  1. If you are going to buy a new desktop or laptop then get one with Skylake intel's 6th gen processor, it will come with native hardware support for H.265 encoding and decoding. Sadly the Tech is still lagging behind because of the lack of competition in the regular cpu market, even the 5th gen lacks H.265 hardware encoding. Otherwise transcoding is the only way for the time being!
  2. Isn't the free lite version limited without basic features like image stabilization, and without 4k Support so will be limited to 1080p , etc.. ? That is a negative that might turn off above basic users that don't want to pay $1000 BTW Avid is also releasing a free NLE version of their media composer. http://apps.avid.com/MediaComposerFirst/
  3. More OpenCl support is coming, no one wants to deal with a closed code if open CL works on all GPUs. Also AMD cards score much higher in OpenCl.
  4. How does this sound Drive 1: Fast SSD for OS, Apps and ( editable / Read ) media Drive 2: Scratch SSD drive for fast Writing ( Encoding, transcoding and Export) Drive 3 and 4 in Raid 0: Storage Hard drives or SSHDs if that works, to transfer media from the write/scratch SSD after the project is done.
  5. Hello everyone, I received a promotional email from Divx for their newest Divx powered video editing software, and what got my attention was the claim to be able to edit H.265 natively, and encode to 10 bit 4:4:4 output. Also having support for the newer Nvidia video cards for faster encoding with NVENC than using CUDA. Anyone used this NLE before ? how was the performance, and what are the shortcomings compared to more professional softwares like Vegas Pro, Premiere CC, Edius, etc.. ? Can it support Luts and color grading ? does it have plugins like the film look, etc.. ? http://www.divx.com/en/software/video-mastering-works http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tvmw6.html
