They say it doesn't have IS when it does with certain lenses, and with all (including third party) lenses with DIS and then a combo of OIS and DIS with certain Samsung lenses. Still, this is cracking me up hahaha.

Hi there, The Video Metadata clip is regarding the extraction of ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed etc data from the internally recorded video. Although the NX1 doesn't export it with the video file (stupid) if you playback the file in camera and then take a JPEG frame grab (internally) if will pull some exif data with it, so you can remember what settings you used for the shot. Regards.

Speaking of features, the NX1 actually records metadata in the video files, as described in this video. Would be nice if there was an option to have it written to the video files in a different format so it is easily digested by NLE's.

I know, I should have phrased the question better. The way the answer is phrased suggests 10-bit out, a spec repeated by Tom's Review and a few others (8-bit is also quoted by various sites). I don't have an ext. recorder to check.

I noticed the ProRes app converts it into ProRes 422 so just wanted to check. Judging by the smoothness of the colour gradients in the video clips Samsung uploaded it looks like it could be 10bit, please confirm? It's 8bit when recording internally. The image quality is much smoother and better because of the new codec (H.265). It has much better compression ratio than H.264.Will Samsung release a benchmark app to test how long the conversion time is? For example, the user selects a resolution/ frame rate and clip length and it can predict how long it will take? It will take about 5 minutes to convert for 1 minute clip.Rumour has it that the camera can output 7K video at 30fps or 1080p at 120fps (in theory). The UHS-2 card slot has enough bandwidth to send that footage to a card so between those two thing it could happen. Maybe. In a future software update? This is not have been confirmed and we can't comment on this.

I don't even use Sony cameras, but I don't see why they don't provide 14 bit lossless raw to their customers. I'm loyal to camera users, not camera brands. Actually while we're on the subject, the thing that caught my attention about this issue was when I read something that spoke of its raw as 14 bit. I've always been cautious of Sony's marketing since they started putting '4K' logos on cameras that don't shoot it. I used to work in the warehouse of a camera store. ​I think I've been able to replicate this. The video feed appears skittish, oscillating back and forth on a 45 deg(ish) angle around a central point. I know the NX1 has a dedicated splitter chip, maybe the freq of the vid output with the chip is doing something. The rest of the HUD is stable right?

Some tech info is available in the vid description, although it's all essentially the same as that bird tracking vid I did (I shot this material on the same day). Kept the video to under 2:30, as birds aren't that interesting lol

It did a real good job. Apologises if it got a bit too wavy, I'd already been shooting stills for 2 and a bit hours. I have noticed some focussing inconsistencies in stills mode with that vND filter though, but they vanish when I shoot without it. My fault for being a cheapskate.

Hi all, Here's a video I shot on an impulse (I was actually out and about to take stills) following a seagull doing a marathon flying session in Regent's Park, London. Although the video is titled 'tracking' I wasn't using the Tracking AF, I was using C-AF with the default focus box, so technically I was tracking the bird manually by trying to keep it in the box the whole time, gets a little tiring as it's 1) handheld and 2) at 150mm. Literally every scenario is tested, moving towards, away from camera, quiet backgrounds and busy, sky shooting, flying over water. Was pleasantly surprised by the results. I was using a cheapo variable ND filter I got on Ebay for £15 or something ridiculous. I believe I could have gotten better results by altering the AF sensitivity functions, but when something happens, I'd rather shoot it than miss the moment fiddling with the camera :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR8pWl8keNc

Just thinking I'd probably want to use my Hyperdeck 2 to capture the screen output for more proof. But yeah, manual focus is still my favourite lol

You know you having Track Focus right? Touch the object on the screen and it will just follow it.

You should be able to set it to SAF and it won't hunt once you've locked a focus point. Active AF that's with SAF but switches to CAF if it notices the focus subject moving. You can also lock it with AF On. Keep your finger on it and it'll lock.

This is what I did, maximum safety. Format the card in camera, plug it into iLauncher, download firmware file into camera. Plug camera into wall charger, turn on, navigate to Device Information > Software Update > Update Body Firmware. Enjoy the firmware goodness :-) Just noticed too, went back into my NX1 just now, under that heading there is now an option for Update Firmware over WiFi. So the next one should be even easier to install.

If a device formatted a SDHC card as anything other than FAT32 it would be violating the SDHC specification, as that card doesn't officially support it. The card would have to identify as SDXC for the camera to exFAT it. I reckon anyway.
