image from the bmmcc but rigged up on a shoulder rig with screen i got stopped a couple of times by kazakh (yes was filming in -25c Kazakhstan) police, and had to convince them i was just a crazy tourist. So the dslr form factor with stabalisation would be a big advantage to me too. Thats also the reason i am not too interested in Panasonics or canons new cinema cameras
  8. Just had a little look over at reduser to see more about the sensor and Jarred has posted that no noise reduction is taking place .. he says 'but if course you already knew that' or something along those lines
  9. On my gx80 the lcd screen dims after 20 seconds or so, I can't seem to find an option to turn this off (I tap the touch screen to make it go brighter again)... I'm probably being really dum but how do I stop this happening ?
  10. I have been using a couple of these for the past year or so, very fast, no problems at all with 4k h264 or prores. However my cpu is faster than the OP's and is only boarder line fast enough
  11. Great work, I thought I'd have a quick look but watched it all. I like the Nan best the look/grade etc was really good. What lenses did you use and any other details !! (I actually just registered on the site to ask)
