  1. What about power? Is purchasing a separate battery an option (as a back up) Seems like a good idea to me (?) I apologize if this isn't an option with this camera, I am just not familiar and haven't read the specs. Curious what others had planned.
  2. Can anyone recommend a good mid-grade memory card that might work best for shooting with the GH4?
  3. I'm Canon camp due to timelapse (lens trick and true/consistent bramping). However, I have always felt the Nikon D800 simply has a better image. Gray market prices on the D800 really had my attention of late. However, I am waiting for GH4, which will satisfy my video aspirations. I worry this hack may be one month late, but I hope I am wrong. I wrote to key players at Nikon early this year and gave examples on how some OS flexibilities might translate into significant sales. No answer or response from them, and I am not surprised. If this hack is successful and adopted, it would help Nikon to at least be recognized as a video presence. The new Nikon "flagship" model, their latest offering (DX4?), that is targeted for video... it doesn't make any sense to me. Something detached about the marketing strategy. Ps. If you want to make a quick 200-400k, take a picture of a small black box, offer it on Kickstarter saying that it successfully bramps any Nikon.
  4. With the speed booster mentioned in this article... the option Andrew used in mounting the Sigma lens. BHPhoto offers a Nikon to BM pocket camera option for purchase and an adapter that's Nikon for Micro Four Thirds (less expensive). Am I correct in thinking that for the GH4, either of these speed boosters would work? Or would it be best to buy the Micro Four Thirds adapter for the GH4?
  5. I believe this comment to be true... seems like a thread that addresses lens compatibility might be helpful (similar to the BMPC lens compatibility thread).
  6. Pentax 45mm F2.8 pancake (PK mount)... I notice a Pentax 40mm for purchase online... but there is no information available concerning a Pentax 45mm listed in the article. Is this a typo or am I overlooking another rare Andrew-find :D ? BTW, your blog is such a wonderful guide! Thanks. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1002136-REG/pentax_21390_hd_pentax_da_40mm.html Any information regarding the stepping ring used would be appreciated... I enjoy your reasoning and I would imagine you have a specific purpose in using the stepper pictured.
  7. I apologize for being late to the game, but if I were to purchase the BM pocket camera from BHPhoto, would this version have the 4k ability/option or something close? In other words, I did see where a certain firmware wasn't offered yet and I was curious if this has been address. Also, any idea on wait times regarding this camera? Thanks.
  8. http://www.thephoblographer.com/2013/07/17/toshiba-announces-worlds-fastest-writing-sdhc-memory-cards/ Considering the new cards (link posted above), how would a new product such as this compare to a CF card?
  9. I noticed an earlier post (containing links) to what appears to be a speedy CF card from Toshiba... wasn't sold in the US yet. Does anyone involved with this board have any experience with this card and if so, have you been pleased with its performance? I also wonder if it would make the ML endeavor more reliable/faster. Lowrie's "Mark III Field Guide" mentioned that the DIGIC 5 is seventeen times faster than the DIGIC 4... which is new information to me and I do count noteworthy.
  10. You're really fortunate... what an incredible backyard! The surfing footage was unique, especially the whale shot at the end.
  11. Are you saying that you are having trouble or limitations with dynamic range?
  12. Does anyone know anything about or have any experience with Ryther Camera? Mark III is offered at $2400 with free shipping. I've always preferred Amazon, but the savings on this site is interesting. Too good to be true? http://www.rythercamera.com/catalog/product_info.php?csv=gg&products_id=42083&gclid=CNSb7bTylbcCFUPc4Aod6mAAdg

  14. Holy Crap Javier, you are a total rock star! This video, the song, your color correction... it's perfect!
  15. http://www.theusdvista.com/is-social-media-making-us-rude-1.2954540#.UWmLUCDD-P8 For what it's worth, article based on a clinical study released last week. I'm processing a V1 movie for my daughter and the capabilities in post with this type of footage really are endless. The stills are impressive, not to mention the camera is easy to operate and very light. Stretching the footage and smoothness are my learning curve... but I purchased a more professional/sturdy tripod and this should help.
  16. Thanks Catsin, I missed that. There is one thing that still doesn't make sense to me yet. The Nikon 800, the Canon Mark III, and the 1DX... all of these cameras do not have the ability to capture at this level? Am I right in thinking that the new BM Pocket does not capture raw as well? One NIB video suggested that it didn't. I haven't read anything about it yet.

  18. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/nikon-coolpix-a-black/4505-6501_7-35626828.html So this camera wouldn't burst shoot in the same way the V series does?
  19. Thanks Tim, beautiful child and beautiful work. I appreciate your efforts in sharing, very helpful. Does anyone on this thread have any advice regarding the Twixtor program? I'd love to get an idea on cost and the best place to download. It would also be nice if anyone would post links to instructional videos that explain the plug-in.
  20. I then found that using the included and free Nikon ViewNX2 I could batch convert each 30 frame burst to TIFF's and although I believe it's not a documented feature of Resolve, I found that Resolve Media Pool sees my folder of sequentially numbered TIFF's as a single movie clip, that then grades fine and renders. I'm so tempted to pay Vimeo for a Plus account so I can show these clips at 1080p :-) Fantastic! It's quite incredible that I'm able to use such a low priced camera to grade RAW footage using Resolve. I'm very impressed. Problem now = do I sell my V1 and order the newly announced Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera which is priced within range of prosumer/hobbiest? ie. me. Are you able to export a video straight from Resolve?
  21. I appreciate your observations Mr. Reid! Have you had any luck with filters? I would imagine you capture some real artwork with large glass and customized settings.
  22. Would the larger number of pixels in the v2 be a concern with regard to noise?
