Man, by his and your standard the Arri Alexa, Red Raptor and more importantly Film cameras are not cine cameras. On big set I have worked (Netflix) I was more of a set photographer, and if you had to see the level of complexity to set up those cameras, you would not believe how hard it is. You normally have two to 3 people on each cameras. For example I see many people saying this camera is not a cine camera because it records on one card . Guess what, even the most advanced RaptorX used in latest Hollywood Block busters Superman and Tron, u se only one card. And lets not even talk about Film cameras.

I think half of the people here, think football is that sport played 99% with the hands LOL

I think Megadap wil be the worst nightmare of Sony. They are so fed-up waiting for some true update like an FX3ii, and they felt insulted by the FX2, which is a nighmare. Now even if the make an FX3ii they will sell it for twice the ZR, or lets say 1.5x, and who will buy the Fx2 nowadays, a camera 500USD pricier than the ZR.

I would beg Nikon yo do a liter version of the REDraw. Many will soon discover, that they can't shoot in it because it is too heavy, and literally not use the camera for what they bought it for. It is easy from some of the youtubers to film an hour of content to show in their 10 20 minute review. But it is not the same when you are filming for 1 2 hours on a five day project. I don't know REDraw size, but from some people who have used it, the datarate on the ZR is very high.

People here would have dreamed about this camera just two years ago. People were crying for 10 bit and log like 5 years ago, and some people filmed movies with the Gh2 or Canon 5D. I am not saying this camera doesn't have flaws. But saying this is a camera for content creation when you have multiple Raw formats, and one color science that was only available to cameras costing 7k, but more precisely 10 k when you add the accessories in the apsc red komodo, and about 15-20k in full frame. In fact you can film a movie with this. I am sad it did not happen 10-20 years ago, or I was not 10-20 years younger, thinking about this I prefer the later... Oh shit, looking how the world is going, I prefer the former. LOL

The guy problem is that it is written cinema on this. So either you can film a hollywood movie with it, or it is shit. Someone should give him a film camera to see how many functionality their is, and hold and behold perhaps he might see something call grain. I mean I have been using Nikon since the z6, a Nikon files have been extremely robust. I got my Z9 3.5 years ago. At first I didn't even touch the 10 bit h265. Then I just used it just like that for some personal things, and nowadays I only use the RAW format when I want the absolute best. He just look at 400% at the files, he knows nothing about grading etc.

My guess, they didn't want to kill their RED brand. It would also have cost minimum, 5000+ USD to 10 000 USD, and not many Nikon shooters could have afforded this. I would have liked a bit better spec even with a more costly body. But in the end, this will be found in a lot of Nikon shooter camera bag, as a secondary or third body for professional. And it would become their primary body for video. For photographers, 5000 USD is already flagship level camera bodies. This is also the ultimate content creator camera, people might not care or even despise it, but it is a big market. Nikon has loss so much market share, and more importantly in the younger demographic, that it might revive a new generation of shooters for the company. It is a bit of a jack of all trade, from someone who would just pick the camera and either film himself or do some content filming some dancers or skaters. To someone rigging it and going to shoot a doc or a short film.

Where did you get these. In the gerald Undone test, the DR imatest test, it around the 12.5, which is about the good/middle ground.
-
Yep, Nikon sells like 700 000 cameras, and my guess RED only a few thousands at best. The economies of scale are enormous when you think the Expeed 7 processor is used in nearly all their models.

Man, his review was a bit of a preview with very little detail. No hating because he had very little time, but comparing images in full sunny day and cloudy day is not very conclusive. For example, we know that they have a new hotshoe that seems to have an audio link.
-
More or less, that's it. Perhaps also, to be able to shoot Open Gate.
-
They just don't want to alienate their customers. The people or rental companies that bought 30 000 to 40 000 USD camera and system, will be pissed if their investment is gone in days. They are already offering Canon to Nikon Z mount swapping, and my guess it will take at least 5 years or a total change.

I think with the CFexpress card and many raw format in including it seems REdcode, it is no more a youtube camera, which I also thought before with the SD/MicroSd card rumor's. If they do what Panasonic did with the same sensor as the S1ii, we could get a very good camera. I sincerely hope did the later, as it would 1 to 1.5 stop of exposure latitude than for example the Canon C50.
-
I think the 2600 is the body only price. Because he says "keep in mind that this range also includes some lens kit options".
-
This is always one if not the best camera review. The camera itself looks a very very good product except for the Stabilization. Another thing is the latitude test, which is for me the true to life DR test. And it is definitely not a DGO sensor and Canon is lying again about the 15 stops of DR(Not same test values). In the latitude test it scores about 7.5 to 8 stops of exposure latitude. Which is ok to good. For example the Panasonic S1ii in normal mode, does about 9 stops and the Arri Alexa LF 10 stops of exposure latitude.

They can do both, or so I thought. I mean, I thought this camera would be the RED camera for Nikon users. That is the lower end of the Cinema cameras (FX3) that would fit in the budget and size for Nikon enthusiast and pros. And then as Sony, they could have a RED Komodo based on the Sony FX6 body style and specs etc. for more pro video level. They are 4.8 billions turnover company vs RED 160 millions. So they just need RED to be some kind of Brand for them as a serious video brands and don't even need RED to be profitable. With the new Raptor X global shutter, RED is scoring some of the biggest movies in Hollywood, like the latest Superman and Tron.

Yes, it seems that Nikon has really decided to go entry level camera. I don't even know the market they are aiming at, because the z6iii or even Z5ii might have better internal video specs than the ZR because of the rumored SD/MicroSd cards in the Zr. Unless they are selling lower than 2000 USD, I can't see it selling that much. Nikon users like me already have better specked camera than what we know now about the Zr. And I can't see vloggers/content creators putting more than 2k in a camera.
-
I don't know, but REDcode uses RED processors, I remember the guy from RED saying how the Nikon one, that is the Xpeed, was super efficient.
-
Canon Rumors put these as his spec, I think he changed it form before as he state he did put some bad spec before. Canon Cinema EOS C50 Basic Specifications 7K 60P Internal RAW 4K 120P (No Crop) Open Gate 32.3MP Still Photo Resolution 40FPS Max Burst Rate Dual CFexpress Type B Card Slots Single SD Card Slot Dual Pixel CMOS AF II Dual Base ISO Sub $4000 USD (Rough Currency Conversion)

Its not about selling more, it is about installing Nikon as a viable video/cinema brand to every potential buyers from the Nikon z30 to the Z9. The message will be, here you have a camera that for 3-4000 USD, uses the same tech as the V-Raptor, that was used in the 200 millions latest Superman and Tron Hollywood blockbusters. For this reason, they can't make a toy of a camera. They have to show a good to great camera, to showcase their new status and ambition. With an FX3 style body and price range, it is perfect for the Nikon users who are not used to buy 7000 to 30 000 USD cameras. A 3 to 4 000 camera, is still within the means of many Nikon professionals, that can add it to expand their market to video, or even some RED users, that want a second body, or a director that uses rented Raptors for features, but could buy this for personal use and scouting etc. I expect them to come out with a future FX6 style camera as the next Komodo and mirror the Sony lineup, which has become very very successful.

It has been rumored some months ago that Nikon is working on a new Log format. It seems the RED guy who is doing most of this, like the new view assist and the RED luts for Nikon LOG. My guess is that we will get at least a version of Redraw and their log format, as the name of the camera itself makes reference to RED in the R.
-
Nope, it is the same, as it was from the same leak. It has been discused a lot in the Canon C50 thread. At first they thought it was perhaps the C50, then it shifted to the Zr or perhaps DJI full frame camera. Because it was using a PL to L mount adapter. No Canon or Nikon would use a Lmount adapter.

The more I think about this, the more I think it is a confusion between the release two days ago of the Silver ZF and that ZR cameras. No one predicted the Silver ZF and it is the only camera in the Nikon lineup that has a combination of SD and Micro SD card. It is too much coincidence, they must have mixed from their source. The likes of "Hey Nikon has a next camera with have SD and Micro SD, and it was the Silver ZF". For those that don't know the Nikon lineup. The Nikon Zf is a retro style FF photo camera that was in black only. And Nikon just this week, released a Silver version out of nowhere.
-
It started with XQD, with full implication that they would transit asap to CFexpress when they would be released. I mean all the 3 z6, z9, z8, and even the D6 dSLR.
-
They also have a tradition of CFexpress card. Their z6 camera came out only with one Cfexpress card, and they did get a lot of backlash because of it, as it was quite rare at the time. With the release of the z62, just like 2 years after the z6 with a cfexpress card and a SD card slot.
