  1. exactly - Sigma do make some amazing lenses they could re house into propper cine lenses , the 30mm f1.4 Sigma is a stunning lens I do have a soft spot for it , especially on a metabones speedbooster - But I do use it at f2 alot
  2. talking of great cine zooms - I have been having talks with Tokina's distributors about the Tokina CINEMA ATX 50-135mm T3 cine zoom they make . http://www.tokinacinema.com/50-135mmT3.html this looks great as I'm a big fan of long lenses , Imagine this paired with Metbones XL making a T2/f1.8 zoom , I'm going to see if I can borrow one to test.

the trick with the Zeiss C/Y lenses is buy the f2.8 lenses put them on your Metabones speedbooster and they are f2 - and hugely cheaper than just buying an f2 version ....save your self alot of money ! the speedbooster makes them sharper too!!..... bingo!! my set is 25mm 28mm 35mm 45mm 50mm 85mm 135mm all f2.8 except the 50mm which is the 50mm f1.7 Planar
  5. I like the idea of this hypothetical GH5 camera Andrew , its almost a mini Arri Alexa challenger in a tiny body , we might get parts of this eventually from Panasonic , it would be amazing all in one go , as you know I am a loyal Panasonic user I dont use any other cameras - I love what Panasonic do , getting them to switch to a super 35mm senor will be radical !! I'm sure there is a GH5 in the pipeline , they just are not ready to announce it yet ! Fingers crossed its another big step forward !
  6. I'm talking with Panasonic UK about cameras for the movie I'm working on right now and Panasonic have denied there is a Gh5; when I asked them about the possible spec of this camera , they said the Gh5 does not exist .......

Yes cheap glass in these adaptors is not worth using ,

There is no c/y to Nikon adaptor as the Nikon flange focal distance prohibits that ever being done , you can't really adapt much to a Nikon mount due to its longer flange focal distance .

I use the Carl Zeiss tessar 45 mm f2.8 with a contax yashica to canon EF metal adaptor ring then I mount it on my metabones xl speed booster its a great little tiny lens with a lot of character I like it a lot , the metabones does sharpen it up too as the tessar is not as sharp as the distagons and planars in the Zeiss c/y range Metabones is the best speedbooster no contest , I have almost all the others and metabones beats them all , tbe zhyongi lens turbo is the next best then the RJ in my book ! Stick with metabones if you are on a 4k panny the metabones xl is essential as it gives you a super 35mm field of view it gets rid of their x2.3 crop

If you are on a budget sand want a superb cinema quality constant appperture zoom that is just as good optically as the tokina/angenieux then get the canon FD 35-70 f4 and put it on a canon FD speedbooster that makes it f2.8 and even sharper ......this lens is optically amazing its small light internal zoom and about £30 on eBay .......everyone should have one !!

Version1 is the angenieux design licensed by tokina that's the best one to get

just go for the version 1 and 2 avoid the rest - simple! and make sure you by Nikon mont as it has apperture control , dont buy a conon mount !! no apperture

this is the Version 2 it has bayonet lips on the front for the lens hood - this version was tweeked slightly by Tokina from the original angenieux design - different coatings etc - I also have this lens and I cannot tell and differance optically from the version 1 with is 100% ANGENIEUX DESIGN THIS IS THE LATER VERSION TWEEKED BY TOKINA , also to confuse the issue there are some Japanese home market lenses that are just marked 2.8 that are the Angenieux design ......good luck ! and one that looks like this but as SV on the front that has no aspheric elements in it ps your link to the Ken Rockwell site is a link to a totally different lens it was designed by Tokina BEFORE they aquired the Angenieux design and is best avoided

the Tokina AT-X PRO 28-70 2.6-2.8 VERSION 1 is the Angenieux design it has a screw on lens hood not a boyonet lens hood the Version 2 has , I have a couple of the Verion 1 lenses and they are great , fully wide open at 2.6 they have a unique look to them , very very cinematic

yes it does the cable ties are quick release ties that unlock and the camera is on a manfrotto quick release plate so the whole system coems off the rig easily
  21. The 28-70 and 80-200 Nikon's are better lenses optically then the newer 24-70 and 70-200 much less distortion and sharper too and the older lenses have aperture rings too , the new ones don't they are fly by wire lenses ....newer is not necessarily better in this case .....for me the Nikon 80-200 2.8 is Nikon's finest hour . their best lens in my book
  22. exactly , a set of matched lenses is essesntial for glass parity - thats why I champion the Nikons so much - the 20-35mm 28-70mm and 80-200mm all match and cut together very nicely

Try the Nikon ai 25-50 f4

The Nikon ai and ais zooms in this range are great too all f3.5 or f4 and when on a speed booster are supertb they ate a alot cheaper than the 2.8 Nikon zooms
