Zach Ashcraft reacted to /p/ in Open letter to Japanese manufacturers on the enthusiast video market - improve or lose it
I don't know why people still have faith in Canon, the 7D users are going to experience what the 5D2 owners experienced.. An underwhelming "upgrade" with only minor improvements and a few features that should have been implemented on the original versions of the cameras.
If you want a 7D2 for designed for video buy a C100 LOL.

Such rumours have been put around before about the 7D and have not turned out true, if Canon really were interested in pros using DSLRs for video they would not have a Cinema EOS line. As for enthusiast video I really think they have kind of given up.

If that OMD EM1 had had a decent bit rate and 25p, I'd have one by now.

"Moire reduction" image processor.
Shame about the codec. For sake of a couple of lines of firmware code they have lost a bunch of customers.
Nice stills camera though. If only Canon's were this 'ahead of the technology curve' and if only the Olympus had a full frame sensor. That would be the perfect camera almost.
I have higher hopes for Sony. Big 4K push. Full frame NEX with Olympus 5 axis stabilisation.
As a side note - nice marketing and web design from Olympus. At least someone in their US web design team has a clue if not in their video specs department, if indeed they even have a department.

So that's a grand they've lost from me, and from pretty much everyone else who uses SLRs primarily for video.
That stablisation is unique in IL cameras, yet they hold the camera back by not allowing a lower frame rate....
Totally, bizarre decision!

Zach Ashcraft reacted to Axel in Looking for some useful advice about creating a wedding videography business
Read my general approach here.
About me: Bad photographer, good storyteller. Find your personal strength and make it your unique feature, work on your weaknesses. For example, I like to propose to reenact the proposal (or the situation when the lovers first met). This is fun, the clients will allow you to direct many things afterwards, whereas otherwise they feel they hired a magician who makes their bush-league wedding look like the Venice film festival. Some videographers can.
Facts:
> Few weddings in winter
> If you want publish excerpts to advertise your business you have to be aware of personal rights and music asf.

I've been using the GH3 for video & stills since March, no issues. Did play with the Lumix GX7 the other day. It does better at high ISO's than the GH3. Will definetly be added a GX7 to my arsenal. LInk to a slide done with the GH3 yesterday.
