  1. Also, http://www.ken-lab.com/media-gallery/videos-youtube-vimeo
  2. Maybe try to find a cheap gyro? http://blog.planet5d.com/2013/03/shooting-from-a-moving-car-with-the-new-kenyon-x-series-3-axis-gyros/
  3. I haven't done any in depth tests, but so far my Panasonic 14-140mm seems to hunt more on my GH4 than on my GH3 in video mode. Griffin Hammond has also made this observation with his Panasonic 12-35mm. He is the only other person I know of that's mentioned it as well. Maybe I just need to play with some settings to see if it helps speed things up.
  4. Is anyone else experiencing slower autofocus on their GH4 than on their GH3?
  5. Very interesting. Thanks for the post! IPB compression for the win!
  6. *UPDATE* So I figured out that Quicktime is only averaging the bit rate. When you play the clips in VLC and view the statistics while it plays, there are peaks that get closer to the 100Mbps mark.
  7. I'm shooting Cinelike D and used a variable ND filter to shoot at F8 on my Panasonic 14-140mm lens. I also included camera shake in all the shots and it's still not budging off of 80Mbps. Are you getting 100Mbps on your GH4?
  8. Just tried. It didn't work. Still right at 80Mbps.
  9. Yes, I have. The highest bit rate I've gotten for that setting is just over 170Mbps. I really wish they were all constant bit rates instead of variable.....
  10. I also turned the noise reduction all the way down to - 5, so there wouldn't be any smoothing of the image.
  11. Thanks for the comments guys. Yeah, that's what I meant by "maxes out" because I did a stress test. It was particularly windy a couple of days ago and I found a tree with small leaves that were all blowing in the wind. I shot the tree handheld and also shot wide. Unfortunately, when I reviewed the clip on my computer at 100% there was most definitely a break down in the image quality with a noticeable amount of micro-blocking. Like I said above, the bit rate still only reached 80mbps, which is unfortunate because it was still micro-blocking. I feel like 20mbps is a lot to throw away considering that several consumer HD video cameras shoot around 20mbps. I'm really not sure what I can do to get that 20mbps back. It's also worth mentioning that I'm shooting at 30fps, so you guys might not see as much micro-blocking with a lower frame rate.
  12. Hey guys, So I've noticed that 4K video on the GH4 isn't actually recording at 100mbps (like stated in the specs), but rather maxes out at 80mbps. I'm using a Sandisk 95mb/s 64gb card and I'm wondering if I have to upgrade to the U3 cards everyone is talking about to get that extra 20mbps. Has anyone else run into this issue? Is anyone getting the full 100mbps with their U3 cards?
  13. Rumor has it that Metabones is working on an EF speedbooster specifically built for the GH4. It makes sense to me that they would considering the tremendous success of this camera so far. I'll wait it out a little bit longer.
  14. "In electronic shutter mode for stills, the GH4 can silently shoot 16MP raw shots which is great – but of course these also use a rolling shutter so are prone to the related artefacts like skew." Is this mode better than the GH3 though? I was hoping it would be considering they are both shooting from the same-ish 16 megapixel sensor, only the GH4 uses the 50% faster readout.
  15. Been waiting for this review ever since the GH4 was announced. Well done! I threw some money your way out of appreciation. One question though... There's been talk about Panasonic adding 200mbps All-I to the 4096 x 2160 Cinema 4K DCI mode. Have you heard anything about this?
  16. Anyone have an opinion on the best GH3 cage with a hdmi clamp? I'm concerned about that tiny micro hdmi connection.
  17. Excellent review as always. Confirmed what I was expecting. For my personal stuff, I'm much more interested in the GH4. Much better functionality in my opinion. Do you expect to review the GH4 soon? Also, you should consider having a tip jar. I would definitely throw some money your way. These reviews are extremely helpful.
  18. Hey guys, I'm selling my SLR Magic 25mm T0.95 HyperPrime CINE Micro 4/3 Lens, if anyone is interested. There is also an official SLR Magic 77mm step-up ring included. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLR-Magic-25mm-T0-95-HyperPrime-CINE-Micro-4-3-Lens-w-77mm-Step-Up-Hood-Ring-Ad-/281261394159?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item417c7c48ef
  19. As always, best camera break down out there. No contest. Thanks for your dedication to details! With that being said, I really really hope that the 4K 100mbps IPB codec holds up well. Artifacts are my worse enemy! There's no point in shooting wide beautiful 4K vistas if compression steals the show. I will be tensely awaiting your final review.
  20. Hey Andrew, Amazing set of lenses. I'm jealous! With that being said, how stupid is it that people are willing to pay that much more for the T2.0 version? Seriously, don't you think sensor sensitivity will soon diminish the demand for faster lenses at a crazy premium? I'd rather have a really solid wide open lens at T2.8 (like these Cooke Panchro's) and update my camera body every year. We all seem to know that cameras gain a full stop better ISO performance with each new model, but everyone is still hung up on paying the highest price for the fastest lenses possible. Seems rather silly to me.
