1. You could fix it using the built in tools in AE. Drop your footage into a comp; duplicate it so that you have two copies, one on top of the other; make a tight cut around the spots using masks, so there are holes on the top footage; apply blur on the bottom footage. You could use a plugin but I don't think you would get any better results. http://www.revisionfx.com/products/refill/
2. I've never understood this issue people have with a sharp, clinical image. It only leaves more room in post. Here's a little something I did with Nick's footage.
3. Upload all of your broken audio somewhere and PM me the link, I'll go through it in my spare time and let you know if it's salvageable.
4. Looking good, especially Pocahontas. As impressive as the video might potentially be on the Leica M, I'm not sure what person would plunk down €6200 specifically to shoot video with it. I predict it'll serve more as a reason for people to request these features at lower price points. (pixel averaging, 4:2:2 subsampling, peaking)
5. We must find this pocahontas and conduct some more thorough, extensive skintone tests.
6. Honestly, I don't see this softness everyone keeps complaining about. If it was canon level of softness, I don't think there would be any doubt. Isn't this what we want though? People keep finding ways of degrading their footage considering how hypersharp m43 lenses are. I'm willing to trade off the multi-aspect sensor and a little sharpness for better color reproduction and no green tint.
7. Oh man, that design. I would love to wrap my man hands around it. If what you say about the improved colours is accurate, that alone is a good reason to upgrade (for me at least).
8. It should be noted that some scenes were shot with a Nokton 25mm f/0.95 and Hyperprime 12mm f/1.6 wide open. Some softness should be expected.
9. If they have done away with the multi-aspect sensor, does this mean that video will have a 2x crop rather than 1.86x? Perhaps the sensor is slightly bigger to compensate?
10.
It is ;) You have to switch off sound recording in the normal Canon menus, then you can get to 2.8 or 2.9 with that card.
D'oh! Of course. Thanks for reminding me.
11. I'm using a 64GB 95MB/s sandisk card, and I can't go above CBR 1.4. I don't see these noise improvements people keep mentioning. I really hope it's just me messing up.
12. Man, am I glad I did not sell my 550D. Best of luck to these people.
