@hyalinejim we should get a thread going about this ! Hopefully we get enough user support to convince Canon to disable that NR. It would be amazing if Magic Lantern hacked this thing for 1080 raw

all these specs your spewing out right now are meaningless. I know the images the NX1 can capture and no one cares if its 8 bit or 10 bit. The clients that will pay you will not notice if it was 10 bit or 8 bit. Lets see the images you come up with out the NX500 and let that be the proof you need to solidify your argument.
-
and this is why we have the hack that vasille and otto made :-) I've shot comfortably at 160-200 mbps. Sorry man the nx500 doesn't come close....plus I dont know where you got that math from that somehow proves the nx500 is superior. If you own an nx500 and like it fine...its just not better than the nx1 in terms of performance. It was never designed to be better than the companies flagship.

a LUT can not increase the dynamic range of a camera's sensor nor can it increase the DR of a compressed REC709 profile. The only thing a LUT does is remap's the data already present. I doubt the point of this LUT is to increase DR

lmaooooo helllllll nawwwww

have you tried ebay ? I randomly find good deals on the 16-50s. I don't think a lot of these sellers are moving their stock so maybe you can get it even cheaper with a buy it now offer on ebay
-
Has anyone bought & used the speedbooster or ef adapter from Luca?
-
Something like that lmao @mercer
-
what PP are you using ?
-
an NX1 with the 16-50s lens would be ideal. I need image stabilization for my work ! What really killed the nx1 for me is the latest Samsung fiasco with the galaxy 7. Doesn't seem like Samsung does a good job of supporting their products. either way if you own an NX1 i don't think you would need to get rid of it any time soon unless you need image stabilization

yeah its critical to get accurate white balance when shooting LOG. Saves you a world of hurt in post ! @hyalinejim
-
I white balance with a grey card for a neutral look and I shift the white balance in post. This was probably shot at 5600 or 5500 kelvin

I was about to say that! 102 at 720p is freakin insane! I wonder how efficient this codec is!

Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!
kidzrevil replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
@Tim Sewell thats awesome! Gotta try that out one day or just open up my wallet and purchas his CLOG deluts! I want something that I can tweak slightly in post and get a stylized image. The closer I can bring the footage to the final look the better. I read the EBU white paper on the xc10 and their findings show +1 sharpening resolves the 4k detail and +2 in HD are the highest you should go. Just gotta see how it affects motion cadence now ? -
Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!

@Tim Sewell thank you! this was with the Fujicolor 200 profile Yeah a good rec709 alternative to Canon LOG is necessary to add to the arsenal of options. My eye is on the Standard picture profile since its the same CINE1 gamma as the C100. The EOS Cinema profile looks really great on skin and is of course rec709. Next step is to see how the in camera sharpening affects high contrast edges and motion -
Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!
kidzrevil replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Picked up the XC10 and I am definitely eating my words. The image looks incredible with C-LOG ! Gonna try another picture profile for WYSIWYG shooting -
C-LOG is absolutely amazing. The absolute zero sharpening of the picture profile really brought out the look of the type of diffusion I was using. Very smooth, very filmic look with that deep depth of field of super 16mm and Canon color I love it. Im still getting used to the camera but so far so good.
-
@hyalinejim and it gets extremely exaggerated at high iso's. Maybe the only way to combat it is high shutter speeds? Idk but it sucks this camera repeats frames. Guess its something we are just going to have to live with for now. Any other issues with the image processing? @hmcindie
-
Hopefully you are right and its just a problem with certain units. If its something hardwired into the code thats gonna be an issue. im gonna run some tests to see if its the stabilizer causing these issues
-
@mercer nope! The nx1 is gone! Miss the image quality but the xc10 image stability fixes my #1 problem with my work and the image quality looks real pro too so im good without the nx1. Im considering getting a used fuji xt1 for my stills needs
-
@mercer LOVE the ergonomics of that handle! The rotating handle plus the image stabilizing has me getting shots from angles that Were impossible to do with my previous dslr's. The autofocus works really good, the skin tones are great and the clarity is pretty good in great lighting. CLOG is really useful but im testing to see if Wide DR is better. Overall I think the camera can be used as a primary camera for video. I prefer the look of super 16 so it works for me so far...
-
I always catch it at high iso's 3200-4000 or at slow shutter speeds. Combine both and you might as well delete the footage I haven't been home to grade the footage yet but hopefully it holds up well and I can at least mask some of these defects cause I am not trying to get yet another camera for video
-
Does anyone have a work around for the ghosting / motion artifact yet ? It like the same frame plays twice so far the camera is impressive and i am learning to live with variable apeture but that ghosting effect is annoying. I dont even want to know how that will affect noise reduction software.

All the a6500 means to me is cheaper a6300 on ebay. I finally see the value in Sony and these minor incrimental updates LOL
