  1. Wow, where's the camera? It's not the same grip as I have but they seem to offer good quality for a low price. I think they have cages for the GX85 as well. I've been thinking about MB + Sigma for a while as well, but I'm happy with the native lens selection for now. That is a 25-50 f/1.2 right? Looks really cool! btw, If I could choose just one lens for travelling with a MFT camera it would be the 15mm Pana Leica. It's just a tad bit wider than the 20mm which makes it better for capturing the scenery as well as the people in front of it. Please post videos from the Beast when you have some!
  2. Cool! Can you post a picture of the setup? Excited to hear your thoughts on image quality compared to your other lenses.
  3. Yes, I would say so but didn't really notice a difference between the two. I rarely focus on the fly, I usually set it before I record and just leave it. Maybe someone else who has the 12-35mm X can comment on the manual focus abilities?
  4. I just did a quick comparison with the 20mm and it's similar. Obviously it's bigger so it's easier to hold and the focus ring is also larger and wider.
  5. Sorry, it's a gaussian blur effect in FCPX. The lens is great if you have enough light. I ended up using the 15mm f/1.7 and 25mm in the next video because I think this video a little dark, and that looked a lot better.
  6. Here's a new video i shot with the GX85 and 12-35mm X. Skin tones look pretty good I think.
  7. Looks nice! I've been meaning to test that profile too, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
  8. I use this one from Smallrig and think I paid 30 usd for it. Haven't used anything else so can't really compare it to others but it's seems solid and sturdy.
  9. Maybe you should read the article. "For the video above I used the Canon 50mm F1.2L"
  10. I have to agree here, it's looks really good! Maybe a few shots are slightly warm but that's ok on a hot day. Great shots, edit and music. @jonpais and @jase. I get that you mean well and are just giving feedback, but your posts can easily be interpreted as negative, especially on the internet. I wouldn't call "skin tones so orange" constructive feedback and creative looks seldom look natural. Besides, isn't this the Canon look that everybody loves
  11. It's not my video but it's actually my hometown. Anyways, I still think the Gopro 4/5/Phantom 4 looks better than Mavic, but the Mavic definitely has other advantages.
  12. The Gopro and Phantom 4 look better to my eyes too.
  13. It seems the GH5 is a little bit taller than the GH4. They probably did it so the bigger lenses don't get in the way of the baseplate. There's a picture of the GH5 with the 12mm in this link: http://www.genkosha.com/vs/news/entry/gh54k60p422_10bit.html
  14. I agree that the 25mm is not the same standard as the 12mm and 42,5mm. Panny is probably going to update that one with 1-2 years to compete with the new Oly, unfortunately at a similar price... As @Cinegain said, you can always sell it if you need better quality at some point with only a small loss. Regarding focal lengths it depends on what you are shooting. I have the 15mm and 25mm and I think they are both great for portraits in their own way. The 15mm for whole body and the 25mm for half body. If your shooting portraits with your 12mm I think this article is a good read, and you can compare the images from the other links with the 25mm's: http://www.thephoblographer.com/2016/08/01/how-to-shoot-better-portraits-with-a-24mm-lens/ If you can wait until Black Friday I'd be happy to make a comparison as I intend to pick up the 12mm PL Good to hear that you approve of the quality of the 12mm!
  15. Since there's no comparisons yet it's we just have to guess, but the Oly 25mm pro is probably sharper egde to egde since the Oly 25mm f/1.8 is. It's probably a little sharper in the center as well, but not by much. Other than that the Pana Leica lenses have a nicer color rendering than Olympus lenses IMO, but I haven't used any of the pro lenses. @Michael Ma Have you seen this review by Oly ambassodor Neil Buchant? http://buchangrant.format.com/Blog/the Great looking images! but we don't know how much post processing has been done. I like the PL 25mm a lot since I just want one 25mm for both photo and video, but as @jonpais mentioned Voigtlander might be a better option for video. At laest Shane Hurlbut agrees: http://www.thehurlblog.com/cinematography-micro-43-lenses/ SLR Magic and Veydra are also great. It's a little different than Olympus Neil's photos but I think some of the images in this review look really good! http://toolsandtoys.net/reviews/the-panasonic-leica-dg-summilux-25mm-f1-4-lens/
  16. @TheRenaissanceMan I want one set of AF lenses that work well for both photo and video, which is why I went for Pana Leica lenses. If it was for video only I would go for SLR Magic or Veydra. The SLR Magic 10mm is a great lens!
  17. Thanks! Hercules is great for product shoots but it's a little fiddly to control as it only has one button and many settings. Would love it if they made an updated version with smartphone control. Some of the shots are also a bit wobbly and I'm not sure why, could be the IBIS though. If you're going to use the rail on a tripod it needs to be a steady one. Didn't work well with the gorilla pod, I used a Benro alu tripod . Small primes like PL 15mm and 25mm on the GX85 works very well with Hercules. It can tip over with bigger/ longer lenses so be careful. Haven't shot so much at night yet, but it holds really well up to 1600 ISO and pretty good at 3200. Did you see the ISO video I posted in this topic? Or @jase festival video?
  18. There is always going to be something better, unfortunately...
  19. Yeah, the new trio is probably going to be a little more expensive that it should unfortunately. It seems every new lens/camera is getting more expensive, but there's always the older lenses that keep dropping in price and the ever growing used marked. I agree, but you also have the Oly 25 and Panny 25 which are pretty close in performance to the Sigma and PL and same price/cheaper than the Sigma. I would also love to see some native m43 lenses from Sigma, but it's just not going to happen. And even though Sigma make great bright lenses for APS-C, they are pretty big and heavy. Always a compromise
  20. @jonpais If you read my post that you quoted, it says that I would prefer 8-60mm f/4.0 instead of 12-100mm f/2.8. In my experience the PL lenses has slightly better color rendition and out-of-focus rendition than other lenses I have used from both Panny and Oly. Which is why I believe this will be the case with the new zooms. There are pro's and con's with everything but the balance of size, price and performance of Panasonic body's with PL lenses is perfect for me at the moment. Even though they are not identical my kit of PL primes and zooms will be similar and easier to match in post. I know there are cheaper solutions with vintage lenses, speedboosters and what not but there's always a catch. It's pretty clear that you don't like the new trio and I respect your opinion, but they are very interesting too me (and maybe others) for both stills and video. DXO mark doesn't rate the Sigma 30mm any better than the PL 25mm: https://www.dxomark.com/Reviews/Sigma-30mm-f-1.4-DC-DN-C-lens-review-Third-party-MFT-standard-prime Am I missing something or can you post a link to what you are talking about. Why don't you just get an A7s and some small lenses if you want low light and super shallow DOF?
  21. @TheRenaissanceMan I'm guessing these new lenses will be better than the two X lenses, and if they are I would rather have 8-60 f/4.0 than 12-100 f/2.8. Especially for travel. I use the two X lenses wide open and they are very nice, but I like my PL's better. The Oly equivalents look good too, but I don't like the size. I bet these new zooms will have the best out of focus rendering of the tree sets but we will have to wait and see. What would you have liked to seen instead of these zooms?
  22. Why don't you like the Leica partnership? In terms of rendering, size and price I think the PL lenses are the best in the whole m43 lineup. Sure, the Nocticron and the 12mm are expensive but the quality is exceptional. The new 8-18mm and 12-60mm with a GH5 seems like an ideal lightweight travel kit if the quality is similar to the rest of the PL lineup. Add a the 15mm and 25mm for low light and you're should be very well covered.
  23. It's a fantastic image for the price! Prices in Norway: GX85 is 590 euros, G85 is 1050 euros and A6300 is 1335 euros. If the price keeps dropping I might have to keep it as a B-cam when the GH5 is out, which isn't so bad as it's a perfect match for Hercules with PL 15mm and PL 25mm:
  24. Color Finale Pro is out now and the new WB tools are very nice: http://try.colorgradingcentral.com/colorfinale/
