Veeeery nice. I have plenty of my own words to digest now.
Never realized you're such an artist in this ilk of filmmaking. 100 percent agree about feature work being a subgenre, my post should of been a bit more diplomatic.
Again. Your work is great. I asked mostly because I just got over the technology bug and am trying not to relapse. I went full circle with owning so many dslrs that shooting and accomplishing goals took backseat to doing a plethora of test and voicing complaints about 8bit limitations.

... you guys sound surprised as if Canon was really going to give DPAF, 4K, no-crop & manageable codec in a sub-$1K body when it hasn't even done so on their flagship 1DX2 / 5D4 / 6D2!!
watching that unbox video though i gotta say the 1080p looked cleaner/sharper than i've ever seen a non-cinema Canon camera produce and if you forget the crop & dual pixel absence in 4K, the IQ remains pretty strong with those pleasing Canon skin tones.
so my verdict is if you're on a tight budget doing 1080p interviews or vlogs with the occasional macro 4K product shot, this might not be as bad as it seems.
and of course this paves the way for upcoming better spec'd higher-end models ( i still want to see c-log, peaking & zebras in non-cinema line).

It's just tiring to see a company become so big they're scared to change for fear of losing money. You have to pay a lot more to get the features you want in the cinema line which is fine because the work pays for it- but with cameras like these it's kinda like buying an artificially speed restricted car.
The only reason we can make films is due to technology improving and becoming more affordable, yet they obviously are too afraid to allow the potential of the technology be utilised (look at Magic Lantern on the 5diii)
I guess it all makes business sense, but then that's the problem- Canon need a shakeup.

OK, I usually try to post on this forum only if I have information to share, but in this case I find it absurd that people expect every new camera to be a RED for less than $3000.
People were shooting big budget features on shitty 8 bit 1080p when the 5DII came out and hailing it as the best non-film image ever.
If you need more: Buy. A. More. Expensive. Camera.
    Get some perspective.

    Thank you.

No, I totally thought I read 5D... I guess since ML lives on the SD in the other slot there's no size limitation to the CF cards

If you want rock solid performance go for Sandisk Extreme Pro card with 160MB/s. Lexar 128 1066x are fine too, there are few complains mostly about fake cards. Komputerbay is rebranded Lexar, 64GB 1000x is rock solid, 128GB is questionable. Transcend 64GB 1000x rock solid, 128GB 1000x is slow, not recommended.
I have Lexar 64GB 1066x from amazon and it's working perfectly.

Thanks to everyone who replied to me, very helpful.
256GB in the 7D? I've been trying to find the maximum working capacity for the 7D.
