  1. Andrew was the one who originally encouraged me to buy the Nikon d750. I've had it since maybe 2016, and it has truly been a remarkable camera. However, I'm ready to update. I have been eyeing Fujifilm's x-hs2 for the internal pro-res options, but I also waiting to see what Nikon does this year with it's z6 series.
  2. I've been sitting on the d750 for many years now. Overall it's a wonderful camera, but I have been waiting for Nikon to give me a reason to upgrade. Still waiting...
  3. Oh I'm not saying it will melt, simply saying that over time the plastic components will experience a loss in overall structural stability. I had a cheap ASUS laptop that had a mostly plastic exterior and could have fried an egg, and the first part to go structurally was the section closest to the CPU.
  4. As a side note, even though the chip may operate at 95C, whatever plastic components on the body in proximity would not fair so well...
  5. More than likely will produce insanely usable 4k, that being said... http://www.yedlin.net/ResDemo/?fbclid=IwAR3iQoc7tnjbv_k36Txmq5nw2qREonh3SNPa8_PFt_-jTV9DWw30B3fxGrs
  6. Andrew, get on YouTube and make a review. Maybe other camera companies will start to take note.
  7. Maybe this is old news for this thread, but Juan Melara just put out a powergrade color matching the P4K to an Alexa. https://juanmelara.com.au/products/bmpcc-4k-to-alexa-powergrade-and-luts
  8. Thanks for the kind words, and for the recommendation for the FVD (I'm going to look into that as it's more in my price range). Any advise on setting the Cinelux to infinity? I'm assuming I turn the hex screw marked 'focus' on the lens itself?
  9. Perhaps I should pursue a new taking lens, any thoughts on the Jupiter 9? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Soviet-Russian-Jupiter-9-lens-Nikon-Mount/324063789574?hash=item4b73b50206:g:CTkAAOSwJoBeOejA
  10. Any thoughts on a good taking lens to help fix my infinity focus issue? Thanks in advance...
  11. Julien, do you have any taking lens recommendations for my infinity focus issue? Thanks!
  12. Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I do not have a spare $1k to spend on FM's adapter, although it looks like it would be perfect....
  13. Thanks for your input! My taking lens is an 85mm Nikkor. I shoot with a Nikon d750. Do you have better recommendations? On my full frame, I am worried about vignetting with anything wider than 85mm....thanks again.
  14. Hello everyone, I want to start off by saying that I am a hobbyist when it comes to anamorphic filmmaking, so please forgive my lack of expertise when it comes to questions. I have been wanting to get into anamorphic film-making for a while, and I recently purchased a Schneider Kreuznach Cinelux 2x Anamorphic projector lens off of Craigslist. Research seemed to point to this not being a great lens to adapt due to focusing challenges, but for $150, the price was too good to pass up. I have successfully adapted the lens to work with my DSLR, see example below: A couple of things you may notice about the demo clip: I purposely shot at f/2.8 with a ring light to test blooming and flair. Flair is absent; you will see some organic blooming around the edges. This blooming disappears at f/5.6. I also shot at f/2.8 to test center sharpness. Center sharpness at f/2.8 is very good (YouTube compression does not do this justice). Center sharpness at f/5.6 is incredibly good. Edge sharpness is not great, but also not too distracting IMHO. Now on to my difficulty (of which I am really hoping someone here has guidance): I am really struggling with infinity focus. The lens is tack sharp at 6'-7'. I have four levels of magnification with diopters, so close focus is also not an issue. However, when I attempt infinity, the lens refuses to settle on focus. The lens itself comes with a 'focus' and a 'lock' hex bolt on the front of the lens which I am able to turn. When I do this, I can feel the element moving inside the lens, but focus is still imperfect. Please don't criticize me too much for this, but there is a big caveat here- tests for 'infinity' have thusfar been indoors; I have yet to test true infinity focus outdoors with this lens (it's winter here), and I am still planning on running tests in that environment (with updates), but before I do so, does anyone have any practical guidance for me? Thanks in advance for your guidance.
  15. In regards to the new offering from Fuji, I submit a prediction: Rolling shutter. That is all.
  16. Here's my grade attempt. Some blocky noise, but maybe that's a YouTube compression thing? The skin tones are wow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaxNIoDNrq0
  17. Can I get people's take on this one? It looks good abiet overexposed.... What are your thoughts on this one Andrew?
  18. I, for one, and looking forward to Andrew's review of the Z6. His review was literally the reason I bought the d750, and he was dead on in his assessment. I use my camera less for video and more for astrophotography, but all the same, making the jump to 4k would be nice, but not at the expense of selling my d750 when the Z6 comes out as subpar....
  19. Yeah, just wanted to point out that the image looks much better in Lightroom. Uploading it to the boards somehow cooled it down way to much and threw chroma noise into the skin. Not sure what happened. At any rate, I'm still impressed.....
  20. Wow, you can really manipulate that image and it doesn't break down at all.....
  21. Mastin Labs is currently running a contest where you can win a Pentax medium format camera if anyone is interested... http://bit.ly/2xjsSvP
  22. Hello everyone. I just purchase my first anamorphic lens, and I need help with the best base lens for the job. First here is my gear: - Schneider Kreuznach 2x anamorphic lens - VidAtlantic adaptor -Diopter -Nikon d750 Notice I havent included a base lens. Since the d750 shoots in fx or dx modes, I am torn between a 50mm lens purchase vs a 85mm lens purchase. Furthermore, whenever I see these anamorphic setups, the base lens always seems to be an older model (I.e. manual focus and aperture control). Is there any reason the newest models couldn't be used? Thanks in advance for your assistance. P.S. I will be doing photography as well as film with this setup.
  23. So, I'm interested in picking up a Carl Zeiss Jena Tevidon 16/1.8 Lens for my BMPCC, but I am seeing that some machining is needed for it to work properly. I was wondering if this Tevidon to C-mount adapter (paired with a c-mount to mft adapter) would do the trick? Would two adapters cause more focus concerns? Thanks! http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/370893535682?lpid=82
