  1. 12-50mm or at least 12-35mm f2 :p At the price of the current 12-35 which is despicably expensive. Big lenses are fine. The omd and GH line are big enough to handle 500g+ lenses
  2. Yes the ring around the lens is the manual focus ring. Zooming is done by a switch like the Sony NEX 16-50 kit lens. Judging by the amount of interest on this forum alone, I might have to get my preorder in soon :p

Andy have you any experience with stacking CPL's on top of the tiffen NDs?
  4. BTW I was initially dissapointed to hear there will be no timelapse option. But despite the specs stated on all the websites, this video is showing otherwise. LUMIX LX100: Time Lapse:
  5. Agreed. Those tones look as natural as can be and the video is very nicely done. What kind of things did you do during the grade?
  6. BTW they are also releasing several other cameras, including an FZ200 clone. Wonder how this watering down of the brand will effect them in the long run.
  7. The latest dpreview and photography blog article says the UK price is expected to be £825. But the specs sheet on the same site says £895, which is just a bit less than £100 more expensive than the Panasonic version. http://***URL removed***/articles/9078374619/leica-introduces-d-lux-24-75mm-equiv-compact-with-four-thirds-sensor#press Other differences that I can see so far: Three year warranty Uses DNG raw format. No grip. About 20g heavier. Uses different phone app for WiFi control. Possibly different menu/control system, which IMO would be the biggest factor in buying decision. Included flash unit is named different but probably just a rebranded version of the Panasonic again. Would be good if it was different and had a bounce feature. Possibly different color science, which again could be a big decider for which version to buy. As someone who visited the leica store in berlin a few months ago and got a feel for the brand, I must say this is a tempting offer if it is less than £100 more expensive and has a comparable control system. Update: this site has it listed as £825 http://www.cliftoncameras.co.uk/Leica_D-LUX_Typ_109_black_Version_E_Digital_Camera
  8. Everyone I know still shoots with canon and won't hear anything otherwise :/ that's part of where the frustration comes from I guess. The fact they have all this market share almost undeservedly so.
  9. So so glad they went with these manual controls! Would've been even better if they took it another step further and added Iso switching to the shutter dial - where you pull the dial up and then turn it - just like the Minolta srt101 and yashica electro I'm currently using :)
  10. http://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/cameras-camcorders/lumix-digital-cameras---point-and-shoot/compact-cameras/dmc-lx100.specs.html 100mbps for 4k. 24mbps (avchd) for HD or 28 for 60p. Also 16:9 4k is slightly cropped to equivalent 26-81 as opposed to 24-75 for HD and photo modes. The actual focal length of the lens is 10.9-34, which means the crop factor is indeed 2.2x. Somewhat disappointing I must say but not a deal breaker. Other things not included: timelapse mode, bounce flash, tilt screen, mic input, headphone output (unless by HDMI I suppose), region switch ability. However you do get a pro sized viewfinder, 4k video and a lens comparable to the 12-35mm but longer, all for a similar price as the gx7 body last year. This camera could probably achieve a lot of requirements for shooting personal projects and some professional stuff. The only thing this camera doesn't achieve really is super shallow dof. For that you will need to keep an ILC.
  11. Yehi don't get that either. What's the difference between cropping and changing aspect? Still amazed this camera does 4k btw. I have been intrigued by the feature but due to my budget always felt it was too out of reach for me to care much. Its like that scandisk announcement of 512gb in an SD card. Or the power of the ps4 in a smaller body than the ps3. Now the engine of the gh4 in a compact. How do they do it?!
  12. I don't know about that. If you look at this page http://m.dpreview.com/previews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx100 The 16:9 ratio uses the full width of the sensor, which I would assume means the normal 2x ratio? Unless you're talking about 4k?
  13. Most likely just will be quite low quality. Lots of distortion and CA but correctable in post. Seriously considering selling all my gear for this. But my uses for cameras tends to be quite casual anyway.

  15. The Samsung line is pretty good. They have a 16-50mm f2-2.6, priced about the same as Panasonic's 12-35. And a 45mm f1.8 priced about the same as the 25mm f1.4. Although to be fair both of these mft lenses are quite expensive anyway compared to their canon counterparts. Why don't these systems lower the prices to get more market share??
  16. I think the gh4 has a function to get it to always shoot at 180 degrees (ie. Shutter speed double your frame rate). You could probably Google where to find it as I don't have a gh4 myself :D
  17. That's partially correct. But its more to do with the electrical current in the area. PAL territories run at 50hz while NTSC runs at 60hz. Your shutter speed should be a multiple of these numbers and your fps should be a half of that. Eg if you're in Europe, shoot at 1/50th shutter and 25fps. Or 1/100th shutter and 50fps.
  18. I think 43r have got it slightly wrong. Photokina doesn't start until the 16th unless I am mistaken.
  19. Which problem? You mean the banding lights? You need to use a 180 degree shutter
  20. Some more info about it and also a comparison video. It doesn't crop because it computes new pixels based on the surrounding frames. The results are incredible! You want to say they are cheating, like they have a MoVi and are artificially making the footage shaky in the "before" footage. But I don't think it's possible to mount a movi in front of a cyclist like that. Still, I hope we get to see more examples soon from better cameras. The quality from their test footage has been pretty poor so far!
  21. Should be *2 not 1.7. Or *2.3 if shooting 4k on the GH4. And again, it's EF mount, not EF-S. Although keep in mind third party lenses are all EF. So you can't use the Canon EF-S 17-55 f2.8 but you can use the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 (which was my favourite lens on my Nikon).
  22. Nice info but as far as I'm aware, it only uses phase detection with Four Thirds lenses. The rest of the time it's contrast based, like all the other M43 cameras.
  23. Also has This is another camera rumor that sounds too good to be true :p I would probably get this as a travel cam if it's real.
  24. So after buying expensive 35mm film and cleaning >my old cameras up, I just had to try my GX7 one last time... and all of a sudden it's fine again! I'm leaving it on electronic shutter for now though to avoid any more issues. Still going to just take my film cameras with me to Croatia. Been waiting a while to give them a proper try. If anyone's interested you can probably check my Flickr in about 3 weeks time to see some shots.
