You guys are missing the point. This is not aimed at the video crowd. This is meant to be the next step in smartphone photography and I applaud it. The form-factor is there, now we just nee to wait a few iterations for the hardware to be perfected. And obviously, a mobile chip can be added easily, but battery life is probably a big issue with the first generation.
You probably heard of multi shot noise reduction - burst of shots to reduce noise. Now imagine using multiple sensors and the same principle is applicable to moving subjects since they all fire at the same time. Also the slight difference in the capture angle gives info on the 3D characteristics enabling more realistic software bokeh?
The difference of this and Lytro? This could just replace your smartphone while Lytro would replace your camera - and camera sales are declining. Also Lytro sacrifices so much resolution for a single trick (refocusing). I believe this will leave Lytro in the dust.

I'm pretty sure that all manufacturers want a slim, flat phone with no bump for the camera module. It's a shame really, they are all competing within these restrictions of not standing out (yes, even Apple) and going for that golden profit margin to sales ratio. Kudos to Nokia for their Pureview phone - now bring it back with 4K and Android!

New reporting is focused on garbage topics anyway, so the filming equipment has to be adjusted accordingly. I hope they are going to use that VHS filming app.

Electronic variable ND filer is quite a big deal ... keep your ISO, f stop and shutter speed setting constant and let it do all the adjusting to light changes.

Kudos to Apple for making it 12mpx since a 16:9 crop makes it 8mpx. No downsampling reduces the load on the CPU and the heat can be managed more easily.
4K on a mobile phone sensor means that the downscaled 1080p will be more than decent, so rejoice! Stop the 4K hate.

I prefer to take it as if he has been given a pre-production camera and he is busy preparing a first impressions review under a NDA. Can't believe he couldn't take the time to hype up Pana G7 or Arri's price drop. Those were both big news and I was sure he would post some commentary on the subject.
