Tim got a reaction from Julian in It lives! 5 year old $350 Canon 50D becomes raw cinema monster
I did a quick test earlier with Gregory's latest build, and I got an average of 69MB/s. One star continuous after initial recording, no dropped frames. Using Komputerbay 64GB 1000X card

First download the raw hack and load the modules ;) 1080p and 480p are just for h264 on the Canon 50D.
Found out today, via the ML forums, that you better turn ON the H264 movie mode when shooting raw with the 50D. Then it turns the whole camera to 'movie' mode and you get correct exposure etc.

Just change the size at the raw video options? If you don't have experience with ML just read the manual for Unified 2.3, at least you'll understand how to access extra menu's and stuff - it's a piece of cake. The whole manual is even inside of the camera if you download ML 2.3.
Hints: press 'func', the set button and use the scroll wheel...

Mark II. Mark III is cleaner and more detailed, also supports higher resolutions.

I liked the skipped frames. With the music it seemed like a stylistic choice, almost like Gondry's Star Guitar music video.
I did note the bus was a bit 'wobbly'. Any chance the rolling shutter could be improved with future builds?
But mainly, GREAT WORK JULIAN!

Tim reacted to Rob Bannister in Select-o-matic Iscorama
Hi Tim. Thanks for the kind words. I am planning on doing some tutorials on compositing but now that you have requested this I will also run through some grading as well. It won't happen for a little while though, I'm currently on my way to Maui! But I will look into setting some stuff up on my site and link a tutorial here on Eoshd if I'm allowed to link it. -
Tim got a reaction from nahua in BlackMagic Pocket CC Footage (quick&dirty) by Brawley
The lens' stabilization was on and even though it appears to have done a great job, I'm still apprehensive of the rolling shutter. I'd like to see some test comparisons, but overall the picture looks awesome and filmic, which is the main issue I guess :D

Tim reacted to Tito Ferradans in Panasonic AG-LA7200 diopter mounting solution
Tim, I'd avoid this one, since is too small for the front of the LA7200, and this bayonet mounting is a bit confusing. It doesn't work in regular filter threads, you'd have to adapt.
Try this one, it's cheaper, and way bigger

Tim reacted to Andrew Reid in Making sense of the new Blackmagic Production Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera
Don't think that is what Tim is referring to Caleb.
The spec flange for EF is 44mm and this is what Blackmagic went with.
The actual flange on EOS DSLRs is more like 43.5mm to allow for some tolerance for infinity and AF micro adjustments. This wasn't factored into the Blackmagic Cinema Camera as it would have knocked cinema glass off their marks.
Still think they should dump EF and go for E-mount.
I bet you anything there will be an E-mount version of the 4K camera come the end of the year.

Tim reacted to moebius22 in 5D Mark III or Blackmagic Cinema Camera?
Why are you assuming he can't shoot? He doesn't do a lot of stills, so he supposes he may be better served with a straight movie camera.
