  1. Wonder if Tim Apple thought the same thing about his customers before deciding to give the most divisive President in history a factory tour? Good to have a fact check. A proper one, not the Tory party one obviously. SO yeah, let's look at the facts. First let's define facts. That's for our Russian readers. Actually that got me interested... what IS the most commonly known fact about hedgehogs? ILLEGAL?????? Fuck me, you are carrying guns but can't carry a hedgehog? Anywhere where was I... Oh yeah, the truth, reality, actuality. Apple's factory was not opened by Trump today. Tim Apple gave him some easy to understand Apple propaganda on a tour, in an effort to stop Donald putting massive tariffs on all the stock coming in from China. A smart move from Apple, but at the risk of wading into politics. Sometimes better not to bother. It clearly pisses people off. Especially people who are constantly fed fake facts.
  2. From John Gruber (Daring Fireball): “This is how Apple chose to unveil the packaging for the Mac Pro — in a poorly-shot overexposed propaganda video by the White House, scored with bombastic music that sounds like it came from an SNL parody of a Michael Bay film. Think about how it feels to work on that team at Apple.” “A low moment in Apple’s proud history, and a sadly iconic moment for Tim Cook. I hope avoiding those tariffs is worth it.” BEAUTIFULLY GRADED! Apple’s latest ad is a brave new direction for the Cupertino tech giant’s brand. To celebrate, I have created the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT. The favoured look of the US President is perfect for factory tour videos or nationalist propaganda. The LUT has a muted, washed, bleached contrast with no life and no joy in it. So if that’s what your scene demands, be sure to use the EOSHD Tim Apple LUT today. Download the Tim Apple LUT (.cube format, free of charge, but at cost to your soul, 100% tested with Final Cut Pro X, Premiere and Resolve) "I Can't wait to see What you guys creates [sic] with this fantastic LUT" - Donald
  3. Psychologically three figures appeals more than 4. Although it's usually two figures I give to Canon.
  4. I would far rather shoot with the Fuji X-H1 in that price range. FAR more fun and much higher quality feel to it, much high-spec all-round.
  5. Yep he's a top bloke and knows his stuff. I am a bit jealous of that Cooke anamorphic in the video. Perhaps the stilted performance is down to internally thinking HOW we can make off with this lens afterwards. That's what I would be thinking.
  6. Incredibly close between these two. I have a Panasonic S1H with me at the moment, and am getting to know it. Meanwhile the Z-CAM, I had the briefest of hands-on at IBC and will be posting some footage from it. Both cameras are capable of 6K H.265 internal recording from a full frame sensor, and both are at the lower price-end of the pro-cinema market. Flannel Ninja’s video above goes into really in-depth detail about the two, so do give it a look. Read the full article
  7. It's pixel binning in full frame so rolling shutter should be ok. In Super 35mm I'm surprised it is 10ms, seems optimistic to me!?
  8. Thanks Keep the down-votes coming for these replicants, and I will get the forum to automatically ban anyone with -10 or lower reputation.
  9. Sony gave up on APS-C a long time ago I do like the APS-C Zeiss 24mm F1.8 though, nice rendering.
  10. Once again Sony fiddled with the colour science, so the whole thing has to be re-done. I bought an A6400, and started on it. Stay tuned for what happens next.
  11. His powers of prediction failed him here though: I counted 34 adverts on that single page by the way, all with who-knows how many tracking cookies. 43rumours is like if I collected up all the Vietnamese spambot content and promoted it to occupy 8 tenths of the EOSHD home page.
  12. Not yet, but definitely before the Russian interference report which names 9 Tory donors! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50366956
  13. Look at this pair of kitchen items having an argument http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/22998/olympus-closure-is-near-can-happen-in-less-than-8-months/ https://www.43rumors.com/fake-rumors-olympus-will-not-quit-the-camera-business-within-8-months/ Olympus shutting down apparently, according to our favourite GH2 ex-hacker. And 43rumours had the temerity to call someone out for fake news! ????????
  14. Jarred Land posted today on REDUser about REDCODE (RED’s compressed RAW codec) withstaning the patent challenge by Apple. Although the court documents haven’t been updated in public from what I can see, it does appears Cupertino have failed where Sony previously failed. Now the stage is set for some negotiations, with RED being in pole position. Read the full article
  15. Some nice shots from Steve McCurry here and interview https://www.leica-camera.blog/2019/11/06/steve-mccurry-china/ Panasonic can learn a lot from the Leica minimalist approach to designing the camera body.
  16. Solid... More like amazing. Very generous indeed for G9 users. First ever firmware update to change a camera from 8bit to 10bit, I think, no?
  17. Read the chart mate... It says there... C4K FF 4K 60p Long GOP 8bit internal. 10bit is only up to 30p.
  18. Big ole PDF on the camera from FDTimes here: https://2stxv23ezngh2b8peu3esf6u-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/98FDTimes-1.16-Leica-SL2.pdf • Frame rates for both C4K and UHD resolutions are 24, 25, 29.97, 50 and 59.94 fps at 10-bit 4:2:2. • Up to 29.97 fps, 10-bit 4:2:2 can be recorded internally onto an SD card. • 50 and 59.97 fps 10-bit 4:2:2 can be recorded externally via the full size HDMI output. • All 10-bit files can be stored in a .MOV container format at high data rates on the SD card with ALL-INTRA (low) com- pression. Every frame keeps all its information. This results in higher quality (but larger files.) • FHD is available up to 150 -180 fps, but only 8-bit. • The SL2 can record 5K in a 1.33:1 (4:3) aspect ratio in Super35 Crop Mode. This could be interesting for anamorphic lenses. Recording is 10-bit 4:2:0 on the internal SD card. (The HDMI output is not capable of 5K.) • The 10-bit 4:2:2 formats allow the use of Rec. 709, Rec. 2020 (HLG) and L-Log. Leica L-Log has been completely re-de- signed with improved characteristics. An internal and external LUT for preview is available. • The SL2 also offers more compressed 8-bit 4:2:2 Long-GOP files in Rec. 709 .MP4 containers for immediate distribution or proxy editing. THEY FINALLY FIXED THE LOG PROFILE The bitrate for ALL-I DCI 4K is 400Mbit 5K is 200Mbit 4:2:0 Long GOP (no ALL-I) No 5K over HDMI, it gets down-converted to standard 4K
  19. Recent high-profile criticism levelled at Leica, is that they’re becoming a 'software company' rehousing hardware from China and Japan. Although the Leica SL2 (“Made in Germany!”) uses virtually all of the internal hardware as the Panasonic S1R – sensor, EVF, stabilisation, along I suspect with most of the mainboard too and firmware programmed by Panasonic (with menus designed by Leica), I do feel it brings something very important to the artist’s table beyond numbers. 20. You are correct... And also the first posts are often cut & paste from Reddit, so I am doing Google searches now to screen those out. It's a pity the Google Captcha and email verification aren't enough to stop them creating an account in the first place. I'll see what else there is to make that more robust. One day I hope to leave my AI to fight off enemy AI, and leave us to get on with using the forum in peace!!
  21. Internet is going to be truly done for when AI progresses to next step. Maybe at some point they'll be so believable we'll all be rubbing our cameras in CBD oil.
  22. User acting suspiciously? They might be a replicant. Please report their username here and I will take them down.
