black magic pocket with decent firmware, a flip screen and evf, a larger battery that doesnt count down in percentage like an egg timer, as well as the option to use prores lite in less demanding applications.

    Here's a GUI I quickly put together:

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/s9wyyfw9qvh8cfl/GH444_GUI.dmg

You still need to download the original gh444 file.  Let me know if it's broken.  It's super basic.  It doesn't provide any info on progress, but it'll let you know when it's done.

    Edit:
    A little explanation:
Download the file, mount it and copy "GH444 GUI" to your computer somewhere (e.g. Applications). Open the app, click "Browse" to specify which file you want to convert.  The output will be in a folder called dpx_output in the same folder as the 4K file. Click "Start" Select the gh444 file that Thomas Worth provided Wait.  A popup with the word "Done" will been shown when it's done. Known issues:
It doesn't show progress. If you cancel it, it will still say "Done" Not sure if it works with OS X 10.7 or earlier, I haven't tested. No way to set the output directory

I've only ever tried porting to After Effects once, but from what I remember, it wasn't too difficult.  I'll give it a quick try today after work.  Check back later, I will hopefully remember to post an update on that front.

That's right.  The last time I posted a topic here, I was working on a plugin that handle highlight rolloff better.  Unfortunately, that plugin was incompatible with many common tools such as RGB Curves and Magic Bullet's Colorista II (just to name a few).  This meant that it was less useful than I had originally hoped, so I abandoned it.

In order to overcome the limitations of my past efforts, I decided to create my own tool for adjusting exposure and contrast, Clean Contrast.  This tool uses the same technology as the last plugin, so highlights don't suffer from hue shifts.

But with Clean Contrast, I went a step further.  I was unsatisfied with the results I was getting when I added generous amount of contrast with the current tools.  I determined how these tools worked and I figured out why they were giving me bad results.  Adding contrast is a pretty simple task theoretically, but the colour-spaces that we work in don't favour an easy calculation.  And I believe that the folks at Adobe & Magic Bullet haven't realized the issues with their algorithms.

I hope people will find Clean Contrast to be useful and that they will consider using it for small and large adjustments alike.

Will Panasonic be videoing the workshop and make it available online? Then we can all benefit from it wherever we are located. It could be a good advertisement too if they use the GH3 for the video.

At this time, the plugin does not work in After Effects because it does not follow the "Smart Render" requirements.  This is a feature that is used to speed up rendering, and I could possibly implement it in the future.  As of right now, it's limited to:
Premiere only; 8bit colour only; OS X only; However, I plan on addressing each of these issues.  I have also come up with an idea of how to improve its performance.  Right now, my priority is to get it working with 32 bit colour.  That way, if there are any professionals out there who want to give it a try, they can let me know how good/useful it really is.

@charlie_orozco I'll make a public post when I have a Windows version up and running so stay tuned.

I totally agree! It would be great to have an EOSHD sub forum like Screening Room, called Footage Sharing or similar, where people put up Wetransfer link in individual threads. I'd love to play with BMD, 5D Mkii GH3 etc with my own software and hardware...

I tried to cc this footage & there was something seriously lacking with it (really lacklustre) - i just couldn't get it to do what i wanted (will give it another go, as i probably gave up too quickly).
Just think that the 8-bit quality does need a little help & the theory that flat is best is probably the most misguided advice for DSLRs. You simply can't put back in stuff that isn't there in the first place - this isn't RAW. So dialing down everything, IMO, isn't helping anything, its disabling you. With a DSLR you should try to get it as perfect as possible & then tweek it in post - 8-bit isn't that flexible before it falls apart on you.
Was also a bit confused why there was noise at iso 200?

Maybe i'll change my mind, but i'm not overly impressed with GH3.
No criticism of your footage intended (as i don't think there is anything wrong with it - just the theory behind it) & I was really grateful to have something to play with.

Thanks, it was really good & brave of you to do this.

Perhaps we could all do this more regularly, so we can really test out cameras before we take the plunge?
