We tried the non-debayered display, it didn't really help for focus on the built in screen although the other option (greyscale) did a bit. I don't think the non-debayered display can be activated over HDMI.... Can it? I am not aware of that. What they need is a sharper HDMI output and some better focus aids & exposure aids in my view. I am sure they will come in firmware updates. This is still early days and a first release product. Such a fun camera. Remember - NO camera is perfect.

Slow-mo at 60fps is better, the image is much sharper. Slow-mo at 96fps is ok for most stuff but you do notice the softness with wider shots and if the subject is quite far from the camera. 4K is the point of the GH4 for me. Slow-mo an unexpected bonus. 4K footage is very gradable... you will see. I have shot with every pic profile and will upload a comparison. I like CineLikeD the best. Next daily report is being prepared now, just need to finish editing the footage and wanted to do the Digital Bolex piece first, so have a bit of patience and good things will come to those who wait :)

The Digital Bolex has stumbled into the world. It is alive. Now it must find a place for itself. Most importantly of all - is this new replicant Bolex actually convincing? Time to find out. Read the full article here

The 50 1.2L has much better contrast and sharpness wide open than the Nikon. So it should do for the price. The great thing about the Canon L lenses is that they maintain character, along with their high technical standards. The bokeh on the shots above has a slight curve to it doesn't it? I like it. I can't wait to use my L glass with Speed Booster on the GH4 to get it closer to the 5D look. WHERE IS THAT ADAPTER!?!?????

Myself, Andrew Reid (above right) and Frank Sauer (be sure to check out his work here) are currently shooting with the Panasonic GH4! So the big question has arrived - is the GH4 worth kicking your girlfriend out of bed for at 5am to catch the magic hour light? The answer is yes and we are putting our new girlfriend through her paces with a week of action packed shooting, featuring free-runners, drones, gimbals, abandoned theme parks and apocalyptic Berlin factories. Here's day 1 of our GH4 production diary - Read the full article here

Canon 4K refresh - C200 and C400 coming at NAB?
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Absolutely. I'm talking about the TV crap not the TV "brilliant and creative" :) Clue is in the words. -

First post Adam. What was stopping YOU from saying it all this time? Or have you only joined to enjoy the fight? -
Canon 4K refresh - C200 and C400 coming at NAB?
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
You misunderstood me. I'm talking about the image aesthetics of the cameras. The C300 looks 'TV'. The GH4 looks like 'cinema'. You will see... -
Canon 4K refresh - C200 and C400 coming at NAB?
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Tim, feel free to stick to your TV crap and puny thin image, and I'll enjoy my raw and 4K cinematography tools for under $2k. Deal? -
Canon 4K refresh - C200 and C400 coming at NAB?

Then they ignore Keying, VFX, raw grading workflow. At least have the option... it's probably a 5 second firmware job :) -

Day rates are separate subject for a separate thread I think. -
According to a professional DP, Canon may in fact have some excitement for us in store at NAB. (Important to note this is a rumour and may just be speculation on behalf of my source). Read the full article here

Enjoying the nostalgia there :)

Some nice stuff on there, thanks Christina!

My experience with the 5D Mark II and ISO is that Canon kind of cheated a bit. ISO 1600 is more like 800 or 1250 on other cameras.

The Sony AX100 takes the relatively large 1" sensor from the RX10 and puts it in camcorder form factor with built in ND filter. However it appears that in reading out all the pixels on a 20MP sensor, Sony have created a skew-monster in rolling shutter teams. What's remarkable about this video is that the panning and trains aren't even moving very fast. This is some of the worst rolling shutter I've yet to see on any camera available on the market.
