i like your idea @Liam! i think the fundamentals are there... one night, more of a party than an awards show (?), sounds like fun! what i would say is, find a venue, get some pricing, see about guest speakers (not the ones that antifa shows up for unless youre going that direction), and see if this event can be produced for little to no money. stuff adds up! if youre trynna keep it frugal, an informal BYOB thing could be cool! feels very grassroots-y and although ofc in ohio you dont have the filmmaker base of LA, in SoCal youre competing with EVERYTHING. fookin EVERYTHING. virtually endless options for entertainment. so, rallying ppl to go to a "happening" is a whole different story... and its a huge accomplishment to get any attention at all. so theres a major silver lining there! additionally: make it look sicc. the graphic design of channel 101 dot com had me clicking away in .25 seconds... if its the irony/comedy channel then ok, but you want to LOOK professional in your advertising... the only way you rlly can with no money right lol anyway, i say go for it! i might go if i was around and thats saying a lot bc i hate doing things

yeah i agree. i mean if needed id be doing both – a thumbnail breakdown of the shots, then go into the previz software last time i tried to the software was pretty clunky and my computer sucked... now theres smartphone apps that blow that stuff away. unreal in general i feel like storyboarding is a super conflict between right brain/left brain... or something. its the old patting your head and rubbing your stomach times a million. but after i get the most BASIC thumbnails down on paper – which in fact are perfectly useable as storyboards themselves, they show focal length, blocking, etc. – then its a whole different situation and its easy. its the initial transfer of words (even words that ~I~ wrote) to cinema language that can be tough!!

oh SNAP! I forgot to tell u guys that i fixed my mac... by doing a scorched earth clean install of high sierra! and? it runs SOOOoooooooo much better i know its a pain in the butt to back up all your data, but my late 2013 imac is running like new. HUGE difference all those OS installs on top of installs were messing a lot of stuff up. big difference!!! just a heads up guys ?

the drone would have its propellors OFF, on a jib~! no flying indoors lol id just like to match the footage to the night shot going up in the sky cuz its ~all one movement~ that im hacking together in post edit: see this is why i need you guys, i just got a CL message from a guy who has "a Mavic Pro drone which is great in low light!"

ha, the DoP is me, im shooting the rest of this short with ml raw on my 5d3 i swear the rest of this v short film is easy shooting – the cameras locked down 90% of the time im gonna see if i can get my friend to do everything i need drone wise for $650. im fine with that, ill find somewhere else to save a few hundred bucks lol maybe ill do the indoor jib shots on my 5d3 and make life easier on my drone guy.... trynna figure all that out rn

ok ill ask lol: how much do you guys think i should be paying for this? my "friend" with the inspire 2 x4s wants $650... but then i looked it up and i was like wait a min i could rent that drone for a WEEK for $650 BUT ive never flown a drone... is doing this myself a crazy idea? i put up a CL ad to get some other rates note: im not saying $650 is too much, im just poor
