Yes, I just filmed the SEMA Show in Vegas (which is huge, I walked 24-miles over 2 days and also shot the Red Bull Rallycross Finals) with the A7S and a Movcam cage (as well as a JuiceLink, Mics, and other accessories with a JAG35 shoulder pad and grips.) It saved me. I also had a BlackRapid strap attached to sling the camera on my shoulder when it wasn't in use. Worked great. For the person that asked if the A7S overheats: I've shot a lot of video with the A7S, even in 100-degree weather with 100% humidity and I haven't had any issues with it. I'm confident saying it does not overheat. As for not being able to film action with the A7S? Here's my first run-and-gun video event with the Sony A7S. Overall, very happy with the capabilities of this camera. In shoots following this one, I've noticed a significant improvement in video quality when using 30p vs. 60p. Note that footage in this piece was filmed at 1080/60p and super-slomo was filmed at 720/120p. Final file was edited in a 1080/30p timeline and exported as a 720/30p. No, I will not make the master available for download so you can pixel peep at it. ;) Lenses include the Tamron SP f/2.8 70-200 in A-Mount (with the LEA4) and Sony Zeiss FE f/4 24-70 (stabilization off). Sound courtesy of a Rode Videomic. Since filming this I added a Tamron SP f/2.8 24-70 to my kit so both lenses will focus the same direction (you can probably tell I missed a few because of this.) I did quite a lot of this video with the 70-200 handheld on a small Jag35 rig. One major annoyance is that the record button is too easy to inadvertently hit while filming. I missed a couple shots because of this. It should be placed where the C2 custom button is located (like on the A77) or I should be able to remap record to the photo trigger (duh.) With the A7s you should be shooting in XAVC-S mode, not AVCHD. It's the latter format that shoots MTS. If you're doing adobe products, and for some reason you do want to shoot AVCHD, they can edit that format natively and a transcode isn't necessary (unless your computer is too slow to edit AVCHD natively.)

I'm replacing my FS100 with the A7S. Well, at least that's my intention. I just received the A7S and need to play with a bit more to be sure it will be a suitable replacement. And my FS100 needs to get sent to service to get cleaned up before I can sell it. However, off the bat, I don't see anything that the FS100 can do better versus an A7S with a Juicelink for XLR and a small rig setup. Given that, plus the 4k upgradability of the new Alpha, I would be hard pressed to recommend the FS100 over the A7S except in very specific uses. Even in terms of perception, a rigged camera looks just as impressive as a "proper" video unit like the FS100 and of course there are times where you need to shoot on the DL and there the A7S has you covered. In terms of ergonomics, the FS100 is pretty terrible as well. I can see why the FS100 is appealing at the new price (it is a fantastic camera), but with hundreds of hours under my belt with the FS100 I would have a hard time recommending it at this point, given the other options that are out there. (And, you know a FS100 replacement will be coming soon, now that they dropped the price - and chances are it will have the A7S sensor. Of course, it will also probably cost $5000.)

I've now owned this camera for a whopping 24 hours. Here's the first video I shot, which was to stress the codec, see how well slow-mo performed and to see how well AWB tracked. This was shot with the Zeiss FE 24-70. Other notes are on the video post. I would like an improved RS, but it wasn't an issue in this clip.
