  2. Speaking of the Kowa R’s… If anyone is looking for a great taking lens option for anamorphic adapters the 50mm f1/1.8 can be had for cheap. $35 on average attached to a camera. There are adapters on ebay but i chose to go for a custom Leica M mount to keep it versatile. The 28mm, 35mm and 100mm have gotten crazy expensive due to cinema rehousing but the 50mm options are available still for cheap. There are also some rangefinder options but those require a bit more tinkering and i’ll save that for another post.

  4. I am having a lot of fun with the Blazar Nero 1.5x adapter and the ability to fine tune the look based on various taking lenses. For me it really is an underrated adapter and it’s nice to be able to have a compact form factor. i got mine for $500 barely used and am looking to pick up a second one for my B cam. I’m excited to try it out on the 5K mode my new Lumix S1R because it performs well on Super 35 with a little less wild edge distortion. I have a whole desk full of vintage taking lenses to adapt so i’ll post some results once I get things dialed in. 52mm rear threads make it a nice fit for older 60’s glass and I’m adapting Canon FL, Kowa R’s, Miranda and Yashica stuff from the early 60’s. The amber flare option was removed from sale pretty early so i’ve had trouble finding one. The blue flares are more common but gives mixed results with my mostly amber coated 60’s/70’s glass.

  6. The original Olympus OM3 was one of the finest cameras I ever owned. Didn’t need a battery except for the meter (if I recall correctly). Even seeing “OM” brings back memories of long gone days… ironically given the debates about MFT, FF s16 etc, I sold it to get a Bronica MF. Anyway, sorry, totally irrelevant to the post.
  7. I may do a comparison on the blog about the E-M1X and OM1. The E-M1X is... different.
  8. I had one for a while and whilst I didn’t much care for the video compared with my full-frame Lumix at the time (S1H), I did like the stills files, but most of all, the form factor; the weight, ergos, build and sheer ‘rightness in the hand’ of the thing. Also the lenses, both the fast primes and the zooms. If I was ever going to do 4/3rds, it would be the OM-1 without having to think about it.

  10. I find the timing for this article pretty funny, I was recently re-working a few files from my old E-m1x and was reminded of how much I liked the look and feel of them, Yes they are technically inferior to the current generation but there is something about them. So just picked up an OM system brand Olympus OM1 and 12-40 this past weekend..... waiting for them to arrive from Japan!
  11. Yes I am an avid viewer also. There are some great interviews with other photographers on the channel too.
  12. "Passionate people in a time when there's not a lot of courage going on" Too right Ms Obama.
  13. Another twist... https://news.sky.com/story/obamas-planned-to-see-reiners-the-night-they-were-killed-says-ex-us-first-lady-13484461
  14. I'm glad that it sounds like they'll be open sourcing what they finished, at least.
  15. Sadly, things have taken a bit of a turn which is a real shame. Trying to do projects like this is hard enough without real life turning up and kicking you in the nuts let alone having to deal with the absolute shitehawks it attracts. Hopefully things can turn round in time.
  16. It takes its core from CinePi, but the people working on it are attempting to make it accessible with a better GUI, buttons pre-configured, etc. If you visit the CinePi discord, the AltCine folks are pretty active there and seem to be working with the full blessing of the CinePi core developers.
  17. G9 II has a few gotchas: * no fan, so overheats * audio nerfed so you can’t use TC1 / tentacle etc * no hdmi out when recording with hybrid zoom Otherwise, I really liked it but it’s gone to MPB and been replaced by GH7.
  18. I'm curious, is this just the CinePi camera project rehoused in a nice body?
  19. Looks very nice, what does the build look like if I may ask?
  20. The only principle that they follow is defined by their self-interest. If a law or moral principle exists which they think would help them gain more power or wealth, they use it argument why others should follow it. But they never feel the need to obey laws or ethical principles if it would be disadvantageous to their attempts to increase their power or wealth. Similar to the Russia which cries wolf when Western countries freeze their foreign assets, but do not see any problem in the looting & killing of Ukrainians. These are examples of people who are guided by only their self-interest and will do anything to gain more and more power and wealth. What is amazing is how the common people actually voted those people into positions of power.
  21. It's also interesting to watch a number of the same people who claimed that others were monsters if they weren't in tears over Kirk's murder who are now falling all over themselves to defend the president's repulsive post about Reiner - or if not defending it, becoming deafeningly silent about it. It's almost like they're a bunch of hypocrites or something...
  22. I'm surprised that I'm just finding out now that he had a career after All in the Family. I know I've never really followed Hollywood that much but how did I never find out he was directing? Anyway, yeah, that Trump guy. Oh wait, should I be careful what I write here? Is this social media and I might need to show it at the border someday? Nah! He'll be gone soon likely, things won't be better with Vance but at least they won't be so unpredictable. I'm still not setting foot in that country until they make some changes. Am I too hopeful or is this really just "the good times" before it really gets bad?
  23. He popped up in my feed a few months ago and I’m really enjoying it too.
  24. To misquote Niemöller: ”first they came for the media. I sat and watched. They came for the gays, the trans and those who are different. I sat and watched. They came for those they claimed don’t belong. I sat and watched. Then they came for me. There was no one left to hear my cries…”
  25. I wish I could sit in the corner with a hot chocolate while someone wise told me that we are over the worst of it… then I remember that Vance waits to inherit, Farage hovers around No10 like flies over a corpse and… unfortunately it does seem that sitting back and ignoring it is no longer a sensible option.
  26. I had a similar experience with this post. He's done hundreds of worse deeds just a year in to his second term, but this got me particularly upset. He's scum for the sake of being scum.
  27. There is something about his post about Rob Reiner that has really had a big impact on me. I thought I’d become desensitised to the depravity, stupidity and contemptuous lies but this one is different. Almost like a test of what he believes he can get away with and a test of how much people around him would let him get away with. The answer to both of those is now, clearly, whatever the fuck he wants to.
