  2. I wonder how it compares with sales? I imagine Sony & Canon still top that but wonder how Nikon & Panasonic sales have done over the same period…
  3. Well I just ordered an EM1X, sigma 18-35 and speedbooster off of MPB. Trading in my Nikon Z6 setup so I am almost breaking even. Will update the group on my thoughts on the camera. Seems like a beast.

  5. e-ND filters (at least the ones I've seen) are LCD panels with what is effectively a single very large pixel, so yes, it won't have some of the drawbacks of a vND, especially including no X when dialed up. I've never noticed any polarization with mine which is the inline filter for the EF mount on Z Cam. They are also effectively infinitely variable (if someone wants to nitpick that, feel free) so they also make it less important to have a clickless aperture, if you're one of the people who needs stepless exposure pulls on a regular basis. As for color accuracy, that'd depend on the quality of the LCD panel used, I imagine - but at the very least, I would expect it to stay consistent throughout its range. I'd also be curious in the future if someone will come out with an electronic ND that allows for gradations or split filtering, etc. Landscape photographers would be all over it.
  6. Interesting product. I couldn't see from the images how it is powered, but it looks like maybe it has a USB-C port on top, so maybe it's rechargeable that way. I always assumed that such a thing would sit between the camera and lens (like those adapters with drop-in filters) and could be powered by the mount, but obviously this couldn't do that. If we assume its total range is ND3-64 then that makes it ~1.5-6 stops. Not a bad range - I use a 1-5 stop vND when out and about and find it has enough range for most run-n-gun conditions. I gather e-ND filters are much better than vNDs with colour accuracy and not messing with the image too much (e.g. with polarisation etc)?

  9. According to my humble experience, just like a very known phenomenon that people who zealously concentrate on practicing religion end up being the most materialist/machiavellist member of their community in the long term, those who see no value in camera other than specs, or in best case pure utilitarianism, end up advocating smartphone as replacement for every possible photography tool.
  10. Have they explained somewhere how they get this ranking? If one entity rent the same 24-70mm twice in a month, and it counts as two, the whole thing doesn't show any meaningful information.
  11. The FX3 really is the 2025 version of what the C300 was in 2012…every…human…is…using it. I’ve met multiple talented wedding videographers who shoot with it. So many use it. It’s ubiquitous.
  12. @Andrew - EOSHDhows the EM1X 8 bit hold up for grading?
  13. Finally someone has done it https://www.benro.com/en/prelaunch/NE1-nd-filter.html It has a nifty bluetooth controller with auto-AE as well. Curious to see how nice it is to use, but no word on pricing yet.
  14. Interesting to look at the trends... Canon is extending their lead over Sony. Nikon is only at 5.56%... Had expected them to be closer to Sony, after all the Z6 / Z8 series seem popular, right now DJI is a growing threat. Blackmagic are slipping back as the bigger companies cannibalise their niche of advanced video features and RAW recording. Sigma is holding steady, but obviously this revenue relates 99% to lenses, there cameras are a very small niche. Fuji is steadily going up... Their stuff especially X-mount is not really Lensrental's target market but more pros are seeing the benefits of GFX Panasonic pretty flat at 2% mark, it's a poor showing considering how good their specs are. Leica are pretty stagnant despite lots of new releases, SL3, Q3, etc. Revenue from RED halved, Sachtler also down hinting at problems we know exist in professional filmmaking
  15. https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2025/12/top-photography-and-videography-rentals-for-2025/ Only one non-Sony/Canon camera in the top 20 if you don't count the GoPro/Osmo which aren't proper cameras Canon 5D Mark IV at number 6, signals that's the safe choice... cheaper but still good for stills. Only two prime lenses in the top 20 here. 18 zooms. Not even a fast 35mm? Although it's nice to see the Sigma 24-70, the rest is a predictable mixture of CanSony F2.8 zooms. Not the way I'd want to shoot something but each to their own 🙂
  16. I own the Blazar adapter and have used it extensively. I like that it can go wide, most 40-45 vintage lenses will cover full frame, especially if they have 52mm threads. It will even work with a few older 35-70 zooms past about 40mm. It's a little dreamy on the sides when using wider lenses, but once you go to around 75mm, it cleans up across the frame. It also has great focusing performance - with the taking lens set at infinity, you can do it all with the focus ring on the adapter and even wide open, infinity is spot on with every lens I've tried. Below are a few samples I have handy. First two shots are the 50 Nokton around F8. With my copy of the adapter, no amount of stopping down cleans up the edges on 40-50mm lenses. 3rd Shot is the 58 Biotar. Next 3 shots are the 75 Nokton. Image is great across the frame when stopped down a bit, but there is some fringing with the lens wide open.

  18. Interesting; I'm tempted to pick one up. "Side-grading" from my Nikon Z6. I gain insane IBIS. I already own an Atomos Ninja V...could throw it on for prores raw when I truly need the color depth. Sigma 18-35 w/speedbooster would bridge the lowlight gap a fair bit. Camera seems like a joy to shoot with. I take it it is super comfortable in the hand too.
  19. I don't have a GH7, but I remember it being better than the GH6.
  20. Listening to the Canadians is like reading the side of a box. Tick, 30fps burst rate. Tick, autofocus is fast. Tick, price is just $3000, a bargain. Thousands of 2 legged sheep...following the affiliate links. And don't forget to bag that 24-70mm F2.8 for 2 grand before driving home in your white Tesla to your home decked out in grey and white, stopping off on the way at the US Camera Shop for Boring Twats, to buy a massive gimbal.
  21. The EM1X seems like such an underrated beast. Does the image hold up well in 8 bit? I’m sure the IBIS performance is legendary. @Andrew - EOSHDdo you think the EM1X IBIS outdoes the Gh7? Or at least is comparable?
  22. Also if I upgrade my camera body sometime soon it will very likely be the Panasonic G9II. I’d save a few hundred versus a gh7 body. Just love the form factor, high frame rate options without having to crop, autofocus and class-leading IBIS. I’ve also heard that the e-stabilization high mode doesn’t crop in as much as previous cams. I briefly owned a LUMIX S9 this summer; sold it and reverted back to my OG Nikon Z6 for financial reasons (Nikon Z6 is still going strong though here in 2025 I’ve got no “need” to upgrade even IQ wise). Loved throwing it into e-stabilization high but it gave me a near-apsc crop from full frame. From eBay I’ve heard, the G9II doesn’t crop in as much in this mode. id get a g9II, metabones 0.64x, and a sigma 18-35. I figure I’d get good lowlight performance from that setup; seems the g9II and gh7 don’t suck in lowlight and having an f/1.15 in terms of light gathering would be sweet.
  23. GH series are no way outdated. I definitely think older bodies line the Gh5 and Gh5s are excellent values. Even the OG Panasonic G9 which I’ve seen go for just over $400 USD before…and that’ll do 19 bit HLG which you can CST into v-log L in Davinci resolve. These cameras are also a solid value in the live broadcast space, an industry I’ve been continuing to work in. I work on some broadcast truck shows for American sports tv broadcasts; many of the cameras used there are very expensive 3CCD b4 mount cameras; small sensors but often with not just SDI but even FIBER connections and all kinds of tools necessary for high-level broadcast. Older lumix cams are solid ultra-low budget cams for multicam setups. MFT lenses are dirt cheap, Gh5 and Gh5s have full size HDMI, older models look the gh4 and gh3 still have clean hdmi out albeit micro…basically nice affordable cams you can use in multicam setups. I’ve seen some churches use Panasonic Gh5, gh4 and even g7/g85 and build entire multicam production setups around them. Super versatile. And I love how the gh5 has all the features that are just now all in full frame bodies. A 8+ yr old camera with 6k open gate, 10bit422, etc etc. Crazy! I wish the Gh5 autofocus’s was good; I’d honestly switch to the gh5 if it were haha.
  24. Same. But, if they added raw they'd change the whole ballgame for me.
  25. I’ll write a spirited defence of the X-Half when I’ve got more time but suffice to say that having bought one and actually used it they have exposed themselves yet again as knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.
  26. Right now I’m out of town, but before I left, I was waiting on a couple step up rings from Amazon so I can fit some of these older taking lenses. I think the Miranda‘s are gonna work out really well and they have a 46 mm front filter thread, which works out perfect for the 52 mm rear on the Nero adapter. I’m going to do a shoot out with the Kowa R’s and some of the other 60’s glass on both Lumix S1 R, and the Fuji sensor in super 35 modes. I’ve seen good results with Super 35 on the FX30. Here are a couple links in the meantime. First one is pretty clean without showing much character but i like to see how it could look for corporate work. The other two show the versatility of choosing various vintage glass.
