  1. So by this same token, can you have a guitar guru who knows everything there is to know about guitars but has never picked one up to make music? It's a bit absurd isn't it.
  2. Everybody loves Mr Undone. The YouTube bros line up around the block to circle jerk with handsome Gerald, but I for the life of me cannot find any of the great guru's shoots!
  3. Certainly not off limits in GB as long as not obviously cruel and unfunny. The meme was mischaracterised by Philip in his tweet, in order to turn his many thousands of followers on me. Many of them hadn't even seen it. So it's nothing to do with Britain. Our sense of humour is intact... Well most of us.
  4. WARNING: Contains some strong language. Does David Lynch think a yappy assistant is trouble? Try getting clawed in the neck on both sides from Canon fanboys and Philip Bloom sheeples.
  5. Looks like Canon did not shield the mic input from the USB C power circuit!
  6. The IBIS isn't as locked off as the R5 or Fuji systems, doesn't act like a tripod, but it looks a bit more natural for handheld shooting. It has more free movement going on. The AF is superb. The image seems to lack a bit of mojo for me, the files look thin, S-LOG 3 is as difficult to get the best out of as ever. It really is a case of pick your poison with these cameras. Do you risk reliability problems with the R5, or go for Sony's more digital look to the files (even in 10bit)? Personally if you're really good at grading and tweaking the Sony color profiles in-camera, I'd go with the Sony. It is a real pity Panasonic do not yet have superb AF in video mode as otherwise I could recommend the S1H which has the best image of the lot.
  7. It's not the camera I'd be concerned about, it's the lenses and I think it may be time to dump F mount. I'd be tempted to get a Sony A1 which seems a good fit for your high-resolution needs plus cutting edge video specs. Then I'd be tempted to put all the Nikon lenses on eBay 🙂 Start investing in the native E-mount Sigma range.
  8. Not tried one. I am sure it is very good but I don't need 8K or have the will to spend $6000 on features I don't use.
  9. The dilemma is, there are not many full frame 4K cameras with both great AF and great color. The Sigma Fp is great for the price though and really a company I can support. Engineering led Not bullshit led The Sony A9 used is worth a look, funnily enough I find it has the most mojo of the Sony cameras and the 4K image is incredibly detailed, and great AF. I prefer it to A7 III even though the latter is cheaper and has S-LOG. Panasonic also worth a look, but AF is still a bit of a handicap. Looking at G9 improvements though with firmware 2.4 that'll soon be a thing of the past?
  10. It also depends what problem you're referring to. If it's the crushed blacks and clipped highlights then that can also be a hardware acceleration issue in Premiere. If it is Canon LOG 10bit 422 from the R5 and R6 (and 1D X Mark III) not playing-back smoothly in Premiere then that's a separate issue and means the decoding of H.265 is being done the slow way.
  11. It doesn't apply to ProRes. This is a H.264/H.265 thing
  12. It's absolutely superb glass and with build quality like that for 998 you should take not one but two 🙂
  13. How do they do that kind of quality for for 78p You can't even buy water at 6 x 330ml for that!
  14. It will be a repurposed Tesco plastic bag, I am going to sell it for £100.
  15. Hair is fast beating a hasty retreat so I may well call the channel FLATCAP'S CAMERA SHOW
  16. I take a look at what's been going on in cameras this week, with some thoughts on the GFX 100, EOS R6, Panasonic S1H and other "goings-on". Caution: some strong(ish) language. For more on my Hasselblad adventures see my review of the H3D II with HUGE Kodak CCD sensor here (past article): https://www.eoshd.com/review/guide-buying-cheap-hasselblad-medium-format-camera/
  17. I like the way they took "designed" out. So it is not designed by Canon? I like the way they took "manufactured" out. So it is not manufactured by Canon? Developed could mean anything. I don't like the Petapixel article, it seemed to get hooked up on the fact I am "salacious" and stating stuff as fact which everybody knows is lawyer speak. So you have to wonder what the writer's real intention is with this piece, and whether he got in touch with Canon purely to drag my name through the muck with their legal department.
  18. Yeah, the image quality is better than A7S III too. OK, there's no 4K/120p (or 100fps for us in PAL land) but you can do a lot of creative stuff with 60p in 4K and 180fps in HD. 60p can easily be Twixtor'd. I'd prefer if it looked a little more cinema camera and less Lumix but the ergonomics are superb. Colour is better than Sony too. For manual focus, tripod and handheld cinematic shooting there is nothing better for the price and size, I'd take it over Blackmagic's shit any day.
  19. Can't edit Canon LOG 10bit Can't display Fuji H.265 right! New blog post: https://www.eoshd.com/news/when-will-adobe-fix-premiere-it-kills-fuji-footage-and-cant-edit-canon-10bit-c-log/
  20. Yeah the S5 is there really to compete with the Sony A7 III, offering better video quality for same price or lower. The S1H is where the real interest is for me
  21. Here you can clearly see the reason I got the H3D-II 39 megapixel Kodak beast. Brightened it up a bit so you can see the sensor size vs GFX 100... It is "only 39 megapixel" but that is enough for me. I have found my affair with the GFX 100 a bit financially draining and exhausting to be honest! Who the fuck buys a 10 grand camera 1 month before a global pandemic?
