Still around $20K.  With Red, they could slash prices even further depending upon the market.  With the BMC 4K on the horizon, it becomes an interesting poker game.    4K is plenty of fire power for the vast majority.  4K is a lot more demanding to work with due to the file sizes.  How much resolution is enough?  Having extra dynamic range is always welcomed.  I find with the 1DC, it is plenty of firepower for my rookie purposes.  However, there is always room for improvement.  Cheers.

FilmMan got a reaction from Sean Cunningham in Under $30 - 600 LED lights
It looks like it could be used as a China ball type or perhaps a  guy could make a ring light?  The CN 160 led lights give alot of light and throw a good distance.  It'll be interesting to see what these strip lights can do.

    I bought on Ebay today:
    1.  $11.98 for each strip light (I bought 2)
    2.  Plug adapter $1.98. (bought 2)  (of course I found cheaper pricing after buying)
    3.  Dimmer $4.98  (found one after the fact for $3.27, again I over paid:)).

Total for 1 light, roughly $19.00

I have the power adapter (can buy for $5 or so)  and clamp light (although probably can use a bowl from the dollar store).

I'll have to see if there is any banding from the lights.  The light may or may not throw that far.  I like to experiment, although I usually mess up and waste my time.  Curiousity kills the cat.  I hope I don't start a fire and end up burning my house down.  It says delivery could take 25 days.  Cheers.

FilmMan reacted to markm in DJANGO UNCHAINED - Anamorphic is Tarantino's preference - how DP Robert Richardson shot masterpiece 'spaghetti southern'
    Axel

Kids upbringing is a whole other debate.

Inglourious basterds was also shown ON TV where children can watch.

So lets separate this into how I feel.

Tarrantino films should not be accessible by those under 18.
    2) Tarrantino is not a Master at what he does by a long way. Inglourious basterds did not have amazing acting although Chris Waltz came out as the best actor.
I watched the film because I thought it was going to be a take on spaghetti westerns which it wasn't. The best scene was the opening where Tarrantino built the tension up quite well and he let the girl live which was obviously his big mistake as this later leads to his downfall. Okay Brad Pitt was the Jewish (Wish we'd done it this way) Hero Who came across as a nice good old American Jewish boy who dished out justice as a severerly deranged war criminal would. So a sort of highly wishful thinking film for jews who can never forgive Nazis. The Brad pitt hero was the same as say Sadam Hussein who was rumoured to put victims in mincing machines or his son rumoured to use a drill to kill people.
It has in the past been tradditional for the good guy to kill people who had to be stopped and do it as a neccesary evil quickly. However Tarrantino has decided the hero should be a bad guy who kills and maims people with torture in the most sadistic way his mind can conjure up. This used to work well with if it was the bad guy who did this and then got his comeuppance but Tarrantinos films lose any moral compass or right and wrong and replace it with so called real world reality which is also a lie and aimed squarely at those who have no real understanding of violence but like to think they are one of the boys. We used to live in an age where people saw dressing smartly proved you worked hard and your way up and had pride. We now live in a world where robbing stealing mugging is a good way to get those things and idiots that are proud of it.
Tarrantino might say he is only refelcting back what the world really is. I say he is defining the evilness into hero status. Stories must always have a moral compass Must always show good triumphing in some way and must never allow bad behaviour to become role models.

Clint Eastwood played a pscho gunslinger who killed the bad guys and got the gold. Morriconne added a great score that made it all cool. Tarrantino tried to rip those off and turn the clint character into a torturer / sadist nutjob and then add cool music and even doesnt use those essential ingredients that say made the man with no name very well at all. But well enough to attract people with wannabe violent attitudes to it. In doing so he redifines the hero status of mad max into mental max with torturer war crime status.

Filmmaking shapes culture and society to some degree there is no doubt about that. Tarrantino has exploited one of the last areas to explore precisely because it is sick. Sick films contribute to a sick society to some extent I'm afraid.

I mentioned that I turned to the dark side and purchased the 1DC.  I have been losing alot of sleep due to testing the crap out of the camera - I'm a slow learner and make alot of mistakes.   I noticed some guys (not me) posted a quick comparison to some Red Epic (shot in 5K) vs the the Canon 1DC (these guys only used Canon glass).  From my experience so far with the 1DC, it is quite incredible.  The link follows.

@Bruno,  agree.    The camera is a tool.   The top of the food chain cameras will deliver astonishing images whether it be the Alexa, Epic, Sony F65/55, etc.  Boils down to what the director envisions for his feature.
Knowing the strengths/weaknesses with a camera and knowing how to work with it, leads to success.  Cheers.

This is why I bought the 1DC.  The camera isn't for everyone.
    1.  Image  - it is better than what people think - knowing how to use it is very important - I'm slowly getting better(which isn't saying much for me as I'll first admit, I'm $hitty).  Although, you'd be surprised at the images it can compare too.
    2.  Form Factor.
    3.  Photography potential
    4.  Batteries
    5.  Quiet as a mouse
    6.  Stealthness
    7.  Solid, solid build - quality
    8.  and so on

I wish Canon would give better specs such as 10 bit.  The camera is really alot better than people realize.  The IQ ranks above most cameras.   I'm not supporting Canon or not supporting them - I'm neutral. I am hoping they up from 8 bit color to 10 bit with a firmware update.  They have room to push this camera further.  I wasn't happy with the price, but the alternatives for me were more costly.  Everyone has there likes and dislikes with cameras.  Everyone buys for different reasons.   Life is short.  Enjoy.  Cheers.

I turned to the Dark Side.  Darth FilmMan.  I got stupid last week.  Let me rephrase that.  I got dumber than usual.  I was talking to a sales guy about the Canon 1DC.  I said, "sharpen your pencil, and give me a price that will make me buy."  I bought it -  I still paid too much.  Then I ordered Lexar 1000x cards and another battery from other places.  So I get the camera, cards and extra battery.   At first I was questioning my decision.  Then not questioning myself.  Anyway, I won't keep rambling.   I was putting up stuff on Vimeo but the compression for a non-plus member is not as good.  So I put some stuff on YouTube.  Here's a quick shot of my neighbor.  90 mm lens.  4K footage down sampled to 1080p.  Then uploaded to the Tuber.
