tony wilson got a reaction from richg101 in new redstan close up achromatic diopter
ever wondered what leica or cooke taylor hobson could do if they made something like the tokina achromatic diopter.

well in about 3 weeks i should have the finest close up ever.
82mm doublet +0.25 classic single coated optics using ohara and schott germany glass.
way superior than the tokina +0.4 optimised for 5d size sensor using iscorama, cooke speed panchro and leica r as the set up.
this close up will be a fine match for the finest most expensive high end new or old optics.

anyone who thinks these new generation anamorphics from letus and slr magic will not need a double element close optics is clearly not very sharp : )
a simple test on those 2 new china lens shot at f1.8 or even f2.8  with an achromatic doublet and without should make things clear.
these new anamorphics are single element  optics just like the century and the panasonic optics.
maybe revised and improved  but still single element..
sometin got a give somewhere in the system.

as we all understand stopping optics down to f4-5.6 clears up the image and makes even poor optics look sweet.
achromatic correction is kind of cool and if you like the new anamorphic lens concepts coming sticking a decent bit of double element glass in front of bad single element can only help A
3 cheers for Chester Moore Hall the man that came up with the concept of bending light ray achromatic correction.

I'm mister complainer because this forum has become plagued by people like you, who pretend to be ignorant, then bang! - he wants to sell it.  Then he's gone.  Your purpose here was to gather information about something you are trying to sell under false pretences.  2 days research?  2mins is enough to tell you how much the thing is worth.  You came on here to sell it.

I don't personally lose anything from your actions.  I imagine your plans to list it for a high price will go on to increase the value of my own iscorama.  What I, and many others here are sick of is new leaches coming out of the woodwork, sucking all the good from this place.

I feel I contribute positively to this forum.  You on the other hand have brought nothing.  so in this context you are the arse hole.

He who wants to profit, should first take the time and effort to learn.  So far you have struck upon a lucky find,  taken information from regulars here - who have learned (often the hard and expensive way).  You've then contacted a professional who took time out of his day to reply to you.   Redstan shared a link to his mounting system in your other topic.  Jesus, just buy his mount.

Now you're selling the thing without even considering trying it,  can't be bothered/don't have the knowledge  to take the time in shooting sample footage to be included in your sale and have brought nothing positive to the forum.    Just sell the thing on ebay and stop cluttering up a once incredible, now ruined anamorphic forum resource.

well i am not doing requests : )
that is the way to madness i am already bankrupt and mental enough.
i am not trying to achieve anything as i have a working item i think it is ok not for 5d size sensor and it is not an iscorama replacement.
but it should best the slr magic thing : )
    i think?
unless they upgrade the mark 3 prototype to 4.

tony wilson got a reaction from roccoforte in What is so special about an iscorama??
it is worth good money if in great optical and physical condition.
if you are un sure about condition get a service from bernie o at 16.9 it will keep the value high as he is a motion picture camera and lens service tech.
that looks like it is from late 60s early 70s nice vintage something this old should have the a helicoid clean and regrease and alignment check.
the iscorama 54 was 1400 german dm in the late 80s used mainly by super 8 shooters the cameras cost 200-300 so that gives you an idea of it's high cost.the best camera at the time was the leicina special at 500 dm so big bucks for a lens only used sometimes.
the advantage of iscorama is the original 1958 design covered 35mm format as it was design for stills cameras so edge to edge performance is simply superb for the time even today stick that on the movie camera that shot the last bond movie and it will out resolve the sensor.
do not take it apart or mess with it to much a lot of iscorama have issues. do not give it to a mate or a local repair guy that would be lunatic.
the smaller and more advanced movie cameras get the more this type of lens will be sort after.

Actually they are just doing market research. SLR don't want to do anybody a favour - they are only interested in selling their stuff like Zacuto and all the others too!
And for the price of one SLR-Adapter I bought two tiny Möllers and my NonMC Isco 54 which I bought just two or three months ago wasn't more expensive either. And it goes on and on: There are a couple  of Bolex Möllers around right now for less. I saw a 36 for € 250 (Paypal - no SCAM!). (I know of the disadvantages of the Möllers)

Not long ago many people here on the forum were discussing character or the lack of it especially on the Isco 36.
Now the new kids on the block are hyped and everything is about flare and bokeh... but where has the demand for character gone?
As usual Andrew did a great job but to my eyes it could have also been cropped. There is nothing special about the image.
But I am not an expert or pro - just a way to waste time and money but I know a couple of pros and they even don't know Iscoramas.

SLR magic are gonna have to trawl through a page of your ranting for every page of public opinion on what people want from their product.

Just because I don't feel the need to post 1000 word jerk off doesn't make the content any less valid mate.

And I'm not really too late to the party, I already own a 36 so I'm not planning on buying a toy version any time soon :)
