  1. Its not out yet, it'll be going out very soon. Its a major release, with subtle but absolutely vital changes to both LogC and EC. Both are now approaching the point of perfection. You're right on. A cinema grade should best conform many shots (though not all) by taking the black level to below 5 IRE, per page 8 (resulting in greater contrast). For this video, I wanted to do absolutely nothing The goal being that if you just shoot without WBing (day preset only for day shots, and no post correction), and don't bother to color grade whatsoever, the new EC will deliver a rock solid internal consistency and flawless color. This is as direct & raw a demonstration of Emotive Color as is possible Thanks deezid! Present is on the way
  2. The color is especially off in Firefox (on W10) - Edge Firefox Chrome There is a dev option trick for Chrome floating around that can make it better than any of them though.
  3. Always Already Emotive Color 'Verde' v2.2 No color grading whatsoever All-I 2K (24p 180d) One Lens: Nikkor 35mm f2 Ai (couple shots in ETC mode) Entirely using sunny WB preset (except Tungsten shots at end), no WB correction in post *For Color Accuracy - Please watch in Microsoft Edge, Explorer, Safari, or Chrome (Mac Edition Only) - *Avoid Firefox! (Or download 'Original' file for total fidelity)
  4. I love it! My favorite mode; I'm going to release a video soon with it. Smooth motion, silk gradients
  5. These are at different WBs, and the GH5 exposed more darkly than the UM Pro
  6. Not as silky smooth as ProRes I have found, but exponentially better than GH5 IPB Going endlessly back and forth between All-I, alexa ProRes and IPB, I frame codecs were almost the same, and IPB notably different
  7. Nice work! Your grade is more in that direction of Roman's blue shadow/magenta cast. A slight desaturation before the cast might be in order methinks Roman likes to work in that low midtone contrast style that I mentioned in the previous post, with lens flares abounding (raises shadow level temporarily in a shot). He also has GHa (no GH5) and an Alexa I'll ask David if he can send me Vlog stills of those; he just sent me the finished ones I believe (I'm away from home till later this week)
  8. David usually prefers to expose brighter, and then bring down gamma in post (usually the only change made) He likes the natural low con indie style; both that and the punchier style are viable grades though (and often it is influenced by the native contrast and brightness of the grading screen, ideally all would be the same, i.e. cinema reference) The main aim is to have a consistent style for the whole of a film, for a given scene type, guided by IRE placement in the luma waveform. For a cloudy daylight scene, the face will place here, with shadowed skin tones rolling off there, etc. As long as shadows/highlights aren't clipping, you're legal (unless creatively intended, i.e. bleach bypass, crushed blacks)
  9. There are many who use it for the S now (they are very close, and the improvement is simply massive). I hope to actually release a free update for the S specifically, when I get my hands on one (just send me an email saying you're getting it for the S) I learned recently that a friend works with someone, who knows someone who has one. So, we're trying to line things up so that I might have some time with it

    ASMR

Big fan here, since '14 (discovered through VR). Many just aren't wired for it; if you are, you're lucky (its very grounding, helps me to be productive) @TwoScoops Plenty of great male asmr people too (& there are a small [thankfully] number of both who try to exploit the genre with sexuality, and don't really get asmr themselves). Those interaction videos are the category of role-plays. I'm not a fan of the style myself, but its a technique that apparently works for many (they don't want to replace interaction). Cynicism doesn't come into the picture if you're wired for it. It is a natural human drive to try to explain a thing which does not make sense (to fill in the blank space) Like describing a sixth sense, the five sensers will suspect the sixth sensers of not being altogether there, or morally bankrupt in some way : )
  11. I quite liked them! They're a lot of fun There are 45 presets in all (not including the speakers/headphones branch)
  12. @JeremyDulac @deezid Wow guys, this is so much better Why the heck isn't this the default?
  13. That might be the ticket; Chrome/Opera colorspace was a little bit off compared to Edge/Explorer in my testing on W10 Firefox is my main browser - but wow, video color is a problem there
  14. I thought your corrections were on point; the reason they were just what was needed was a WB neutrality situation. When the pre WB is correct, it will look like your post grade. And for the post grade, a green 'Matrix'-like cast or any other stylization may be added after the conversion (and the core Alexa color will be correct)
  15. When there is no reference white, this is actually a good way to tell if WB neutrality (before the conversion) needs an adjustment. After the conversion, there shouldn't be a need to correct for color balance (rosiness of cheeks, brown rather than green hair). This visual judgement check on results is limited by the accuracy of the monitor, but it is a good indicator. Vectorscope is always a good objective assessment. And when WB is on point, the conversion can really lock in. WB will not only incorporate the nature of the source, but also the reflected alteration to the source. For example, if you are standing in a yellow wall paper room with window sky daylight providing general illumination, this will be a distinct white balance from the GH5 day WB preset
  16. That's a solid approach! Most especially if you have recorded a reference WB card, you can get perfect WB. Its key to make sure the card is representative of the key light cast (for GHa)
  17. Here's what he said about the Firecrests: "I noticed that skintones tend to be less pinkish with the Firecrest on, nature’s green is deeper and less yellowish (less red in the green, making it look a bit bluer and truer). Blacks are also very neutral." Compared to his old ND, green seems to have locked in, in my opinion I use 3 and 6 stop Firecrests with magnetic Xume adapters, he uses 2 and 4, with a stack to 6
  18. Great stills from David today; he just got Firecrest NDs, which are the reference choice for full spectrum NDs (how the conversion was done), and shoots All-I 4K to a new Angelbird V90 SD card
  19. The presets will do (Emotion 2), as long as WB is corrected in post if need be (using true white objects in the frame etc.) When WB is accurate, the conversion 'locks in', and everything snaps into place
  20. Oh yes; definitely the WB sliders (or eyedropper); it a whole different bit o' code
  21. Hey Jeremy, those look great! In terms of RGB curves, you can leaved them ganged (for Pdf purposes). If you start grading for a look, then feel free to use them as desired How are you setting WB? I think neutrality might be off a touch (you can confirm the effectiveness of an eyedrop correction while looking at the Vectorscope) Eyedropping different areas of a white object can achieve different results; the ideal being to choose an area that is most representative of the nature of light in the scene, or on the main subject
  22. Ouch. Yea, I've got one too - I wrote that response on it At least it's a lot better than other laptops - my work laptop is pure blue
