The best way to "fake" the oval aperture is to have an actual oval aperture, one of the options for DSO's FF58 lens.
    Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_MZDAgkR_4
And that's just the 1.5x squeeze.  Also available in 2x.

Comes with the necessary clamp and yes you definitely need to have rails for this beast.

    Aaaaarp!  Thanks Hans!
I have just finished reading another post on this great forum that said the same thing, about f2.8 and 85mm so I am going to take that as golden and start honing my eBay skills once more. I am using ML also so your advice on this is welcome too.  I look forward to trying it all out and posting some footage of our great city on this thread.  Just one more thing... Do I need to start looking for clamps to attach everything together still? i.e. the Redstan clamps, and do you have to always have the lenses on rails?

Thank you Kris, may I call you Kris?  I have moved fast... An Olympus OM System Zuiko AUTO-T 100mm f/2.8 lens is now mine, just the rails to sort out.

On the focus gear front, I had good luck with helicoptersean on ebay. 3D printed from measurements I gave him from calipers he shipped me. Easy and a snug enough fit without any screws or adhesive.

You will need to stop down - f/4 is generally where things get clean, especially when on full frame.
Still loads of bokeh at f/4 IMHO, and about the right depth of field on 85mm + x2 anamorphic for plenty of selective focus.

    Focus gear update!

RafCamera has just confirmed to me that he will from now on supply his FM focus gear with the internal diameter bored out by an additional 0.1mm
This will allow the gear to be fitted on and off much more smoothly - without it being such a super tight fit.
It seems that my initial measurements were correct, but did not fully take into account the friction caused by the knurled aluminium finish on the FM body.
    Gear available here: http://rafcamera.com/en/accessories/ff-gears/gear-fm-lens-88-107-32mm

    Sounds like the wrong holes.
take your thumb and finger and pinch the back lip of the FM lens opening and twist counter-clockwise. It sounds like the helicoid is wound closed (normal for shipping).
When the lens turns it will extend to reveal the 4 hex screws that you use to clamp onto the cinelux body or mounting tube.

Cosimo did a nice job by drilling the mounting tube - then inserting nylon screws to make it a clamp smaller anamorphics (again, info is in this thread a few pages back).
I however can pack my Kowa B&H into the tube (after taking kowa's focus ring off) and simply tape it in centered to the FM mounting tube.
I'll probably make a video on how that is done soon, as the principle is the same for any smaller anamorphic lens that people may want to use within the FM lens.

The FM lens clamps itself to the cinelux type lenses via tiny grub screws - then the rear of the cinelux body is clamped to the large ring clamp.
When not using a Cinelux - the tube acts as a proxy cinelux, allowing an alternative (smaller) anamorphic lens to take it's place.
Here is a reminder of how it all fits together...imagine the cinelux is a hollow aluminium tube with a smaller anamorphic lens inside - then it should make sense: https://vimeo.com/105787520

Not great to be honest - as the edelkrone only clamps to one 15mm rod, so the heavy torque of the FM focus helicoid tends to push the alignment off unless the Edelkrone is seriously cranked down on it's locking lever.
A follow focus with regular duel rod clamp would work better - i'll dig out my other FF to give that a try soon.
When not using a follow focus, having a solid chunky focus gear feels better in the hand anyway - allows smoother pulls and further range, having that larger diameter.

It acts as a proxy cinelux diameter to mount the FM to the ring clamp. Since it is a hollow tube, you can fit any smaller anamorphic inside to be use with the FM. If you jump back through this thread, you will see how Cosimo did exactly that for his Sankor and Animex s8 etc.

So I've received my RafCamera gear that I commissioned for my FM lens and I'm glad to report it fits perfectly.
    http://rafcamera.com/en/accessories/ff-gears/gear-fm-lens-88-107-32mm
It is VERY tight fit to put on (which is good) - so if you buy one, be prepared to expect that.

Come on guys.  Lets leave it there.
I understand there was sourness towards Cosimo's group buy topic (and as such John Barlow lost his administrator rights).  So I understand Cosimo's reasons here.
I am also happy to see developments of the Rectilux concept from John - I'll freely admit I gave him a hard time about his methods and conduct, but primarily about bold claims I was questioning.  Now it would seem John is taking a quieter approach with only occasional updates of this topic.  To be fair, I am not seeing hard selling but just occasional info about developments.  I am also seeing a product that if it comes to light in a tangible way ( I hope it does), will be something that will benefit a lot of users here.

Personally I feel it might be wise to close this topic down, and have John decant the most important information into a new topic where potential customers can direct their queries and productivity can be rekindled on the subject.   Does this sound logical?

**I'd also like to point out that as a potential customer myself, I will be awaiting images and tests (ideally third party) or finished articles before any money leaves my account.  I urge everyone to take care and factor this in before jumping on board without seeing tangible products or an expected availability date of items that appear largely at the concept stage of development. **

For me this thread is an unfairness, Mr Barlow is deliberately pushing his own products, why is it ok for him and not for others? ask yourself this question and give yourself an answer. No one is fighting, I am just trying to make this clear that it's not bloody fair. He comes here just to advertise his rectilux, why doesn't he answer to what's going here, cos he is a coward and he is taking advantage of this thread, but I am sure if somebody else was doing what he is doing he would have demanded some answers.
Search on the internet for Barlow and his products and you can understand what this man is after, MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!!!! He is all over the places , whenever you see some anamorphic topics, Barlow is there promoting his stuff, come on man!!!!!

That's the point, this thread it's like an open restaurant where Mr Barlow takes new orders from customers, I advice you to read through this:
    http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/7181-fm-lens-discount/?page=2

so you can get a better idea who you are dealing with.
This thread has been pushed from mr Barlow to sell his stuff only.
Mr Barlow caveat emptor doesn't apply to you? doesn't it.
I would like moderators  or Andrew to close down this thread, and give Mr Barlow a taste of his own medicine.
Please araucaria moderate your language with me (gtfo) I haven't spoken to you like that, never!

Yes. Barlow threatened to close the FM thread when he was a moderator and Andrew found that it wasn't suitable that Barlow was a moderator since he had his own interest in promoting his products - so it ended in Andrew removing the moderator rights.
The anamorphic forum on EOSHD is the best place for anamorphic fans on the Internet. I don't see any problem at all with people who make anamorphic modules / attachments to promote their products here - as long as it is clear that they are promoting their products, which I think is quite clear if you read through this thread.
Heck. I wouldn't mind if Letus, SLR Magic and Anamorphic shop all had their own main threads discussing their development and lenses, taking feedback and answering questions! It's just nice to have information available right here in the forum.
I don't see it as I am forced to buy anything from Barlow. But he makes it easy for me to follow along and be up to date about his product, should it interest me. I would say that is something that can be considered a gain for us forum members here!

I don´t know about other people, but I would like to see a real, physical product and some test done by professional photographer before pay for this.
If also I can suggest something for the design..
I think this modules should be black matte paint, dented ring for follow focus, distances scale feet and meters and 90º ring turn.
Right now,the CGI looks like a toy.
