  1. i can't compare with the RIII but i haven't really noticed any particular cadence issues or significant rolling shutter on our copy. haven't really worked with the raw footage yet though. we did just get in some Batis lens and boy the IQ when paired with the A73 is something special. starting to see the potential of this new sensor..
  2. Fujifilm X-H1 Bug Fix Firmware Update Coming End of March Fujifilm X-H1 Will Get Improved Video Autofocus via Firmware Update in May
  3. I edited my post to add camera pointed at changing subject/scene like guy did shooting his tele.. could that be a variable?
  4. @Alex Uzan did you replicate the exact shooting conditions as the YT video? 4K 25p 100mb with AF-C, IBIS, Auto ISO and Face tracking on and pointed at changing scene / moving subject? btw will give this a try on my unit ASAP..
  5. @eoslover haven't tried it yet.. but even if it works, might it not fail again at any given time.. ? i'd like an official fix (if there is one) or recall addressing the issue.
  6. Fuji has numerous issues to you. It has never had any serious issue such as dead pixels or anything for me. You can call that a bias if you want, so what? I currently don't even own a Fuji, yet have a Sony A7iii. ..and just to prove you are wrong about me: and i've stood by my word. i'm no fanboy or brand loyalist and will buy whatever ticks my boxes and will call out any product/brand that seriously drops the ball.
  7. I'm just an actual user here reporting a potentially serious issue that seems to be affecting a large amount of units. this isn't a $200 phone, it's a $2000 camera. and the 'date trick' seems indeed a fudge not a fix. why you feel the need to downplay the situation or call me a drama queen is beyond me but clearly there seems to be an aggressive pattern from you insulting anyone that disagrees with your opinion on a product or camera brand.
  8. drama queen ?!!! not everyone buys these cameras to shoot ladies at the train station.. some of us actually count on these for commercial work. we've had at least 2 days of footage affected by this issue.. oh and yeah it appears it is a sensor issue!! anyways kudos to the youtuber for the "fix".. still blows my mind this wasn't flagged by Sony QC. ..even more so if this is an old bug. I mean they're on their third generation here.. SMH
  9. @Attila Bakos yea the problem has already been mentioned here.. and yes the production copy we have at our office also presents the issue. epic fail from Sony imo..
  10. So what about the 60% left chance? I don't know about "most consumers" but i can tell you some camera brands are definitely more reliable than others especially when it comes to weather sealing, a very important factor for pros, especially sports. If your camera fails because of rain, overheating or any other type of situation during an official game, you can be sure you are getting ruled out by photographers, sponsorship or not. Also Nikon have had a substantial amount of recalls lately (due to outsourcing parts and quality control issues with their non-domestic plants). I know a few pros (including myself) who've left the brand due to that. My point is that every brand segments their products. They all have different strategies and Canon take reliability & ergonomics very seriously. They will hold back on a feature if they feel it might stress the camera or impact resistance/wear/weather sealing (hence no flippy screen on 5D's/1DX's). One could even argue Panny is withholding APS-C/S35 on their MILC's to upsell their cine cams..
  11. Damn dude why do you always have to make it a competition with Panasonic?!.. Never said Canon was the only electronics company in the world sponsoring the Olympics or making reliable equipment.. However, it should be noted Panasonic are the official AV partner & Canon: Still Cameras and Desktop Reprographic Hardware.
  12. call me a canon fanboy but i'm with @docmoore on the 5D IV.. it is a fantastic camera. any pro stills shooter who's used a 5D will know why. the ability to combine single point back button focus and trigger continuous servo focus via front DOF command button is genius. none of my nikons or MILCs can do that. The mark IV takes the 5D to a new level with a bunch of great add-ons. the touchscreen is extremely responsive (like what you'd expect in 201X) and allows full control of the menus, gestures, and silent lens/shooting commands. it's got C-Log & dual pixel AF (actually an even better implementation than on C200). you can extract an 8MP still in-cam from 4K footage. Timelapse etc.. these are all cool features imo. the 1.7x crop, annoying..sure. it is still less crop than a GH5 and if you're shooting in 1080p you're getting FF. every camera has its caveats. the MJPEG codec. yeah it's a huge bitrate. but that also means very little compression and it's also 422 intraframe. it essentially gives you the same IQ as the 1DC which everyone here gushes over. in the end, yes of course Canon segment the hell out of their cameras. they're also a little slow in product cycle/development. but as stated by the execs, they are very careful to ensure their cameras run stable (no overheating, bugs etc). and that's how they get the olympics and other events where camera failure just isn't an option..
  13. anyone know if/how eye AF works in video mode? i keep getting an invalid program mode message when i try using it. feature is pretty stunning for stills.
  14. Yes of course Metabones & Kipon make 0.71x speedboosters for Fuji X mount giving you FF in 4K. Kipon even just released a smart adapter for Canon EF: https://www.fujirumors.com/kipon-announces-3-canon-ef-fujifilm-fx-gfx-autofocus-adapters/ As for "no FF roadmap with the Fuji".. well Fuji just released a FF camera last week via firmware update: https://www.fujirumors.com/fujifilm-gfx-50s-firmware-update-ver-3-00-released/
  15. @BTM_Pix XH1 has double the processing power of XT2. It should be able to handle AF-C @ DR200/400. Hopefully just a firmware fix.
  16. No DR200/400 for video is a new XH1 only feature. However it seems to be causing issues with AF-C which surely is a bug. FYI only DR100 uses on sensor processing, my guess is DR200/400 causes strain to the AF-C off sensor processing hence the struggle.
  17. With the spreading use of gimbals and IBIS, good AF-C has become important. Dual pixel AF is the benchmark.. to put it simply, it can put pro focus pullers to shame! The importance of strong AF-C is even more important on Fuji cams as manual focusing is kind of dodgy with focus by wire lenses. Actually I'd say this is Fuji's biggest setback for video imo.. I actually like performing a good manual rack focus and it's very hard to pull off (no pun intended) with focus by wire even with the best linear focus prime lenses. So AF-C has to be great, ideally, flawless (a la Canon's DPAF).. nobody wants "OK AF-C" for video.. the slightest hunt or misfocus and your shot is ruined. So it's like get it right or leave it out. XT2 with the latest AF-C update was really good. it remains to be seen if XH1 can match it at DR100.. As for the IQ.. the 200mbps codec really seems to make the image hold up better in post than the previous XT2 (100mbps) codec. This is especially true for FLOG where XT2 struggled a bit. Image here is very solid with low noise/macroblocking. There also have been comp tests which confirm this compared to Sony 100mbps XAVC.. Eterna is also a breeze to grade as stated above. Solid AWB & overall color science is definitely Fuji's nicest asset IQ wise. It really shines in mixed light conditions where most other camera brands struggle/fail, while Fuji's seem to nail it every time. This is incredibly time-saving in post workflow..
  18. The 5DIV crop factor is closer to APS-C then it is to M43. Also some of us still shoot in 1080p and the 5DIV does FF FHD. Furthermore as a hybrid camera, the 5DIV destroys any Panny camera for stills. Finally dual pixel AF works for 4K and is a valuable asset. I realize I'm the only person in the community 'defending' this camera but i honestly think it's a bit under-rated despite it's exuberant pricing and shortcomings..
  19. it's not just the lack of mirror.. sony e-mount has such short flange, it easily exposes the sensor to exterior elements. our A7iii hasn't been in for a week and it's already been sent for sensor cleaning lol..
  20. We have an A7III at the office, terribly underwhelmed by it.. aside from the slight body changes, it feels like the same old Sony experience.. emperor's new clothes imo. The EVF hasn't evolved since the II series, same 100mb XAVC-S codec, it's got an AA filter. LCD is a cluttered mess, convoluted menus with no touch support nor gestures. Yellow cast on every mixed lighting shot requiring fixing in post. Cherry on top is is our unit has the bottom blinking pixel issue others have reported. So much for Sony QC! Hence my vote goes to XT2/XH1. For stills, the X-Trans sensor, color science, film simulations & classic dedicated dials/ring control take the lead. For video, the 4K just has some SOOC mojo just like the JPEG engine. XH1: The body/grip enhancements feel great. The new soft shutter & excellent IBIS allow new levels of low shutter speed shots. DCI 4K. 200mbs codec feels solid in post. Eterna is a joy & needs minimum grade. . Top sub-monitor display. Customizable gesture support. Silent movie mode (bypasses aperture ring, dials etc).
  21. Plenty of reasons to pick a 5D4 over a A73 : native Canon lens support, superior colors/ skintones , 30MP sensor, DCI 4K, 422 intra high bitrate codec, dual pixel autofocus, better weather sealing, built-in timelapse , excellent ergonomics, touchscreen menus & gestures etc.. Highly doubt Canon sales/prices will be affected much by this. The 5D3 hardly saw a price drop when the A7 could be bought for $900. They address different markets. To be honest i don't understand the hype over this camera.. we have one at the office (boss is a sony fan) and i can hardly notice any IQ difference with the previous A7R/S II series. A lot of the same issues though (and some new ones too!). I guess the pricing is what makes it so tempting, flagship Sonys costing almost double. edit: i can confirm we have the bottom pixel blinking issue on our unit!
  22. in other news, Fuji finally released a FF camera.. via firmware update: https://www.fujirumors.com/fujifilm-gfx-50s-firmware-update-ver-3-00-released/ #kaizen#ftw
  23. have you even watched the videos i linked? the 1 million subscribers actually gets mentioned/explained too.. i don't want to make a parallel with politics but number of voters/subscribers doesn't necessarily translate to the speaker saying the truth or that his word should be 'taken as gospel' either..
