  1. That sucks about the Android 5.0 requirement, was gonna test it on the samsung NX Android camera, might have been a new dark horse !
  2. Anyone tried the older Samsung NX android Camera ? Since it is Android based it can probably be easily hacked and modified, and with the android cinema apps it might be worth a look at $499 from samsung directly or less on Ebay http://www.samsung.com/us/photography/digital-cameras/EK-GN120ZKZXAR
  3. Does it have a stream to youtube feature like some camera apps ? That would be awesome !
  4. The Arm Cortex A72 SoC architecture which will be used by Samsung and other phone manufactures to make their chips, will have hardware support for higher 4K video bit rate and will do 120 Fps. so if you are getting a cellphone next year, make sure it's Soc is based on the Cortex A72 architecture.
  5. CANON DEVELOPS NEW CAMERA-LENS OPTICAL ELEMENT THAT ENABLES EXTREMELY HIGH LEVELS OF CHROMATIC ABERRATION CORRECTION The new Canon-developed BR optical element offers characteristics that significantly refract blue light, which lies within the short-wavelength range, to achieve impressive levels of chromatic aberration correction for outstanding imaging performance. Natural light, or white light, comprises a spectrum of wavelengths, or colors, each of which realizes a unique refractive index when passing through a lens. As all colors do not converge on the same point, this disparity causes chromatic aberrations, or color fringing, to occur in an image. http://2.static.img-dpreview.com/files/p/E~TS520x0~articles/9530547937/mtf.jpeg http://***URL removed***/articles/9530547937/canon-ef-35mm-f1-4l-ii-usm-blue-spectrum-refractive-optics
  6. 10 minutes HEVC clip to ProRes in 2 minutes ? Computer specs please
  7. Retail price for the Canon EOS M3 is set at $679.99 body only, $799.99 for a kit with the 18-55mm IS STM and $1049 as a two lens kit with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm.Any reason to get this over the A6000 whatsoever ? http://***URL removed***/articles/5633114766/canon-eos-m3-comes-to-us Can't wait for the new A7000
  8. The i7 6700K Quadcore CPU is already for sale ! Hexacore processors won't be out till later beginning of 2016 Also if you use intel IGP Quick Sync hardware encode you lose the added gpu encoding, don't think any NLE uses both

    New laptop

The U is too weak for encoding, the 4770HQ is much better If you want a heavy duty laptop for fast encoding get the newest Xeon mobile processor that was just announced http://news.lenovo.com/news+releases/lenovo-thinkpad-p50-p70.htm
  10. I'd either get the skylake i7 6700K cpu with h.265 hardware encoding support, or i7 5820K 6 cores haswell E processor for the best bang to performance. Get 2 SSD drives (makes a huge difference) Samsung 850 pro and evo, also cheap 2 TB 7200 RPM HD for storage. 16GB ram or more is good Open CL is bringing faster results with some people, as of now it is getting more support and I'd look into the Radeon R9 390x, or if you require Nvidia skip the latest generation, it doesn't seem to bring any faster encoding and it is still not supported natively by many NLE programs, so research it! Get at least a 750 Watts PSU 80+ Silver, power is neglected by many and causes problems especially with power hungry GPUs while encoding ! If you have a microcenter near you, they usually have bundle deals on the CPU + motherboard. Check Slickdeals for the cheapest prices on SSDs and GPUs also research pcpartpicker
  11. Will the sensor is only 2 mp resulting in bigger pixels/photosites , while the A7S is 12 mp, so if Sony were to make the A7sII 8 MP for 4K capability with BSI and other enhancements it can probably reach above 1 million + ISO. And without real world results and how much noise it generates, how much DR it retains, etc.. we can not tell.
  12. The ME20F-SH is a low light capable video camera with photosites sized to 19 microns on it's 2.26 MP full-frame 35mm CMOS sensor to deliver an ISO equivalent of more than 4 million. The suggested retail price is $30,000 I guess the A7s just got a little competition lol, will see how the cheaper A7sII will stack up in the Iso capabilities and real world low light performance. http://www.engadget.com/2015/07/30/canon-me20f-sh/ http://***URL removed***/articles/5496399487/canon-multi-purpose-me20f-sh-camera-reaches-iso-4-million
  13. Nice, been waiting for that. Too bad the free version is limited to UHD, but that should be be good enough if you are a youtube editor. The specs does not mention H.265 / HEVC and VP9 support! I wonder if they will add it later on.
  14. skylake supports VP9 Encode/Decode And btw it seems like the native H.265 hardware decoding/encoding in skylake is limited to 8 Bits for 4k, and you'll have to wait for intel's 7th gen in 2016/2017 canon lake for native 10 bit 4k hardware decoding / encoding This doesn't mean that a software solution won't be possible, but will be slower and the quality might suffer without native hardware acceleration.
  15. Depends on how powerful is your hardware, and also if future software updates will support it ! Hardware decoding just makes it possible with most compatible software and faster.
  16. It seems like it is going to be possible with intel's new 6th gen CPUs Skylake http://i1024.photobucket.com/albums/y303/martmail55/Untitled-333_zpsnep4acoa.jpg
  17. The kick starter page mention android BT connectivity & phone app with streaming, but will I be able to use it as a phone camera to stream live events on youtube or only their own streaming platform?
  18. I'm still waiting for the Sony a7000 to drop for an affordable 4K shooter without sacrificing the crop, Iso, or using a speed booster.
  19. DPreview says 4K at XAVC S format, so must be internal!
  20. WOW WOW WOW, this will slaughter the competition; BSI FF sensor 5 Axis Stabilization 4K Higher ISO Higher MP Better focus tracking Higher DR I'd assume
  21. Adorama is having a special bundle of the G7 with the G Vario 14-140mm power OIS lens plus free Audio-Technica AT8024 Stereo/Mono Camera-Mount Microphone for $1098, but they are also offering an extra $200 off any other lens bought with the bundle, so which of the following lenses offers something extra or better IQ or usefulness for video ? Panasonic H-H014A Lumix G 14mm, f/2.5 II Aspherical Lens for Micro Four Thirds Panasonic LUMIX G Vario 45-150mm f/4.0-5.6 ASPH Lens, Black Panasonic 45-175/4-5.6 Lumix GX Vario Zoom Lens- Black Panasonic 45-200mm f/4-5.6 G Vario Mega OIS Lens Panasonic Lumix G Vario 35-100mm f/4.0-5.6 OIS Micro 4/3 Lens, Black Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 II Lumix Aspherical Micro 4/3 Lens - Black Panasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f/1.7 Aspherical Power O.I.S. 23. They have demonstrated with a drone carrying the Samsung NX1 decoding and Encoding H.265 footage, which is one of their partners. The APU is the first chip with HEVC hardware decode.
  24. They must have limited it to UHD-1 which is used by Youtube, it should be 1.78:1 aspect ratio with 3840 x 2160 pixels at 16:9 Cinema 4K or DCI 4K is 4096 x 2160 pixels with 1.9:1 aspect ratio, and I guess we will need the full version for DCI.
  25. The 3D support had me confused, so the light version does support 3D Luts but not Stereoscopic 3D, sweet. But it still does not fully support 4K : Supported Video Formats DaVinci Resolve DaVinci Resolve Software DaVinci Resolve Lite 4K2160p 23.98, 4K2160p 24, 4K2160p 25, 4K2160p 29.97 and 4K2160p 30.YesYesUHD Limit What is their UHD limit, 2K ? or the FPS ? or time ?
