    PROVE THEY HAVE THE GOODS

    - Request to see photos of the item being sold with their EOSHD username displayed alongside it, preferably in handwriting on piece of paper so it cannot be faked.

    COMMUNICATE

    - Check their forum posting history, see if they are new. If they have a genuine history of posts and contributions to the forum, the seller is more likely to be genuine.
    - If possible speak with the seller by telephone
    - Until a deal has been closed, converse with the seller openly on the forum

    ASK FOR ID

    - Get a real name, address and ID
    - If they refuse full details on privacy grounds, ask to continue the deal and all private comms via eBay instead of the forum

    USE SAFE PAYMENT METHOD

    - DO NOT use Western Union or wire transfers
    - PayPal is preferable over bank transfers
    - Ask if they accept cash on collection

    SELLERS

    - Sellers should provide a price in the main topic
    - Sellers should provide a link to their feedback on eBay and be contactable via their eBay account
    - Topics that don't meet these rules may be at risk of being deleted

    DISCLAIMER

EOSHD is not responsible for buying and selling on the forums, deal at your own risk and buyer beware

I think the whole sharpness thing really depends on the condition of your copy & opinion.
I was certainly amazed when i got mine, as i'd heard the softness BS circulating too.
The only thing i've found sharper than a 36/54 or Kowa B&H is the tiny Iscomorphot S8/x2 (fixed focus).
I think most people use the 36 with a +0.4 diopter & that makes it sharper - the same is true of the 54.

    I use a 60D, so the widest i can go is 30-35mm, but can't use a 72mm diopter (82mm & above).
However, with ML Raw you can choose your crop & at present i'm using a 24mm taking lens with 72mm diopters!

The real plus for the 54 is that it has tons more character than a 36 (i much prefer it to the 36 i had).
Downside is the weight (1kg)/size - it can dwarf your taking lens & you'll need a rig (but i've handheld with it too).
I've also found it can be a bit more picky with the taking lens (so far Taks & Nikons are the sharpest, but Russain lenses are really nice too).

I'd say go with a Jupiter 9, it's a great match. The Tair 11 is also awesome.
    I use a 5D3 as well, and tested these with a Kowa B&H. :P

Beware of fraudsters isco hunters. Not sure if it was through my post here or on dvx, but i got a private email today from a guy selling one and once we got through to payment he had an excuse for every form of secure payment.

    Cheers

-update- seems it was through my dvx forum post. Turns out he had a bunch of other bogus listings going. Been shutdown.

Looks great! Impressive production quality. I have a Kowa B&H and usually find i get a fair bit of distortion at the edges if I go down to a 35mm lens, I can see you cropped the sides though to get rid of it and also to minimize the 2x stretch. How did you manage to frame/stage things in anticipation of cropping? I'm trying to sort out a system as the 2x is too much for my tastes, maybe putting some tape on the viewfinder...or just buying an iscorama :P

Century make quite a few very high quailty x0.8 and x0.7 adapters
thay all have great glass as Century are made by Schneider in Germany

you need to find one that has a slightly bigger rear end to your anamorphics front end
so measure your anamorphic front diameter

Also Olympus x0.8 is very very sharp and cheaper
I use the olympus alot too

both have a plus effect in that they SHARPEN UP your image !!

I always use these on my Tecnoir 15mm rod rig to hold it all
those adapters are big and heavy!

stuff can be repaired it can still be used the main issue is the theory goes top wack..top price perfect condition.
crap condition or not perfect less money simples.
many sellers price for perfection regardless of  shit condition.
on auctions sometimes the high bidder does not help.
at some stage in the future someone is gonna have to break the lens down and repair.
that price should be minus factored by a least 300-500 euros.

best iscorama ever :) the holy grail in the old days the last one with the beaulieu part had damage and was over priced for condition. if it is a relist it is worth 1400 euros. in perfect condition it is worth at least
    3000 euros .

    in the future more.
with all this raw hacking even at pure 4k that is still super low resollution for the iscorama. cinegon is a schneider name meaning they worked with isco on that lens and beaulieu..
the same schneider people also worked with leica on the leicina camera 4 different teams of top optics guys..
working on optics for cine cameras
the only down  some of the cinegons around well most of them that where  made where latest  modern spec so a little higher resolution and multi coat.
super rare mc even rarer single coat.
super expensive in it's day more expensive than the cameras. as time goes by i think we are going to see more bruised and battered iscorama coming up. if that is the case min of 500 euros should be knocked off the price unless you are rich and do not care.

I use 72mm B&W ND filters because that is the thread size on the end of my kowa, you can get them quite cheap in from B&H used in "like new" condition, they are slim and i've never had any trouble with artifacts. Don't go variable it will affect your IQ.

No need for introducing the Iscorama here...

I thought that perhaps some of you might want to pixel peep and see exactly how sharp an Iscorama will be for future use at 4k, 8k etc.

So, I am sharing some of the Nikon D800 36 megapixel (7.3K) stills I shot with the Iscorama attached to the Nikon 50mm AF-D f/1.4 and Nikon 85mm AI-S f/2, stopped down to around f/5 to f/8:

    http://we.tl/9dsQGS1GN7

These are the full .NEF raw files, works in newer versions of Lightroom & Photoshop. Keep in mind that wetransfer keeps the files available for 2 weeks only!

Since they get shared on the web now, I guess you can do anything you want with these files / re-post etc, as long as noone else steals the credit for them :)

Might be a nice thing to view for you who consider getting an Iscorama or wonder how well the sharpness holds on an Iscorama. It's not as supersharp as just the 50mm or 85mm lenses by themselves only - but in my opinion Iscorama would look lovely in 4k.

    Greetings all,

This is my first post here but I've lurked for quite some time, particularly in the anamorphic forum. I recently bought an Iscorama 36mc 1.5x anamorphic lens from another member here (QuickHitRecord) and wanted to share some of the results I've been getting.  This lens has quickly become my favorite lens!  A refreshing change from the perfect/sterile "Canon L glass look".

    http://vimeo.com/65643270

    Camera:
75% Canon 5D Mark III (more towards the beginning)
25% Blackmagic Cinema Camera (more towards the end)

    Lenses:
    Vivitar 28mm 2.5 M42 mount + Iscorama 36mc 1.5x
    Iscorama 50mm 2.8 M42 mount + Iscorama 36mc 1.5x
    Canon 85 mm 1.2L + Iscorama 36mc 1.5x

    Adapters:
    Genus 77mm variable ND filter
Polaroid 72mm Close-Up +1 filter (only on a few tighter shots toward the end.)
More thoughts in the description on Vimeo.  What do you think?

Also, I don't know how first posts are supposed to go or what's considered cheesy but I just wanted to say I look forward to becoming a more active member of the community here.  I hope to learn much and contribute where I can.

make sure you buy genuine cokin filters if you buy them on ebay - real ones have Cokin screen printed in white on the front bottom right hand corner
    this is a genuine cokin:-

but you can buy a generic holder and lens rings these work fine and are cheaper off ebay
just dont use the filters that come with it they make your image soft!!

I have spent alot of time testing nearly every ND filter made to find the best that work well on Pansonics and Canons
and Cokins for me work best and they are cheap - as NDs are a disposable items - they do get scratched , dropped and broken on jobs alot!!

These Jacobs NDs are made by Cokin and provide the same glass as the Cokin P system - BUT they are screw on normal filter
I use these alot too they are great - and cheap too - I cannot stress how good these are
