Anamorphic alignment

Recommended Posts

Does any one have a tip or process for aligning their anamorphic before shooting.

I need a fool proof method to make sure it's perfectly aligned on pro shoots. I see

so much anamorphic footage online that is skewed, so I think just eyeballing it is

not a great idea on an important shoot.

I've used a different method: I set up the camera totally level and point it towards a vertical line that I know is perfectly straight, like a doorway or a window frame. Then I adjust the lens until the line is perfectly straight in the viewfinder. I find it easier to get it exact this way, but it might be my preference.

If you're somewhere shooting where they are no straight lines you're pretty much forced to use the flare method.
