Put a curves effect in the Effects Panel  before your Lumetri effect and pull down the whites.

    Good news, bad news.

Good news is that I have learned a lot about the srp( samsung reconfigureable processor) architecture. Bad news. It is very very very very complicated. Machine compiled c into binary. Unknown yet when it is loaded into the firmware and if the .cpp files that are listed are infact that, or just other hard ware controls

So the srp is like an fpga in the way you can change what it does on the fly. It differs in the way that it uses VLIW instead of bits to do its magic.
Reverse engineering the binary into something workable.. is possible, but time will tell if and how much can be changed. The plus side of a simple isp changing values in softwear can do something like what the gh2 hack did. The downside being you are stuck with the hardware.
The plus side of the srp implementation.. Building a custom algorithm to..exchange the hevc codec with something else.. Could be possible. Unknown yet if the nr is a part of this or just a software implementation.

Also if the rumors were true about the ml guys approaching samsung, this would be why it didnt happen. They dont release the srp compiler. One instance of them giving access to it at the SAIT school in Korea is all I could find. very very proprietary.

But the dream for me of having a cheap 14bit 6.5k red competitor is what keeps me going. The confirmation of the UHS-II bus sweetens the deal. Going to investigate the possibility of a SD-SATA converter.. I wouldnt mind having a 1tb ssd attached to the back of the camera.

TL:DR This camera is complex and things are not getting easier but still progression is being made.

I have the two s lens. I think the 16-50s is a good lens, but I find the 50-150s lens to be better in every way. It's really hard to get a good zoom pull with the 16.50s it sticks in a couple of places. It also is pretty underwhelming with its boken even at f2.0. It's sharp and resolves absurd amounts of detail.
The 50-150s is superior across the board. Zooms easier, better optics at all zoom levels, I think it's a lens that when paired when the nx1, is very hard to match from any camera lens combo. It's what the nx1 was built for. This lens.
I have the 30mm samsung pancake and I would rate it as very useable and sharp, but it doesn't have much character or wow factor. But it's cheap and tiny and good for travel and gimbals and such.
I'll be using the Samyang t1.5 vdslr 85mm more and more. It amazes me every time I've used it. I bought this in canon eos mount and use it with adapters on my BMCC as well. I love the boken and it can of course get down to a paper thin focus plane. This will probably be my go to portrait lens for both cameras. It's suprisingly cheap for the quality.
I definitely would keep any nx mount purchases down to a couple of lens with all the automatic stuff. (since they be useless with other mounts) Any other lens I get will be canon or nikon with adpaters

Guys, I am developer but being a developer is different than being a hacker. A developer works with tools that give them the functionality they need. A hacker may have to invent tools for platforms where such tools are not readily available. If we had a publically available SDK and a method to sign and upload the firmware onto the NX1 I am sure I could make changes to it.

Theres a post here on page 6-8 (cant remember) where theres a full tutorial on how to get a similar look to this one, for these, I just changed the curves to make the image flatter, when I get home I can share full settings !

This is absolutely gorgeous. I too would love to hear about your settings and grading walkthrough on this. Is it similar to the wedding you you posted a few weeks ago? Bravo man. This is incredible!

Matthias Scheja reacted to joema in how to proxy edit in Premiere at lower resolutions?
4K can be challenging to edit, regardless of hardware or software. I use both FCPX and Premiere CC, and FCPX has a major advantage with integrated proxy support.
However you can edit off-line lower-res proxy files using a manual procedure on Premiere. People do this all the time. The procedure is outlined in this article by Tony Northrup:
    http://www.rangefinderonline.com/features/how-to/Getting-Acquainted-with-Offline-Video-Editing-to-Ease-You-Into-4K-8988.shtml
As already stated, defer things like stabilization and noise reduction to the final phase after you've switched back to 4K.

finally admitting to myself that GammaDR, Sat-4,Contrast-10,MBL+10,16-235 is just too flat for 95% of stuff that's shot with this camera (with just so much banding)...
So...just shot the same scene with a bunch of different settings including various gammas, contrast/saturation/mbl amounts, and changed up between 16-235 and 0-255. Shot proress hq to the shogun for all of it. I was planning on uploading still tiffs which should contain all the editable info needed, but would anyone prefer to have the whole prores file to mess with? post coming shortly. It's not every conceivable setting, but it should give us generally a good idea of where to go from here, especially with the luminence discussion.
I maybe could have shot some internal stuff, but honestly I think h265 is actually a pretty good codec (for 8 bit stuff) and i dont think outputting over hdmi is going to give a significant amount of help even with 422... at least on this camera (i found it quite helpful shooting externally on the a7s though).
should show off highlights, a little bit of shadow (back chair with figures on it) and banding on the back wall.
