    Thanks but I don't use AE and to be honest I decided against the GH5 for the time being. I actually just bought another FZ2500 on the cheap. The 5D3 already fills most of what I need in a camera and then for anything quick and dirty, I'll use the high bitrate, all-i, 1080p from the FZ2500.

    Ok. I have bmpcc, gh2 and Sony rx10ii. But after i saw files from gh5 i decide to sell all of my cameras.

    RX10ii - really good camera, but i can`t get good colors and it makes me crazy.

    bmpcc- IQ is superb but no HFR, bad battery life and monitor. No stab

    GH2 - is my old friend. But too old for now :)

    GH5 is my next camera i think

  2. Just take your tiffs and apply Lumetri Color in AE

    For my eyes looks less filmic than author grading examples but really natural and good for documental work

    Those tiffs are exported directly from the VLog files. The lut I posted only makes small changes to hue and saturation. You have to add contrast and adjust saturation after the lut is applied. Or try some Arri luts on top of my lut.

    Got it! Did you upload final grading LUT? Is it possible? I really like how it looks

    I white balanced from the colorchecker passport WB target in direct sun at noon. It's almost identical to the daylight preset.

    Thank you.

    Can you tell me, please, what did you do with this tiff   files: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1exEpCRAfgFdi1FZ3hma09YZms in terms of color correction?

    is it  VLOG straigh from the camera, or you apply any CC? Just download your  VLog to ML colour.cube and try to put on tiff files, but no effects.

    Thank you again! I`m thinking about gh5 after your footage!

    Tried to match both cameras, actually they look the same now (like 99%)

    The GH5 needed like 12 nodes (with the filtering included) while the BM46k only one (ARRI LUT in Resolve with curves and added saturation). :bawling:
    But at least you can match them.

    Here's the video (don't watch in Chrome browser, colorshifts)

    @AaronChicago
    Can I set the video to public so it may help other potential buyers?

    Looks good.

    is it possible to make a GH5 vlog to blackmagic mini 4.6k filmlog? So than you can apply second final lut (like arri lut) to achieve this final look? Thanks

    P.S: will you share this LUT?

    At least that is an argument that makes sense. What does "compressed" noise look like?

    Well, It looks like denoised noise. Skin becomes more plastic, but you still can see fine details. So 265 is only for stream video: really good looking in low bitrate. As you know h256 was made for delivery content to  mobile devices: small size, good IQ.

    Check this image. Original footage from h265 cameras looks better, but blocking compression do something with overall details

     Sravnenie-h265.png

    Best example of hi bitrate h265fail - Look at the grain and man`s hand (yak)... In original resolution (this images was downscaled) the difference would be more obvious

  6. Hi! Any tests? ) Can`t wait to see  how good slr magic variND in terms of IR polution and color shift. I try to decide which one to buy:  hoya pro nd 16 and 4, or this variable nd filter. As i know tiffen variND  is not good with blackmagic cameras, not sharp,  have red color cast  e.t.c... So i wish to see how good this new magic SLR variND.. Can`t find any tests...

    Thanks

  7. I'm an amateur, so can be wrong, but I was thinking, for extreme low light (instead of Nokton's 1k$/1lens) to use upcoming Speedbooster (400-500$) or LensTurbo (200$) + lenses like:

    Any modern 50mm/1.4 (400$) -> 36mm/1.0

    Samyang 24mm/1.4 (600$)  -> 17mm/1.0

    Sigma 20mm/1.8 (600$)       -> 14mm/1.2

    Or more cheaper: LensTurbo (200$) + Canon FD (50/1.4, 24/2.0 ...) (100-200$)

    The only problem is very wide angle.. Not many options.

    Probably will use SLRMagic 12/1.6 or Olympus 12/2.0 .. but it's still ~35mm FF equivalent.. Have to test if it's enough for me.

    And I hope to see more m4/3 lenses in future.. like anamorphic SLRMagic?...

    Yes!

    Samyang 24mm/1.4 (600$)  -> 17mm/1.0

    Sigma 20mm/1.8 (600$)       -> 14mm/1.4 ~ 40mm on BMPC

    Nice variant.  When should we expecting of metabones speedbooster?

    By the way, Panasonic 25mm 1.4- nice choise

  8. For me BMPCC rules :). I'm not professional and it covers everething I need:

    1. really pocketable when needed [5D is huge]:  BMPCC + pancake (12mm Oly, 20mm Panas..)

    2. excellent RAW workflow: compressed RAW + free DaVinci Resolve Lite (couse it's 2k video)

    3. flexible: can use my cheap Canon FD, m42 and my wife's Nikon (or whatever she finally choose) lenses... + upcomming SpeedBooster/LensTurbo

    4. cheaper (for me): can use any lens I already have + cheap SD cards = 2k$ (with 1-2 pancakes) and I'm all set.

    And I don't need stills. I have a wife for taking pictures ;).

    Thanks! You are right here. I am thinking about 17.5 mm nokton 0.95, but it's so expensive!A little pity that BMPC can't shoot 60fps

  9. Right now everybody raves about the Mark 3. I sonetimes wonder how long they know the routines to be so easily and repeatedly impressed. Didn't they see
    them come and go often enough to realize a pattern?

    The 5D's raw is 8-bit only. Though I admit it's a big success and a decided improvement, this isn't IT! Not as good as the 2 5 k BMCC, imho.

    With ML 5d have 14bit RAW DNG. Why are you talking about 8bit H.264?
  10. Hi! I think that mark 3 would be a good decision. BMPC + 12mm +25mm = 2 500 $...
    Cheap cctv lens would not be good in my opinion, maybe upcoming tests will show me that i`m wrong .

    Mark 3 is around 3$. You will have no alliasing and moire.  After fixed ML it will shoot 2-3k, 60 fps in 1080p e.t.c. AND finally- you have not only the video camera, you have the best photo camera)
  11. Hi! I`m looking for a lens to attach on  BMPC, but, the choise is so hard... The bad thing is a crop factor, which is 2.88 as you talking here.
    I`m really hope, that the spec details is not final, and the crop would be 2.6. If so, we will get true 1920px cut from  2.5k image. And all the lens be good and quite similar as on cinema camera, i think. maybe a little soften.

    But if  crop will be x3, i think i`ll buy  sharpest lens, so i can to get  much detailed image.

    I`m affraid that if  crop 3 image will looks to much, blurry and detail less.

    What do you think?
