  1. Did you read my post above? And your image does not show anything there is no colors in the shadows on the left. Try to make that pop a little and come back to me. Try the same pic with a D810 and be amazed by the difference. And read my post and exemples above. I cant believe what I read either, you obviously dont know what you are talking about. But cool for you be amazed with you 1DC for landscape stills, you should with the money you had put in it.
  2. I agree that if you push shadows 5EV all the way it is not gonna be nice on any camera (yet). What I say is that on a D5500/D750 and ever better on a D810 you have very clean shadows when heavy work is done on it and that a similar push on a Canon body gives a mush. For me the difference in real word is very big and makes all the difference when I have no choice but to have a single exposure. Now the new 80D as well as 1DXII are different, they improved but I did not test them so I cant say if it still makes all the difference or not for me. But according to mesurement test they are still far behind (13.5 stop vs 14.8)
  3. I agree with you on most topics, but honestly here you are very mistaken. The best photographers in the world say the contrary. Marc Adamus for exemple, one of the most famous landscape shooter is not using at all exposure blending anymore (he was always bracketing before) since he has a D810 because the DR is so high, it is unnecessary. I believe his work does not look like puke: https://500px.com/maphoto Secondly, I bought and owned the Canon 5DIII, Canon Rebels and multiple Nikons as well as Sony A7R II and so on and I can confirm 100% what you say is completely wrong. Indeed on a Canon body, when you push the dark areas a bit it becomes puke full of noise. I experienced that myself and this forces me to bracket my shots. BUT here is the catch: I usually cannot bracket because my process is always to do a TIMELAPSE of a landscape scene that I will use later in a video, then extract one RAW picture from it (from the best moment of the sunset let's say) and process it as a still. So I need a good DR cause I can't bracket during a timelapse. Here is an exemple I made with a Nikon body, it is a RAW picture from a timelapse, with heavy work on the shadows, especially the trees that were BLACK in the picture: https://500px.com/photo/116251089/star-over-assiniboine-by-loup-fsr?ctx_page=1&from=user&user_id=860266 Now Andrew does that look like puke to you? And here is the thing, when I do the same thing on a Canon body, it indeed looks like puke. Same on M43 bodies like the GH3 (that I owned). All the good shots you can see from a canon body in my gallery are bracketed shots because the single exposure looked awful as soon as I push shadows. Each time I could not do a timelapse. Now what Canon did with the 80D, 1DXII and 5DIV is different. They improved well their base ISO DR, but it is still short of what Nikon is doing. Yes Canon pros are happy with landscape: either they bracket, either they switch which you can see is the case for a LOT of pro landscape shooters over the web. Canon stays the king for sport, weddings, journalism and so on. They have amazing lenses, good AF, good support, good noise but no good DR
  4. 1DC is completely outdated for stills for landscape. The DR is awfull, a Nikon D5200 4 years old does better. Also it does not have DPAF. Way to big for me (travel) But I agree that its image is beauty, and that it is a fine camera for sport shooters or non landscape people. I also agree that the competition does not do amazing camera. At least Sony tries to give us the best specs but they are beginners. Poor ergonomics and so on. This will improve with time. What is frustrating with Canon is that they already have what we need in their hands they just dont give it to us for obscure reasons. Yes. I wish there would be people like Apple and Samsung getting in the business. Well Samsung dit it and dit it well with the NX1. Impressive technology for a "first" try. But they seem to be not much interested in this business. They would put big efforts like they did to copy Apple over the years, that would be great. The problem with Canikon is that they are japonese companies. Way to classic/conservative approach. We miss an american player to give us a beast that is very expensive, and some Korean to give it to us for less money
  5. Nikon has Flat profile, which is amazing. They do not have C-LOG because they did not develop it in the first place and they did the Flat profile. My point was, Canon already has developed C-LOG. It is there, it exists, do you get that? So no reason not to put it in the 5D except market protection. Canon stinks. I can't wait for them to die like Kodak did, it will be well deserved. 5 years we wait their camera to get nothing. They could have done 4k FF with the 300mbps codec of the X10 and CLOG and the 5DIV would have been an amazing camera for video and photo. Just 2 specs, that are ALREADY existing on canon products. 2 easy specs. Fuck that seriously, they take us for pigeons and they are right to do so. Because the thing is people will still buy their shit.
  6. The GH5 will probably not come in sept because of the earthquake. That being said, I agree, DPAF would be amazing on the GH5 and it would make it, together with IBIS, 4K60p, 120fps FHD, 422, an INSTANT buy for me even though that would means I have to get a separate camera for stills (I wait a do it all body for years). At least there are multiple advantages to have two bodies: Be able to shoot some video while my still camera records a timelapse. Be able to have the proper settings done on each ready to shoot stills or video (this was the most hassle on my A7RII, having to change multiple things when I either take a pic or a video). Then it is gonna be a D810 for stills for me, best landscape DSLR of the market for 1900$ brand new (grey market) + GH5. For the cost of a 5D4 I will get way better DR and stills, way better video specs. That is, only if Pana gets us the DPAF as @Andrew Reid said. Which they wont....
  7. Yes and by the way: http://www.lesnumeriques.com/photo/salon-photo-nikon-ne-interdit-rien-mais-reste-prudent-n46921.html Basically the President of Nikon France saying last year that the 1 series was a mistake (and apparently it is rumoured to be stopped now), but more importantly that they are working on mirrorless stuff and that "for video we do not have a huge past so it is more difficult for us than some other brands that had video departments in the past but from now on, when we develop a new camera we think PHOTO and VIDEO." That's awesome. D500/D5 are anyway not the type of cameras that would attract video users. They are made for sport, birds, etc. So I am curious to see in next Nikon mirrorless and D820/760 if we get exciting video things. As from what you said indeed Sony is the only one providing good stills/video cameras at the moment but I can't live with speedboosters and so on. Not to mention the ergonomics and other shits. I bought an A7RII by the way that I used for this video below. But I sold it right after. Horrible to use and too expensive system (body more expensive than a 5DIV, lenses crazy expensive...)
  8. Yes but it is not enough. And not some more things are missing like proper AF like Sony A6300 AF for exemple or just a FF body mirrorless. Also what has been done in the D5 is not great. Huge crop.... Sony can do good spec but they dont have the experience of canikon (parc of lenses, good ergonomics and color science,...). We know why Canon doesnt do it (market protection) but Nikon.... They could have become the new video DSLR player like Canon did with the 5D2. Now if tomorrow Nikon releases a D820 with same specs as A7RII (FF 4k + S35K full read out, decent AF, 42mpx,...) except it obviously gets Nikon ergonomics, Nikon lenses, Nikon sensor processing (colours and better DR) then it is an instant buy for me. They will release this camera except it wont have FF 4k (just cropped), wont have good video AF and wont have tilt screen (thats for the D7xx). Canon we have to wait 5 years before seeing something. Panasonic we will have a good video GH5 but wont work for me with stills. We are left with Sony. Hopefully they release a A9 but it will cost an arm just as their lenses. Well, looks like I will have to wait some more years before having finally a good FF still/video camera.
  9. Use only proven spec to ensure cameras work well is one thing. Cripple a 3500$ camera just to protect your 10k$ one is another. Why not adding C-Log for example? Is that something that will put in danger the 5D reliability....? stop defending Canon when they do shit.
  10. D800 and D600 got a 2 years upgrade so new body should be here now. \ But probably next year. This year we will have a APSC or FF Nikon Mirrorless. Canon will release soon this year the EOS M5 too. Hopefully the Nikon is FF...
  11. You guys are extraordinaire. GH4 a bad Motion look ingé fake and electronic. Not it does not make sense. Pure BS, and I bet 1000$ I can find you multiple GH4 videos that look way more filmic than any video you have ever made on any of your canons. Anyway, canon is releasing a XC15 in September. Curious to see what will evolve... Such a shame that they crippled so much the 5D. What I don't understand though is why Nikon who does not have an EOS Cinema line to protect does not push great video features. Imagine a D750 with full video capability (FF 4K with Nikon flat profile,...)
  12. That's insane. Can the mods and andrew help? @Andrew Reid can you contact ALL major websites (DP review, canonrumors, dvx,...) so that they can ban ebrahim AND is IP? They will more listen to you than a random guy.
  13. You praise Canon and say Sony sucks the whole time but you have bought EVERY camera sony ever made and 0 Canon. You must be a real idiot? Exactly... He does not work for Canon, but I agree this is really funny. "Specs look great, codec is the main selling point and the crop is welcomed." LOL. Awesome to buy a FF body with huge FF glass to have a M43 crop indeed. That's a revolution! Matthias you are amazing.
  14. Full spec completely updated. Say bye bye to C-LOG http://www.canonrumors.com/full-specifications-images-of-eos-5d-mark-iv/ This is completely underwhelming. The only think left to Canon is DPAF and the lenses. Nikon make way better stills camera (the D810 2 years old explodes any canon on the market), Sony and Panasonic make better video cameras. Yet half the planet will buy this shit.
  15. I see that I am not the only one who wish a good still photo video FF body. I want a Canon 5D mirrorless body with tilt screen (with canon durability and ergonomics) with A7SII video specs (4K, good slowmo, IBIS) but with Canon sensor and color, Nikon D810 DR for stills and canon DPAF. How on earth this is still not available ? Asking this since 3 years here on EOSHD. This will never come by Pana who does M43 which is shit for stills. So we have SonyCaNikon. Canon will never have the specs. Sony well apparently they do redesign their menu and will release a good specced A9 and A99 but at what cost (price and flaws..) and Nikon well they disappointed clearly in 4K but who knows with their first FF mirrorless next year they might surprise us.
  16. http://www.cameraegg.org/canon-eos-5d-mark-iv-full-specs-and-images/ Well so we will have 4k30fps with DPAF. No 4k60fps and no 120fps in FHD. 8b 422 MJPEG 500mbps confirmed. Only thing we do not know is CLOG or not and the crop in 4K. On my side I do not know what to do: GH5 with full video spec (4k60p, log, IBIS,..) but without DPAF which is essential to me + a D750 for stills 5DIV that does good stills and video but no IBIS and no 4k60p and log Wait for Sony A9 or Nikon D810 replacement...? Sounds like we wont get a FF body that does everything well this year again.
  17. This whole thread is absolutely ridiculous. First of all you are the most naive people I have ever seen. All saying Ebrahim was amazing, and even a friend. Lol, how can you be friend with someone behind a PC you dont even know? It has always been clear to me that this guy is a pure lier, spending his time advising people based on research saying he used the gear when he did not. I have had a couple of debates in some threads with him and this was clear as water. Then the scam thing. So he sends a post in this thread saying he his the grandfather and he doesnt know at all how all of this happened ? Then everyone believes him. LOL seriously.. .And now you are all like we are going to destroy his life. Seriously ? You look like school kids. People have been scammed because they are naive. You thought you were friends with this ebrahim cause you were naive. STOP to listen to everything you see on the internet, get out go get some real friends in the real life and grew up a little bit, honestly. Now I am sorry for the guys who lost their money to this asshole. Hopefully they get paid back.
  18. Great DR? APSC Nikon D7200 has 1 full stop more of DR. I would not call that great, sorry. The 5DIV needs to reach 14 stops at least which is not impossible if you compare the D5/D750/D810 : the more mpx, the more the DR.
  19. You forgot a very very important point: Autofocus. Panasonic really lacks a good AF and if we could have a similar AF as A6300 that would be really awesome. Just because of this I will hesitate between 5d4 and GH5
  20. Yes but significant improvement of a mediocrity does not necessary give something great. Actually the DR is still less good than on a 600$ D5500. Is this acceptable for 10 times the price? You judge.
  21. Breaking: In the video presentation on BH it says it does RAW video in full HD.
  22. Thats pure blabla. I actually Prefer my 50mm at 2.8 on FF than the 24mm pany 1.4 I had on GH3. Not to mention my 50mm FF costs less and that when I use it wide open all of what you say is not only incorrect anymore but the look completely blows out the 24mm. Come back on earth. This lens is completely overpriced and you will never achieve FF results with M43. It has its own advantages (size,..) but please dont try to go in the IQ territory.
  23. This is the most ridiculous post of 2016 on Eoshd. AF like the one on the 1DX2 is a real game changer for anything like fast street shooting, tracking, Gimbal use, and so on. It as never been used before professionally because it sucked in video. It is the same in photo. Before people used to shoot manual, since the AF is good all pros shoot with AF. Go see a pro sport photographer and tell him only grand ma should use AF. You are a real idiot @Andrew Reid of course the lens is about the look you are right. But the subject isolation and DoF is also a criteria. I am not saying it does everything but it is something and on this point M43 is not FF. I am fine with it though, my biggest concern with M43 is more for landscape stills. I agree that the subject isolation can be good enough on m43 especially with the right lenses. did you try the new 42.5 f1.7 apparently it is almost as good and 3 times less the price. Could be a great cheap combo with this camera. And the new OIS on it is a killer with the dual IS apparently.
  24. Thank you. Great article. "No, it isn’t a full frame lens. No, that doesn’t matter, because it has the same look as the Noctilux and when it doesn’t, it’s your fault" Well it is a big statement and I don't see how a f2.4 aperture equivalent can look the same as a FF f1.2 in term of bokeh and subject isolation. That would deserve a comparison. The GX80 looks great but it is a non buy for me. We will have in 3 months the exact same camera the GH5 with better ergonomics, 4k60p, same stab, FHD120p, log... So why bother spending 500? It's not like the GH5 will cost 6000$ anyway I am currently waiting with a D5500. For people with very low budget however it's a very nice option. Hopefully we get a decent video AF in the GH5 otherwise it will again be a non complete product..
