  1. Hey guys,   Selling my GH2 with lots of accessories.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/141061419613?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649   If requested, I can install any hack prior to selling. Condition is excellent. I'm only selling it because I need the money.
  2. Got a response back!   "Small amount of movement is normal.  When the lens is very very smooth, there is the most movement that you are talking about.  When there is no movement, the lens would be so hard to turn that you need a very strong tripod mount to ensure no camera movement while focusing.  Something in between, not too loose and not too tight, is what we try to achieve.   If you wish, we can exchange another lens for you, but we cannot guarantee that the exchange lens would be looser or the same or tighter than the lens you have now.  Usually, if image does not jump up and down while changing direction of focus, we consider that normal."   My image doesn't jump up and down. So I'm not sending it back.   -Ben
  3. Yeah that's what I mean. There is a bit of delay in the focus ring, not nearly as tight as the aperture ring. But honestly, what am I to expect out of a lens I got for $700 bucks you know? Anyway, I e-mailed Andrew Chan. I will let you know what I hear back.    -Ben
  4. Just got my SLR Magic 25mm T/0.95 and I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with focus play on the focus ring? I mounted my 77mm Heliopan variable ND filter to the front of the lens and it seems that there is a good amount of focus play with the added weight to the front of the lens.
  5. All I would need is about 5-10 seconds of footage at 30fps, and then I would be sold. Heck, I would even be sold if this was possible with full res jpegs...
  6. Yes, both are the GH3. The only difference is that the second video has zeroed out settings whereas the first one everything is set to -5. I might just have to end up leaving the sharpness setting at zero.   Yeah I still feel like it's sharper on the 7D, but not by much. It's not as sharp as when I use my L series 50mm wide open at f1.2 though,  maybe I'm just spoiled with that lens : )
  7. Here is another video transitioning between T1.5 and T2.0 on the Standard setting, but with everything set to 0 instead of -5.   https://vimeo.com/60962773
  8. Also note that this is wide open at T1.5
  9. Hey Everyone,   Thanks for all the responses. Here is what I captured...    https://vimeo.com/60960655   All the settings are set to -5 in the Standard setting. I expected it to be soft, but not this soft.
  10. So I got a new adapter, but the results are pretty much the same. Has anyone else been having this issue with the Rokinon 35mm Cine lens on a GH3?
  11. In my test results, the GH3 shows much less compression artifacts in IPB 50Mbps mode, than in ALL-I 72Mbps mode.   Also confirmed by the great cbrandin himself...   "I would expect that the 50Mb long GOP video should look very good on the GH3 - at least as good as GOP12 at 66Mb on the GH2 - probably even better. The 72Mb all I frame video probably won't look very good. At 72Mb GOP1 streams will have small I frames - about 375 kilobytes each. Even at 24Mb a GOP12 stream can have I frames up to around 1 megabyte. I frame size pretty much limits image quality, and 375 kilobytes just isn't enough. In order to maintain reasonable individual frame quality, Nick Driftwood had to push data rates to over 150Mb for some of his all I frame (GOP1) settings." -cbrandin
  12.   I will try to post some footage. Any suggestions on a cheap adapter?     Exactly my thoughts. It really seems like the light it getting bounced around in some way. It almost has the same look as the Voigtlander 25mm F0.95 wide open, but to the extreme.
  13. Hi everyone,   I just bought a Rokinon 35mm Cine lens for my GH3 because of how sharp everyone says it is wide open. To my utter disappointment, I found this not to be true at all. It is completely soft and unusable wide open. I am using a Kipon adapter with built in aperture blades (not that I used them) listed here:   http://www.amazon.com/Kipon-EOS-m4-Adapter-Aperture-Control/dp/B004XGFIZY   Do you think that it has something to do with the adapter? I didn't have an issue when I used this lens on my Canon 7D. Any suggestions?   -Ben
  14.   Yeah, it's definitely on the pricey side. Let's not forget you have ETC mode to work with as well. Unfortunately though, I've heard that the rolling shutter is massively exaggerated on the GH3 in ETC mode.
  15.   I would love to see that article if you could find it. I can't seem to find anything.
  16. Because of this issue? Can you be more specific?
  17. Hi powderbanks,   Thanks for replying.   What I've read is that Panasonic lenses have issues because they are close to 100% electronically controlled lenses with very little mechanics inside. Because of this, the lens is constantly talking to the camera even when the camera is set to full manual control. Consequently, when you zoom through the range of the lens, the aperture electronically compensates with the movement of the optics to maintain a 2.8 aperture. Unfortunately for us, that electronically controlled aperture compensation is not a smooth transition at all, at least on the GH2 as seen below.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2vjROGkgUA   So what I'm hoping is that maybe the GH3 has a better way of communicating with the lens when zooming. It would be nice to have a constant aperture lens without awful and abrupt changes in exposure.
  18. Hello All.   So I recently bought a GH3 and I am now considering getting Panasonic's new 12-35mm lens. One of the developing topics about this lens, which seems to be making it's way into forums everywhere, is that the aperture "jumps" or stutters through the zoom range resulting in abrupt exposure changes. So I have to ask, is this something anyone's experiencing when using it with the GH3? Or is it only an issue when using it with a GH2?
  19. Did anyone mention a release date yet?
  20. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but does ALL-I translate as no more micro blocking?
  21. So I am shooting in HBR mode on my GH2 and I read that I needed to download ClipWrap in order to get around the interlaced wrapper in this mode. I went ahead and compared a clip exported from ClipWrap (free trial version) to the same clip imported through Final Cut Pro with the field dominance settings set to "none" and I can't see a difference between the two. Can someone shed some light on why I should spend $50 bucks for ClipWrap instead of just setting the field dominance settings to "none" in Final Cut Pro? Thanks! -Ben
  22. Still though, I will try another card just to make sure. Thanks.
  23. No I wouldn't think so. I got the card straight from bhphoto. On top of that, I've been reading on personal-view.com that they are having a heap of trouble getting the NTSC HBR mode (30p) working with a higher bit rate hack. So far, the "Sanity" hack is the only one that seems to be working in HBR mode, but it's interlaced? It's all just frustrating to me, because was under the impression I could shoot 30p with either the Unified or Vanilla patch (as it is seemingly advertises). The 24p looks glorious, but I need 30p for the work I am doing.
