  1. Hi guys what about MKE 600 vs. NTG3? thanks a lot! :) p.s. what is the difference between those mics? Sennheiser ME67 Sennheiser MKE 600 ME67 seems having more "open surface", is it similar to "wide lens" and "telephoto lens"?
  2. what do you mean for more sensitive? does exist any difference in therms of performance quality when using phantom power or batteries in the ntg 2? thanks a lot
  3. I have found a guy who have both Zoom H6 and Rode NTG2. I asked about this problem that the ntg2 seems to be not very sensitive, so I will need to increase gain on the Zoom H6.... He replied to me that the gain dial on the H6 with the NTG2 is on 4/5 on the Zoom Shotgun its on 9. The noise floor on the NTG2 is much lower and the recording is a lot cleaner so I don't have to boost it any where as much. What do you suggest me to do? thx a lot again! :)
  4. Hello I need to take audio in short movies and I'm actually using my Zoom H6. the problem is that his X/Y microphones are too much sensible and takes so much sound from the surroundings environment. I need a microphones that takes ony the voice of the actors also in ambience where it's too loud. is the rode ntg2 the right microphone? I wish a michropnone that give a nice volume level when recording. and give not white noise. which is the best for my zoom h6? my budget is around 200 euros. thanks a lot.
  5. I'm glad to hear it were useful, let me know if you will like it in post processing please! :)
  6. There is also a "new" flat profile developed by Canon for DSLR video London, UK, 14 May 2013 – Canon today announces the release of a new in-camera Picture Style pre-set for its range of EOS DSLRs. Created following direct feedback from video enthusiasts, the new Picture Style, called Video Camera X–series-look, enables users to capture EOS Movie footage with lower contrast levels, allowing for easier colour grading during post production processes. Similar to that available in Canon’s range of X-series camcorders, the new Picture Style works by lowering colour saturation levels and contrast during filming. This makes it ideal for videographers during post production grading processes, especially if complementing with pre-existing footage shot with Canon’s X-series models, or alternatively for those who instantly want to add atmosphere to Full HD movies. In addition, the new Picture Style can also be applied to still images captured in RAW or JPEG formats. The new Picture Style can be downloaded now from: http://web.canon.jp/...tyle/index.html
  7. I cannot consider speedbooster a trick because it cost a lot of money. Maybe a huge magic but not a trick! :) I believe this is not the right time to invest in something like this. New technology is coming I would say "wait" for the next purpose (canon, nikon, panasonic, blackmagic, and maybe other brands). Canon 7D can shoot 14 bit RAW with Magic Lanter (I believe up to 2.5k, but not sure I need confirmation). The problem in theory is h264 but as far that I can see that with the right picture style those cameras can have -awesome- colors and results. really. try for example cinelook (from vision color) for canon eos at evening and try to take the video of some friends. then do some post processing. it's outstaning really. so I believe is only a question to find the right picture style.
  8. thanks for your help. black magic cost too much and have a huge crop factor which means a lot of money over special wide lens. Now I will not sell my 7D for it and maybe I will never buy one because I will not change my camera until 4K is really ready and cheap, and for that day there will be a lot of new cameras out on the market to choose.
  9. Hello, I'm tryng to find new color profiles because in-camera color profile is a nice point to star for creativity. I use vision color profiles, and cinestyle, I wish to ask to you if you have created some by yourself or there is something new around the internet that I could try to use. for example I wish to get close to this kind of colors, those photos are only examples (they are from a VG). Thx Dan
  10. when could be useful increasing the bit rate with magic lantern? I saw vision color, thanks a lot for the tip it's really interesting. :) tips I found some interesting free stuff, this color profile http://vision-color.com/deltavision/ and those packs http://vision-color.com/free-stuff/ this for RAW http://vision-color.com/visionlog/
  11. DSLR RAW videos with VAF filters mounted on does not produce moirè and aliasing, if speed booster will relase the EOS adapter it will be close to 35mm on APSC. RAW on canon's is 14bit. maybe offer a large dynamic range than BM 12bit.
  12. hello, the last week I bought a 7D to start producing my own short films and docs. I wish to ask you if I did the wrong buy. at the same price that I can buy the 7D used + VAF filter + fast CF for RAW video, there is the BMPCC. My fear with BMPCC were the crop factor, the toy look, the battery life and and the expansive lens to work with, but most of all were that one day if I sell it no one could be interested to buy it for a high price because this technology in in way of development and in two years maybe this product will be outdated. so I bought a 7D because it's also a DSLR and in two years if I sell it there will be alway photographers interested to buy it. tell me if I did it wrong please. :) bye! :) p.s. also I wanted to take photos. (can BMPCC do it?) (sorry for my bad english)
  13. I really wish to learn how to shoot correct skin tones for example, I'll start my studies soon thanks again for help! :)
  14. really thank you Axel hats off also for me :) edit. I mean hats off from me to you (my english is very poor sorry)
  15. sorry I think I misunderstand my intuition. maybe all of this work is really not necessary. A-roll and b-roll would be shoot in different places. So is not necessary to match the colors between the two techniques. anyway it could be useful if you shoot a-roll and b-roll in the same location. if this video (which I said at first post) does not come out I will try to find a technique by myself. By the way I have not a good experience in color correction and I do not know where to start exactly. If you can suggest something I would be grateful.
  16. what about shooting on a color checker a single RAW photo and then starting shooting in H.264? maybe that could be useful for reference.
  17. Hello, few weeks ago I saw somewhere a video (youtube or vimeo) where a guy explained hit technique to color correct h.246 colors to match the RAW colors "temperature and saturation" (I do not know if those words are appropriate). I wish to ask you if you can link this video here because I couldn't find it again by myself and I believe it could be really useful. I wish to do learn how to do similar experiment I wish to shoot documentaries in hybrid H.264/RAW. H.264 for the main footage and RAW for "b-roll" (nature/city environment). For me is very important to build a bridge of visual communications (colors temperature, contrast, saturation, etc. etc...) trough H.264 and RAW. I would like to merge them in my video footage. And use RAW with parsimony (only where is really needed). I agree for example on what @Finn said in his topic "The last documentary we shot on 2 cameras (FS700 and 550D) left us with ruffly 360Gb of footage. imagine this in RAW or ProRes, Storage is still too expensive for those kinds of work. (Not only do I need to backup 2x in the Field but also copy everything to the workstations RAID and then Backup on Tape)" (cit.) If you have any tutorial/advice on how to achieve this quality of color correction between H.264 and RAW please let me know! :) Thanks for your help, Dan
  18. sorry Finn but I do not understand what do you mean for E mount. did you mean "canon mount"? because black magic sell two different versions of BMCC, the one should be micro 4/3 and the second is canon mount, so you can mount canon lenses without problems on that model. In my opinion your point of view about shooting in raw documentaries is really true. but I have an Idea, for example I wish to shoot a documentary in H264 (I have a 7D) and then shoot some B-Roll in RAW! :) hybrid footage. :) also b-roll (secondary footage) may not need for external microphones! :) maybe the only accuracy should be to shoot h264 and RAW at the same amount of frames for second. I know that DSLR shoot in 23,967 fps which is not really 24. so (if possible) RAW should be at the same speed (I believe we can choose which setting). another think could be this. when shooting in h264 try to take a picture in raw and then in post production try to match the color of the raw picture. somewhere I saw a video that used a similar technique. this technique plus true b.roll RAW could be cool. I'll try to test it soon! :)
  19. in my opinion try to get a black magic cinema camera. :) the only huge cons that I see is the crop factor, for many owners of canons lens should mean that they have no much useful lenses. you should need very short focal lens to work with that camera in little spaces. if you want to get it try to test it does not suffer for white orbs. and black holes. I'm not sure they can fix it with firmware update, someone can tell you better. p.s. BM pocket cinema camera, and standard BM cinema camera have different crop factor if I din't misunderstanding.
  20. sorry for OT. talking about speedbooster, is it possible to turn APSC into full frame? for example for a 7D, thx :)
  21. I wish to ask you is this lut needed also for 7D? thanks :)
  22. thank you, at the end I saw it and I had the same impressions about the heavy and very sturdy built. I hope to find a good approach with the 501hdv head because I have read many bad reviews especially about panning, but I do not want to start biased. edit. sorry again for the intrusive topic. :) (ah was me to rate the topic one star XD).
  23. thanks, it should be "like new". :)
  24. I ask you sorry if this request seems a little bit intrusive. Today (in 4h) I will go to see one used video tripod and I wish to ask you if it's a deal or it's better to leave. I had to open this topic few days ago, maybe now I'm "a little bit" in late. :) the tripod is Manfrotto 525MVB + 501HDV. price 390 euro. thaks for your help! :)
