I’ll believe that the P4K gets B-Raw when I see it. I won’t buy a camera based on what I hope it may end up having.

I have to say i'm little annoyed by the fact that it took so long for them to roll out braw. It's understandable that they need time to make it right but that 12:1 braw is oh so tempting

For me this camera is fantastic in the field, the only thing I need to carry that the other cameras don't need is extra batteries... in fact, the same batteries I'd have used in the recorders I mentioned. Then when I get home to edit, it's like I'm dreaming.

Having used it almost daily since October, I'm fairly convinced I have the best camera available for my requirements, for everyone else, that may vary.

Same here. As someone who enjoys the creativity in the editing room, I love what this camera brings to the table. Post processing is one reason I didn't go with xt3. Lovely camera and IQ but that HEVC codec is a system killer

I ran into an issue I haven't been able to find much talk about so I thought I'd share -

I'm using the P4K with the Viltrox EF-M2 and primarily the Canon 35mm f2 IS and Sigma 24-105 F4 IS. The viltrox had the same firmware as when i received it, probably 2.2 or something. When I would turn on the P4K, the aperture wouldn't show up. I had to disconnect the adapter and reconnect it with the camera on, and then the aperture would show up and be able to be adjusted.

So, I downloaded the latest firmware (3.2) from Viltrox's website and installed it. Boom! aperture shows up every time now. BUT, image stabilization didn't work anymore. Downgraded to 3.1. IS still didn't work. Did some hunting online and someone recommended downgrading to version 2.3. Did that and now aperture shows up upon boot and IS works every time.

I had been considering getting an aputure lensregain if the Viltrox wasn't going to work anymore and so i can use it as a follow focus for EF lenses. Maybe I'll still get it and leave the Viltrox on my GH5. We'll see.

I for one have the issue with viltrox with glowing image at wide open aperture which has been documented in here. https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=81437

Anyone has the same issue or a quick fix ?

most of my work is either outdoor or with light so F2 is where I'm normally at but I would like to use 1.2 on sigma once in a while

    Hey guys,

i'm bad at math and i don't really get the focal lenght of my lenses with a 0.7x focal reducer on the bmpcc 4k.

I have a samyang 12mm micro 4/3,  if i get it right in this sensor it will be a 23 mm more or less

a Nikon 20mm 2.8, a 38-39 mm without focal reducer, with the focal reducer it would be a 24 mm, am i right ?

if it's like that, wouldn't make much sense to buy a focal reducer...

what Emanuel said or just simply multiply what every you have with a factor of 1.42 (even through in case of the bmpcc 4k it's more like 1.3) to get the 35mm ff equivalent.

If the highlights are not recoverable then they 'are' clipped. The zebras are inaccurate IME and need to be set at 95% or even 90% when exposing using ETTR.

personally, I've just used false colour all the time. would be nice if there is waveform but false colour works well enough for me

That is a great point. While my budget is about 300$ and the carbon fiber one is about 250$ on its own before the 150$ 502 head, is there the next model down from that?

doesn't need to be carbon fiber fyi

they have the aluminium P-204s and EP-204s for half the price of carbon fiber and only weight a slightly bit heavier. Out of those two, the P series is similar to the 424 I have while the EP is a newer lighter model white different base but I haven't tested it yet.

I prefer 500 head to 502 for monopod because of lighter weight. The 500PL is compatible with 501PL system but not the other way around. If you want, just switch the base plate to 500PL and you should be fine.

    Gotcha.

My current list is the MVMXPROA5US and the MVH502AH

I would not recommend it at all, tested it in the shop and the thing is wobbly like hell. Those tiny feet just doesn't cut it

Given the choice I would spend a TON more money on a great Tripod than a monopod. You can extend the legs on a Tripod and keep it folded up and act like a monopod. There is no way in hell I am taking my hands off of a monopod, feet or not with 3000 dollars of gear on it or more. So total shakelss footage is sort of out of the question on one. You really need both, You could rotate the fluid heard between them to save money.

I hang nearly 10 pounds of weight off the bottom of a tripod as a given. You can never be steady enough for video. Now if you have a 20 pound camera rig or more you may not need that.

Horses for courses. if you talking about long interview or any kind of long still shot then tripod is better but if you have to use it in an event situation like wedding monopod wins all day long. I only use tripod for my B-cam during ceremony and 1st dance nowadays. My A cam stays permanent on the monopod or glidecame.

To the OP, stay far away from any manforotto monopod. This vide summed up my experience quite well. my setup is a sirui 424 and manfrotto 500 head which can handle BMPCC4k and sigma 18-35 without any issues

  7. there is one thing that I found over the years working in a different industry is that the gear could be under spec but have to be reliable. It is a shame that the fuji suffered this much QC issue since I quite like the handling of fuji camera, their customer service and after sale support.
