1. Andrew, if you have some time when you do the full review, could you try the camera with an external recorder via HDMI? You have one if I'm not mistaken. I'm just thinking if there is any noticeable improvement in image quality. Thank you.
2. Nice one, thanks. Would be great to know more about that clean HDMI also. Who knows, it might be 10bit.. *dream on, cough.
3. Hey, So you would rate this camera above the GH2 and GH3 in terms of image detail. But how do you like the IQ in 60p? I am looking for something cheap to shoot slow motion (since the Pocket Camera clocks out at 30fps) and this Sony could fit the bill I guess. Also do you know if the EU version has 60p/50p or both?
4. I think after releasing a 4K beast the only thing missing from Blackmagic's camera portfolio is a dedicated high speed camera. That could be a big hit. The sensor size and even the dynamic range is secondary if they could achieve something like 240fps in ProRes/DNxHD @ FullHD. Of course I would't mind a rev2.0 BMCC with HDR..
5. Iscorama hanging on the Pocket. It's like when your girlfriend teases you in a sexy lingerie.. Besides I only have a few observations about this one: Well, I think the "Pocket" concept is great because if you want to you can keep it really simple but seemingly it also let's you to buy cheaper rigs. Even the best looking Movcam/Tilta cages cost like 50% less than the older BMCC ones. Sure, you might end up spending more on memory cards (I believe this could change soon with more SD manufacturers in the game) but move on to the other things: User replaceable batteries. The other Cinema Camera has one built in, but personally I like the option to change it any time because you are not restricted to plug it in a wall socket or an external battery. Probably I will use an Anker Power Bank anyway, but it's great to have replacement Nikon batteries in your bag just in case. Also there's this topic on DVXUser where someone measured the BMPCC's rolling shutter rate, and actually it performs better than the BMCC - 17.8ms vs 25ms - not bad. I hate rolling shutter and the less I have to see it the better it is. And for last, it became clear in the last few months that the Pocket's firmware gets updated more often. Blackmagic (obviously) places more effort into supporting it's new line-up which really puts the older camera on the legacy shelf. I feel more secured by getting the new camera.
6.   Since the two Andrews are collaborating lately I'm sure they are watching the forum for time to time, and the most common "complaint" was about the squeeze ratio, so a 1.5x lens shouldn't be too far away I think. There's a demand for it.
7. SLR Magic is really pushing the gas now, and I actually like the early bird stuff but I do agree that some sort of a return would be fair.   Also if you are that kind who likes to speculate the market, after you done all the tests and videos you can still sell the lens and I'm sure you will have a good profit on it until production ramps up. If this would be a 1.5x lens I would start saving right now.
8. I'm so happy that someone is finally developing a new anamorphic attachment, but in the future I would really like to see a lens with a 1.5x stretch. I don't mind having a proper 2.39:1 while keeping all the pixels without a crop, so this lens is useful already, but I wish the oval bokeh would be more prominent.
9. Well, I guess it was obvious that you will have to use different glass with the Pocket, especially if you want to have a decent wide angle. There are plenty of options for this sensor size, basically you can get every important focal length already, and I reckon we will have more options once the camera is out.
10. I honestly think that I don't understand your post. :) Sensor size vs. stability? I see no connection.
11. The quality 1080/60p is tempting, although I'm still holding my breath for getting the Canon 50D & BMPCC combo. [Also for a long time now I'm planning to publish a video oriented review about the good old Pentax K-5. That cam is great, and no one knows about it. You can bring out a lot from that MJPEG 4:2:2. With a few tricks you can get a really decent dynamic range and all the manual controls you need. Not to mention the stabilized sensor.]
12.   Don't forget that you have to modify the rear of the lens before using it. I'm already asking the guy how he did it.
13. It's an old link, ebay took it off after some time.
14. Thanks for answering. By the way you need to do dual focusing, or you can just set the lens to infinity and focus with the anamorphic attachment?
15. Hi there,   Does it have a filter thread? How would you attach a diopter to it?
16. ..because he bought a Zeiss 8mm T1.3 Ultra lens for 600 quids on ebay:   http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZEISS-8MM-/281109435689?autorefresh=true&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=zpnBXyZsOorV9ZsNm0FuVnWykfw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc   Retails around 14 grand, usually on ebay above 8.     This would be a dream lens on the Pocket Cam, it's been already discussed on the forum once:   http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/1273-heres-the-best-wide-angle-lens-in-the-world-for-blackmagic-cinema-camera-mft-zeiss-8mm-t13-ultra-prime/   Lucky basterd. I had no money to spend this month, so I was just watching the auction as some sort of a porn.
17. This is indeed an incredible news. Makes you wonder about how many pro functions could you unlock in other regular equipment. Sadly I can see vertical lines on the footage too, But if Magic Lantern was able to do RAW video.. not so hard to imagine that they will be able to fix that. I wouldn't say that it could jeopardize Blackmagic's sales though. The Pocket Cam is in an entirely different league (pricing, S16 form factor) and the Production Cam probably has the same ~12 stop of dynamic range with global shutter and a quality controlled hardware. Also I feel no advantage of having a full frame sensor instead of S35 for movies. I think the whole discovery is more likely a threat for the Canon EOS cinema line. Who the hell will need an overpriced 1DC after this? (Who needs an 1DC anyway..)
18. True, the lens is faster, but actually I would crop the 28mm to get 35mm, just like you would do with the RX1 to achieve 50mm.   I prefer the Coolpix because I own a Pentax K5, and I know how capable is that Sony sensor inside.
19. This might be an alternative for those (like me..) who like to spend less for a quality compact:   The Nikon Coolpix A.   DX-format (same Sony sensor from the Nikon D7000/Pentax K5 etc.) Great dynamic range (~13.8 Evs) Decent built quality (aluminium + magnesium) Fixed 28mm wide-angle lens Well, it's not exactly the same "full-frame magic" as the Sony RX1, but it might worth a shot.
20. That's a great little gadget. Let's just wait till it pops up on ebay for £200 straight from china. Jokes aside, probably it will.
21. This is insane!   The only drawback I see at the moment is this:     www.metabones.com   Still, if you wish to have the option to capture the full frame look with your existing APS-C mirrorless camera, this adapter is a no-brainer!   Or.. for movies, where the AF is useless anyway, it's a revolution for a bargain price!
22. Just found this video on vimeo today, shot on the Sony RX100 only:     Basicly blows my mind away, and not just only the footage, but the fact that it was shot with that little gadget. Amazing.
23. Looks like a starfighter from Star Wars - not bad! And I'm sure it's well crafted, but for €750 + tax? A-aa.
24.
Vari-ND filters are also a real pain
A lot of people seems to like them, just interested in why you dont? OFF: My suggestion to any consumer/ish/ camera gear manufacturer, to make a quality yet affordable anamorphic front lens around ~$1500. Between the Cinemorph/Sankor/LA7200 and the used Iscorama's. Please.
