  1. Vielen Dank Cinegain!
yeah, this vintage-cheap thing is more intriguing than with musical instruments! :P

Andy, really, you have to write a m43 lenses guide! (and also one guide on how to make cinematic video!)

  2. Ciao, there are even cheaper ones if you search on ebay, but my advice is to have a look on the  Mercatino dell'usato website  and search for lenses or cameras, you can find some really good bargains there.

You might be lucky and get a good deal, I once found a Pentax Spotmatic with an Asahi super takumar 50mm  F1.4 in good condition for 45 euros.

This lens is worth 200 euro.

Last time I was on the mercatino dell'usato website there were loads of helios. ;)

    Buona fortuna!!!

    Grazie mille! ;)

  3. 28mm , 40mm and 70mm all shot at f2 all the time in a Suoer 35mm field of view (so APSC or Micro 4/3 on a speedbooster)

    28mm for the wides

70mm for all the close up head shots

and 40mm for all the rest the coverage shots

(use a 50mm lens if you don't have a 40mm lens and take 3 steps backwards!! haha that ususally gives the same look)

Wow Andy, every time I read your comments I learn some amazing things... THANK YOU!
For my G6 and GH4 I rarely use the MFT lenses I have (Olympus 12, 25 and 45) - except the 12 f/2 that comes in handy for wide or handheld - and I use almost always Canon FD 28 f/2.8, 50 f/1.4 and 35-105 f/3.5.  Do you think I could buy other FD lenses?

I can't find the speed booster you talked about: have you an internet shop where to find it?

I also have a couple of M42 lenses: a great Zeiss Jena 50 Pancolar and a not so great 29 Pentacon. Do you have some suggestion also on M42 lenses?

When it is better to use Canon FD and when to use Pancolar?

Thank you very much for your patience! :)

  4. How many watts are necessary for a normal interior/exterior work?

Could you explain me how to measure LED watts compared to traditional watts?
I ask you because it's difficult for me to understand how many watts I need for a set to work with, reading just the specs on ebay/amazon.

    Thank you very much!

  5. Hallo!

When Movi came out I was astonished, but the price was so proibitive that I just had to look away. I used a Flycam Nano DSLR for a while, but I don't really like it. I'd like to run on all the uneven terrain etc... and with a Flycam it's not possible.

Now some other brands made their version of this great instrument: I saw some reviews and the two stabilizer I find very attractive are Came 7800 (in this days at a special price) and DJI Ronin at a higher price.

Here you can see a genial short produced by DJI with the amazing BTS:

I'm totally after one of this stabilizer but, unfortunately, I have not all that money, even if they are a lot cheaper then the Movi counterpart.

Do you think it is possible to build or use some other things to achieve that stunning results or it is better to save some bucks and think to buy one of those stabilizer?

Which one would you buy? Came 7800 or DJI Ronin?

    Thank you very much!

  6. Excuse me if I add a question to this topic, but could you explain me how to "convert" LED watts to fresnel / tungsten watts?

For instance, I saw this insanely cheap lights:

Would they be useful for a cheap set or do I need something more powerful? :)

    Thank you!

  7.

...is a Fender (largely single coils) better than a Gibson (largely Humbuckers)? or does and Ibanez lack soul (now theres a word that puts the argument out of reach LOL!!...the camera equivalent is the much maligned term "filmic")

At the end of the day, its horses for courses, I personally dont base my decisions on anyones Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic preferences or bias...I use what pleases me...and I'll bet most others do the same.

Hey, we are all guitar player here! ;) m/

  8. Whether the image is good or bad is 100% subjective, it's something that can't be discussed. I had the GH4 for a couple of months and used it extensively against many cameras, and, I didn't like the image. Do I have to explain myself? No it's my choice and my eyes that make my own work decisions. To me (and to many of my audience) the 5 year old 5D mk II looks better. Yes I'd go that far. The Nikon D5300 looks better. The Canon 60D even looks better in everything but wide detailed shot. It's a personal preference. I can't like the GH4 image no matter how well it resolves a test chart. If you do like it, you're a lucky man, you have a 4K recording camera for 1800 with an image you like, shoot and enjoy. I wish I had liked it because then I wouldn't have lost money selling it.

Yes, this is true for every "instruments", like guitars, saxes, trumpets... and cameras!
I personally was a Canon-boy, then, after the delusion for the 70D (it was good, but in the same way of my old 600-T3i), I tried the G6 and I was blown away... so, when GH4 came out I sold my 70D and all the Canon lenses to buy it.
But you're perfectly right, it's just subjective and the best camera is the one you shot happily with :)
