  1. Unless they offer C4k 60fps in full-frame with strong codec internally [we can still excuse autofocussing ability]!!!?

which they won't do it with even paid firmware because they have to protect EVA1. So basically these new cameras are new fancy toys in town not worth looking at them for the next 3 to 4 years. Having 60fps on the external recorder is not worth shifting from Awesome Z6 or A7iii. But it is worth shifting if S1 does it internally full-frame C4K 60fps. Till then its fancy toy another branch of Leica.

@ssrdd cool down, buddy. It certainly sounds like you have a grudge against Panasonic to me. Your comments about firing Panasonic employees, snidely asking when GH5 firmware v3 is coming out and insisting that Alexa is the only way to go for quality make you sound childish and naive, not professional at all. And to claim Panasonic is withholding 70% of their tech (or whatever - impossible to understand your baseless and unverifiable bs) is utter nonsense. Cut it out now.

I dont have grudge on anybody. So chill. Camera companies sounds having 10bit is the mighty technological wonder for below 10k. Thats where my concern is.

Dint you see gh5 video focussing tests? Yes i need a new firmware adressing that.

    Childishhhhhhh!

(Above, shot on the NX1 & full frame NX-L).

The Samsung NX1 is at this moment in time the best value for money 4K Super 35mm camera with the best ergonomics and autofocus.

I still end up using my NX1 more than my Sony A6500 and Fuji X-T20, which pale into insignificance vs what Samsung did nearly 3 years ago.

Now the NX-L speed booster has developed further since my last article and I've been shooting a lot more with it.

I am sure you are sure of many things. You cited newsshooter completly in the falsest possible manner. I am sure that makes your recent comments even less convincing. :)

Stupid, while you argue about a pice of equipment i use them to do something. I give a fuck about panasonic or canon. To me they have 70% margin over their withholding/deciding when to realese technologies, while we argue about their peanuts. Can you imagine what kind of paramount technology used for below video, can you also guess budget would be?

I will soon post a video done entirley on Varicam LT and 35.

If i need high quality[with budget], only choice is Alexa. rest donnow what they are doing, except Red.

Why? That's basically what the EVA1 is...?

Yes they do - but the market now consists of SLR/SLMs bodies rather than the bigger bodied brethren.  Also the FS5 is around that price range, and I think is the perfect camera to sit at that price. I think the EVA1 is a little too expensive, but the FS5 is at a good price point IMO.

Believe me, if this was the case, the wheels would already be in motion. See Apple re iPhone 5c, for example. These are very different markets, and projecting a European mindset of cheap cameras onto it doesn't really make all that much sense. Don't forget, Sony and Panasonic are headquartered in the middle of Asia...

Here's the thing: A builder needs drills and saws and hammers. A painter needs a canvas and paint brushes and paints and paint tools. A cameraman (usually) needs a camera. If it's a hobby for you, you use what you can afford. The expensive cameras on the market are not aimed at hobbyists for the exact reason that hobbyists cannot afford $10k for a camera body.

Since internet and blogs like this made easy to understand who ripping your money more esily than other. An ameture becomes a pro in a day[may be somebody shuld write thread about pro].

To me Eva1 is a looser. lets see what they have next.

I am sure magiclanthern will enable middle codec everybody disappointed, very soon.

Nobody around here said that. So, "No!". The opposite is the case. You got something wrong here: People find the EVA a very satisfying camera. It is a really awesome camera from what the article says, which you have been cititing. But you´ve been giving a complete wrong summuary: Newsshotters article says it is a great camera with better mixed light capabilities than sub 10.000 USD cameras from Canon and Black Magic. Good low light but no low light beast, pleasure to use, great colors- even Varicam like . To use an addtional EVF like a Zacuto Gratical Eye would also be necessary with a camera like the C300 MKII, by the way, or with Black magic cameras.

So I think your post is totally wrong, completley and totally wrong on interpreting the newsshooters article to its complete opposite of what is was actually stating. Renting a GH5, on the other hand you´re right about that, is a fantastic idea in its own right of course!:)

"If you are in the market for a sub $10k digital cinema camera then the EVA1 is definitely a camera you should be seriously considering." These are Matthew Allards words about the EVA in the article you´ve been referring to :)

    http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/11/01/panasonic-au-eva1-hands-on-review/

I need on board RAW[some form of] and Autofocus and great low light sensitivity. Eva cant offer anything what i need. So please dont get angry over a pice of plastic box.

Its ok EVA can have Great 8bit codec for slowmotion and no viewfinder, crop slowmotion, Can justify all that money. good for you, good for panasonic. Its my personal opinion also i have done several projects on Varicam 35,Pure And LT.

  7. its been more than 2 years that I am using Rx10mk2. time to upgrade.

After newsshooter review On EVA1-Lack of viewfinder-4:2:0 in 60fps-No dual fixel focus, Not great in low light. Its not really an upgrade, panasonic is too late for market or trend.

Right now my choice is C200 for its internal 12bit and 10bit RAW light upto 60fps, Viewfinder, Great autofocus with native lenses. Lets see what comes ahead..

well its a funny perspective for 7500$. All the best pro..

If canon protecting C300ii from C200, thats what panasonic doing for Varicam Lt  for 16000$+accessories. And why should they be afraid if Varicam has special color scice recipe? More over its a cinema camera requires and operator, bulky batteries, boot up time etc And terrible 2k crop slowmo.  Isnt it a good idea to have 10bit 4k slowmo as main feature to advertise insted turning away few people who has the potential for spending 10k?

The sensors are different, though they use the same CFA. And really, 'not nearly as good' has a slightly different meaning when talking about the F65. You're certainly right, but the F55 has been used extensively on numerous ultra high-end TV shows and feature films and I would posit that plenty here wouldn't even know.

But that's kinda the point. Canon has tweaked Clog to get more out of it, but it's essentially designed as a 'pseudo-log' for consumer use that was able to hold more dynamic range than would otherwise be possible, however still be workable in 8-bit and be easy to pull it back to 'normal'.

    S-log is entirely different.

And that's the problem. You really need to learn your log curves to make things look 'right' - otherwise you shouldn't shoot log. Many people did (and still do) come from Canon and attempt to apply their basic knowledge of Canon log to Sony footage and then get upset when it doesn't work the way they want.

S-log3 puts skin tones at about 35-40%IRE or something. Which is super low. You look at that in your live view, assume the skin tones are underexposed, crank the exposure so they look right, and then when you come to grade it can't figure out why your skin tones look so bad.

Turns out S-log doesn't put as much information into the exposure where you've ended up putting your skin tones, so of course they start to look ugly. Then you blame Sony for not being able to make a camera that looks any good.

Man, it's cheaper than an Alexa SXT. Alexa, which uses SxS cards or needs Codex cartridges and a more expensive card slot for raw, doesn't have a full frame sensor, doesn't shoot in 8k and doesn't have auto focus.

Arri alexa sxt is by far the best camera, Motion cadence, Noise levels, Skin tones, Low light, Hightligt, Color what ever it is,  its an bosolute cinema camera. Sony Slogs are too complicated and who gives a shit learning their complexities. Sony scheme is to charge as much Arri[when u add all accessories]. With out 8k 60fps its not Future proof camera for me. 100K investment on sony, i will never recover on rentals. Where as Arri demnad is endless...
