I think with the CFexpress card and many raw format in including it seems REdcode, it is no more a youtube camera, which I also thought before with the SD/MicroSd card rumor's. If they do what Panasonic did with the same sensor as the S1ii, we could get a very good camera. I sincerely hope did the later, as it would 1 to 1.5 stop of exposure latitude than for example the Canon C50.

I think the 2600 is the body only price. Because he says "keep in mind that this range also includes some lens kit options".

This is always one if not the best camera review. The camera itself looks a very very good product except for the Stabilization. Another thing is the latitude test, which is for me the true to life DR test. And it is definitely not a DGO sensor and Canon is lying again about the 15 stops of DR(Not same test values). In the latitude test it scores about 7.5 to 8 stops of exposure latitude. Which is ok to good. For example the Panasonic S1ii in normal mode, does about 9 stops and the Arri Alexa LF 10 stops of exposure latitude.

They can do both, or so I thought. I mean, I thought this camera would be the RED camera for Nikon users. That is the lower end of the Cinema cameras (FX3) that would fit in the budget and size for Nikon enthusiast and pros. And then as Sony, they could have a RED Komodo based on the Sony FX6 body style and specs etc. for more pro video level. They are 4.8 billions turnover company vs RED 160 millions. So they just need RED to be some kind of Brand for them as a serious video brands and don't even need RED to be profitable. With the new Raptor X global shutter, RED is scoring some of the biggest movies in Hollywood, like the latest Superman and Tron.

Yes, it seems that Nikon has really decided to go entry level camera. I don't even know the market they are aiming at, because the z6iii or even Z5ii might have better internal video specs than the ZR because of the rumored SD/MicroSd cards in the Zr. Unless they are selling lower than 2000 USD, I can't see it selling that much. Nikon users like me already have better specked camera than what we know now about the Zr. And I can't see vloggers/content creators putting more than 2k in a camera.

I don't know, but REDcode uses RED processors, I remember the guy from RED saying how the Nikon one, that is the Xpeed, was super efficient.

Canon Rumors put these as his spec, I think he changed it form before as he state he did put some bad spec before. Canon Cinema EOS C50 Basic Specifications 7K 60P Internal RAW 4K 120P (No Crop) Open Gate 32.3MP Still Photo Resolution 40FPS Max Burst Rate Dual CFexpress Type B Card Slots Single SD Card Slot Dual Pixel CMOS AF II Dual Base ISO Sub $4000 USD (Rough Currency Conversion)

Its not about selling more, it is about installing Nikon as a viable video/cinema brand to every potential buyers from the Nikon z30 to the Z9. The message will be, here you have a camera that for 3-4000 USD, uses the same tech as the V-Raptor, that was used in the 200 millions latest Superman and Tron Hollywood blockbusters. For this reason, they can't make a toy of a camera. They have to show a good to great camera, to showcase their new status and ambition. With an FX3 style body and price range, it is perfect for the Nikon users who are not used to buy 7000 to 30 000 USD cameras. A 3 to 4 000 camera, is still within the means of many Nikon professionals, that can add it to expand their market to video, or even some RED users, that want a second body, or a director that uses rented Raptors for features, but could buy this for personal use and scouting etc. I expect them to come out with a future FX6 style camera as the next Komodo and mirror the Sony lineup, which has become very very successful.

It has been rumored some months ago that Nikon is working on a new Log format. It seems the RED guy who is doing most of this, like the new view assist and the RED luts for Nikon LOG. My guess is that we will get at least a version of Redraw and their log format, as the name of the camera itself makes reference to RED in the R.
-
Nope, it is the same, as it was from the same leak. It has been discused a lot in the Canon C50 thread. At first they thought it was perhaps the C50, then it shifted to the Zr or perhaps DJI full frame camera. Because it was using a PL to L mount adapter. No Canon or Nikon would use a Lmount adapter.

The more I think about this, the more I think it is a confusion between the release two days ago of the Silver ZF and that ZR cameras. No one predicted the Silver ZF and it is the only camera in the Nikon lineup that has a combination of SD and Micro SD card. It is too much coincidence, they must have mixed from their source. The likes of "Hey Nikon has a next camera with have SD and Micro SD, and it was the Silver ZF". For those that don't know the Nikon lineup. The Nikon Zf is a retro style FF photo camera that was in black only. And Nikon just this week, released a Silver version out of nowhere.
-
It started with XQD, with full implication that they would transit asap to CFexpress when they would be released. I mean all the 3 z6, z9, z8, and even the D6 dSLR.
-
They also have a tradition of CFexpress card. Their z6 camera came out only with one Cfexpress card, and they did get a lot of backlash because of it, as it was quite rare at the time. With the release of the z62, just like 2 years after the z6 with a cfexpress card and a SD card slot.

This is why I think it is targeting the FX3 type market. That is a small form factor camera from RED!!! I mean Nikon, that will compete for the small form factor Video/Cine market for 3 to 4 thousands USD. My guess it will give you all the video/cine tools that are not necessarily present in Nikon Z cameras, at least for now. I can't see this camera, not coming out with Lut Support and false colors for example. I see Nikon marketing it as Mini red, with red color Science etc, to event/documentary/wedding filmmakers. Or to even Nikon shooters that might want one of their bodies with more video centric tools.
-
The Nikon Z30 is the same form factor of a Fx3. It is more or less, a brick with a lens mount and a fully articulating screen.
-
Latest rumor's Brick-shaped, video-oriented design, without pentaprism and EVF – a combination of the current RED models design, the Sony FX3, and the Nikon Z30 Many features and tech from RED will be incorporated inside Z6 III sensor (24MP) Very large LCD screen 6K (intra-frame compression) Image stabilization 1 SD and 1 microSD card slots Announcement: September 10th Second time I see that it has a SD and MicroSD card!!! The only reason, I would think that they would use a micro SD, is for a backup lower bitrate recording on a second card. This has been one of the gripe people have been having with Nikon. But even the SD card is puzzling for me. Is their SD cards fast enough for ALL-intra codec, and my guess it will implement REDraw. For a company that has used so much CFexpress card, I am a bit astonished.
-
Why do you think an R5ii would be more at risk, when they cater for completely different market. The R5ii gives you a premium photo camera experience, while this one would be more for videographers that might occasionally shoot some photos.

Then in 3 years, your battery are not working, or your lens is not working because they didn't update their software. I have my beef with Japanese companies, but at least in my case, the product I was buying was not completely obsolete after 3 years.
-
I am no Chinese hater, but I prefer China hegemony stop their. They already dominate in some tech like drone and you can't have anything that is, sorry to say, in one way the worst junk you can have, and it is product obsolescence. DJI completely bought the American (I am not American) influencer people to chant their laurels, while consumers like me can't find a battery two years, because most of what I bought was swelling, after having invested 1500-2500 USD. Or even some propellers, when my 10 year old battery in my Nikon camera is still working.
-
They have announced film grain by the end of this year, in their picture profile as they just launched the silver version of the Nikon Zf.
-
Yep, seems that it is not a Canon or Nikon, apart from the Viltrox, I don't think Canon or Nikon would showcase their camera with a third party lens, and not a full autofocus Canikon lens.
-
I don't think so, if your image is lets say out of focus you are not going to get moire. OLPF filters are basically filters that blurs the image just a little bit so as to remove the risk of moire.
-
Ok, I thought that softer images, tend to decrease moire because it lowers frequencies.
-
I mean the aim is not to use those 4-5 last stops and put them back at the base exposure, but it tells you that a 3 stop underexposure is still good, meaning your noise floor would still be much better than a camera that would be stuck at 2. Somebody else who likes to do technical test on Nikon cameras has an interesting test between the two, because he was intrigued how could the z6iii that was so criticized for the DR, while the S1ii got so much praise while using the same sensor. For me without the DR boost, the S1ii is still reaching 9 vs about 7 stops of latitude in the case of the Z6iii. The only difference for me is the 9 vs 12 ms for the sensor readout. And I hope Nikon give us, at least the S1ii DR. I already se a z9 which has 14ms sensor readout, so 12 ms is good for me. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4812023 link to the comparison

I have personally stopped looking at the DR test from imatest and charts in general including CineD, but only at the Latitude test. Since some companies starting with Canon, started baking Noise reduction in their RAW, it just tricked the system. I prefer by far the latitude test, as it is just real life one. You can clearly see, how much you can get back from over exposure and underexposure. Unfortunately CineD doesn't have a full test of the z6iii, but I have seen other test online and it was like 3 above and 4 below. So you are getting around 7-7.5 at best stops of latitude, which within a lot of FF cameras which mostly were between 7 and 8 stops of exposure latitude. But looking at the S1ii, the exposure latitude is at 5 above and 4 below in the normal mode!!! Already 9 stops of Exp Lat, which puts it very high, at a Red Raptor level of Latitude!!! And when you go in the DR boost mode, you reach a solid 10 stop of latitude, which is as good as the Arri Alexa LF !!!! https://www.cined.com/panasonic-lumix-s1ii-lab-test-part-2-dynamic-range-and-latitude-using-prores-raw-5-8k-with-dr-boost-on/ but now the rolling shutter is at 27ms. One important thing to take into consideration is that in normal mode the S1ii sensor is at 12 Ms, and the z6iii at 9Ms. It seems Nikon went for speed, which tends to create more heat and noise. Now, for me, I hope Nikon give us choices. I prefer two additional stops of DR and a sensor read speed of 12 ms with 10 stops, than 9 ms and 7 stops. If they can give me both, great. If they can even give the 27ms 10 stops of latitude mode, even better. I prefer choice, where I can make my own decisions. I don't know if it is me, it is as if Nikon didn't get out the full potential from this chip, and Pana got more time and did their own teaks. Sincerely, if they only did the normal mode at 12 ms and got 9 stop of latitude in the z6iii, rather than all the criticism they got from z6iii DR, the camera would have got a ton of praise.
