these are really great...smaller than the mighty hypergonar very lovely classic look.
price is good if all working well.
the magic is in the glass.
you will not ge a better anamorphic look for your money.
-
if you got it off ebay send it back..
plenty of pass the dodgy optics going on..
relisting dodgy stuff at profit.
that is impact separation
someone has put that optic under stress.
did you pay top whack for it or get it cheap
even bad iscorama go for good money

never seen one before.pretty rough shape.damp corrosion.
maybe mid late 70s probably made by a rental company with a nice sharp canon lens.
maybe a custom anamorphic wide head by lomo.
clunky focus plenty distortion plenty cash to sort out issues worth no more than 2000 dollars based on the renovation cost.
more distortion than in this clip.
wide shots in this done with jdc 24mm proper rebuild
very poor youtube clip

Thanks guys, I'll check them out. Its hard to jump on it right now because Ive jumped ship and preordered the Black Magic Pocket camera which has at least peaking for focus. Maybe after I get it I'll look into these options for the desqueezed monitoring. THe evfs/monitors look awesome. Im using the hyperdeck for hdmi recording but man is that thing heavy with the plate on the bottom.
rob you are a laugh a minute a riot :)
would you mind if i quote you again?
Ive jumped ship and preordered the Black Magic Pocket camera...

one of the main problems well not really a problem but one of the things with the different iscorama systems.
nikon,practica,m42 etc.
isco purchased complete lens from the different companies and with the exception of leica one most of the back optics where entry level spherical..many with rather bland odd shaped lens iris.
i have a spare back but it is practica mount i think or maybe pentax not nikon

wasting your time with those small gay iscoramas.
are over rated and overpriced i would dump it and buy this proper non gay iscorama.
you see kid in hollywood it has to be big cumbersome inefficient full of bullshit and lies with a hint of satanism.
introducing the real holylwood mk ultra iscorama
comes with a 100% bullshit and built lie guarantee.

very nice looking rig much better investment than the clown in the states selling 2kg projection optics as iscorama.
properly serviced these can be better than kowa bell howell less distortion as well.
very under rated optic these mollers not sure why they are just great.
nice job :)

the glass is the best of a shoddy bunch including the optex and century. panasonic clearly had superior quality control than the other 2 companies in these projects.
duclos could offer a sollution. what would you like a smaller metal version of what you have or one with some focus movement. at what financial price point does it become do able for the company and burst out laugh loud or shock for the customer. it is all possible. but it is always about the money. we live in a society built on mass production cheap nasty china shit and plenty of near slave labour.
it is all about penny cost not the value.
throw some cash my way and you can forget the duclos de click special company : )

zeiss really knew nothing about anamorphics like cooke they came to the party late.
those anamorphics where made by moller with a zeiss logo.
many other companies used that recipe it comes from hypergonar by chretien.
zeiss clearly are one of the legends of optics but a lot was taking other people concepts and making them better.
i have various zeiss labelled optics that where made by isco.
my guess was that they left most of it to moller maybe had some input on the coatings but even then mollers coatings are very zeiss like.
below is a vintage french lens

Ha ha, I gathered that from another thread, but I honestly thought you'd have sold them all by now, Tony. I'm using your awesome clamps, however. Either way, that's good to know and I'm a happy lobster.
shame as i could of done you a deal
one for 64p
2 for a pound

i have quite a few kowa and i say send it back to the ebay seller the sample i saw is bad it maybe can be repaired. buying a rough lens for 60 dollars and doing a diy job is one thing spending over 500 and getting flawed possibly messed with optic is another. it is not like this lens is that rare try a kowa bell howell.
that design was a compromise as it started as a projection then they made a version with shorter focal length internal cylindrical optics for camera.
it then became for projection and camera.
depending on the taking lens you do get quite a bit of barrel distortion. the movie anamorphics kowa did used a little more distance between cylindrical and also bigger size optics they give a nice flat field. each anamorphic was calibrated and designed matched to one focal length spherical lens.
the customer focus of kowa with the original design of the 8z was very much a 16mm and super 8 projection optic that could also be used with camera filming well. you will see even with high end anamorphics slight mismatch can occur check the sun flare lens halo. very slight amounts on edges at 3 secs in. http://vimeo.com/13863937

Sorry guys, the Tokina +0.4 is on its way to me now, going on the end of my Kowa. Just getting into Anamorphic, been waiting months for one of these to show up and was *this* close to buying tferradans' entire Kowa collection (see his other thread) just to get my hands on a +0.5.
My GH2 will be very happy, as will my BMC MFT... when it finally arrives.
months for a tokina achromat ?
i got some new ones and i am in london : )

have a couple of kinoptik close up +1 achromatic diopters. revamped simply stunning condition these have been made up from military and broadcast tv optics made in the 70s. probably the best +1 diopter in my street if not zer verld.
350 pounds each i have 2 for sale. this is not just for anamorphics this is really for guys with top notch spherical lens. 82mm thread size.
in diopter terms it really cannot get much better than this.
made in france, crown glass by schott (carl zeiss), flint glass by ohara best glass company in japan designed by kinoptik the masters of simple yet supreme quality optics.
these where in rough shape but have been polished, edge cut to fit into a new 82mm adapter and rebuilt.condition is amazing.
full refund guarantee. if you not super impressed.

they are all mega dealers all connected.
selling shit untested looks pretty but the filthy rotters will not or cannot ever provide proof that it works well.
they get mates to bid silly money then cancel transactions they then have benchmarks.
10k or best offer
at that price they could pay roger film is dead fucking deakins to test it for half a day and give the james bond camera shooters seal of sharp focus approval.
bunch of rotters
