For the vast majority of DSLR shooters these cameras are a lot of money so it is important to get the right one. Often it could be a small feature that sways it for your individual needs so it is never right to say that one camera is ‘better’ for ‘everyone’. It isn’t as cut and dry.

However it is possible to be objective about image quality. I’d say the 5D Mark III definitely has the better internal codec and resolution.

How about ISO 12,800 that looks like ISO 3200 on previous camera? It is next gen in terms of stills quality.

I didn't actually use any German online stores when there, since I couldn't read any of them!

Choose the biggest German online photographic specialist, not consumer electronics Amazon, as they will get largest stock allocation.

Canon announce the 5D Mark III – EOSHD takes a first look

I thought I would die before this camera was released.

Continued strong sales of the 5D Mark II put paid to a revolution for the line, or an earlier release date. So the 5D Mark III is a very evolutionary camera. If it isn’t broke – don’t fix it. People do tend to forget what a power house the 5D Mark II was for video, and especially stills and many current owners are well satisfied.

This is great news for video on the 5D Mark III. The encoder is completely new and features the ALL-I Intra frame recording mode (like AVC Intra) that the Canon 1D X supports, at half the price of that body.

The Metabones / Conurus EOS adapter for Sony NEX is not the first to have seamless electronic aperture control on NEX bodies for Canon EF / EFS lenses but it is the smallest and most affordable.

What is build quality like? I’ve had some Metabones adapters before, namely the ones for Contax G to Micro Four Thirds and NEX. These were far better built and manufacturers than their Chinese equivalents, and made in Japan. The same goes for the new Metabones EF to E-Mount adapter.

That harsh sharpening is exactly what the AA filter fixes, amongst other things.

A great many have forgotten what an absolute beast the 5D Mark II is.

A power house of image quality with a massive sensor, Hollywood film sequences and entire episodes of prime time network TV have been shot on it purely for the way it looks. But it does have one big flaw.

This is now much reduced with the VAF-5D2.

Slide the very small tab at the side of the SD card in the opposite direction and make sure it stays there  :)

Also expecting new Rebel / 650D around this time, which could be a real bargain.

No Thunderbolt.

To be honest however, I am pretty happy with the audio monitoring port, and all I want now is for the video image out of this camera to be STUNNING. That is what really matters. Rest of it can be as unimaginative and conservative as they like...

1.11 and 1.1 are the same. Just the labelling varies.

No it is 30 fps and 25 fps. 60 and 50 are just the interlaced wrappers, in the sense that is how the 30 fps and 25 fps are delivered inside the AVCHD format.

Compared to 60D (which = 7D, 600D of course) the GF2 with hack is pretty similar overall. Colour and shadow detail is better on the Canons though.

Remember however the big advantage of GF2 over those is the more adaptable mirrorless lens mount.

The Panasonic GF2 may be a small camera but the hack is big news. Now GH2 shooters can get a 2nd body for next to nothing and have a b-cam that shoots at the same bitrate and same format, with the same lens mount and the same sized sensor.
