  1. Yes. Obviously. And? I said almost exactly that already in the same post that you quoted, but thank you for reaffirming, I guess.
  2. Excuse me, is that a 10-year old drone in your pocket or...
  3. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but some of the smoke signals from the Dolomites have been talking about the possibility of an upcoming Fuji X-M5. That put me in a rabbithole of "What other X-M" bodies were there? Seems to just be X-M1 previously, but then somebody mentioned that X-M series are X-Trans processor unlike the X-A series which have basically the same body, but Bayer sensor. That led me to learning about the X-A7 which looks really pretty tiny. According to the pictures on cameradecision, it's even smaller than the GX85 (barely - 3mm in each dimension, but surprisingly about 25% lighter). They're also not horribly expensive at about $600 used. Has anybody here used one / have feedback on it? I'm guessing not since I couldn't find any reference to it when re-skimming this thread (and putting x-a7 in the search box got no results). I'm just about to start poking around in YouTube to see if it's worth keeping an eye out for a good deal on a used one. I keep thinking about getting a little Fuji X camera as a daily carry sort of thing - maybe a really little one could be an option.
  4. Only if they intend to keep the prices at $5k and $7k for the Z mount version. If the goal were just to clear out stock, they'd do a big sale, similar to what DJI did with the full frame pocket a month or two ago. If not, they are radically overestimating the price premium a vast majority of users will pay. If they're planning a switch to Z mount, I'd guess that they paused nearly every product in development (or every, but if some were already through all the regulatory approvals, they'd be adding substantial delay and cost to recertify) and insisted that it switch to Z mount. If that's the case, then yeah - maybe the plan is to burn through stock before introducing the newer cameras and announcing EOL for the current ones - but shipping dates would still be months away. And FWIW, reducing the prices of the cameras is potentially more likely to drive people to the arms of Canon for lenses since it's pushing down more into the consumer/prosumer space and less into the "Which adapter do I need for my PL mount lenses, then?" space.
  5. Ah, sure. If we just make the pockets bigger, it will easily fit. If that's the case, my Mavic 3 Pro is also "pocketable." 😉
  6. Oh, finally... a drone with a microphone. 🤣 I'm not sure about fitting in the pocket - I can find no reference to it folding and see no indication in pictures that it could. If anything, I'd be worried that it'd catch on and become the next backpack-attached bluetooth speaker in terms of nuisances when hiking at parks.
  7. Someone should let them know that "like new" is supposed to apply to the condition, not the price! C'mon, give us the deals, MPB!
  8. Keep in mind that is after noise reduction is applied - and I think that neither the Alexa's 13.5-stop measurement nor the C70's 12.5-stop measurement included that. It would be useful to understand the numbers. Still, it looks to be enough of a boost over the R5 for me to do a trade-in once used bodies start hitting the market. 😃
  9. Announced. Hero 13 Black looks pretty incremental over 12. GoPro is going big on mods/accessories with it. ND and anamorphic lens mods could be interesting. Battery life seems improved, but not in a way that seems life-changing. Magnetic mount and charger are kind of neat. https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/learn/hero13black/CHDHX-131-master.html Hero 13... is small and otherwise uninteresting. Maybe the FPV folks will be into it.
  10. After a day or so, used prices on OG Komodo haven't shifted (still about $4k, about 20% off new - less of a deal than when it was 33% off new) and the only used K-X from a reputable store shifted about as little as possible (mpb dropped them from about $8,500 to $6,600-6,700 - wish them luck selling it for such a small difference vs new). I suspect it'll take a little while for used prices to normalize for both.
  11. It might be time to start specifying the SNR when talking about how many stops. The C70 definitely has more than 13 total stops. It has about 17 perceivable stops on a Xyla 21, but by SNR=2, it's only about 12.5 stops. One would assume that's where you are when saying Alexa Mini LF is 13.5 stops since that matches CineD's lab results (which is also where the C70 numbers are from). Basically every camera vendor except Arri lists the total perceivable number to describe their DR, not SNR=2. Plus as Gerald's video demonstrates, DR at a given SNR can also be a function of oversampling, noise reduction, and capture vs timeline resolution.
  12. It included a Kondor Blue cage, a timecode cable, and an XLR adapter (though they refunded me the used price of the XLR adapter since it wasn't included after all). That was the going rate for the K-X in May. I'm not too thrilled that the price dropped so much just a few months after I bought it, but since I intend to keep it for a good long time, I'm not super angry about the suddenly much lower resale value. The link is to one that's $3,598 from Adorama which I remember from looking earlier to see if they dropped yet is in "well-used" condition (aka pretty beat up, but still functional). And we'll see about the other brains - Scarlet and Red One were both already getting pretty cheap (brain-only), but a lot of the other bodies were really holding their used value when I got the K-X. I'd been thinking about getting one of the older VV bodies, but in the end realized that even if the brain was $2k cheaper than the K-X, by the time I got it ready to shoot with all the proprietary DSMC2 crap, it'd be within spitting distance of the K-X price-wise. Yes, in the form that was shown at conventions and listed on Adorama/B&H. Apparently there's still hope for... something, though the Komodo price drops might have obliterated that hope too. The E2-S6G was already a tough sell at an equal price to the Komodo. I can't imagine who would be buying it for more. The only reason I have one is that a user in Europe sold it to me for half the new price because he hadn't been able to find a buyer in Europe for months. He threw in some other goodies too (mounts, Z Back, etc). "I can't get anybody to buy this thing, not even for half price." "Half price, you say?"
  13. I was one of the first adopters of both the E2 and the E2-F6. It's hard to believe how long they've been out and how well their specs compare with just about any camera being released today. I still don't really understand the appeal of the F6 Pro, but the people who get it seem to like it. For me, an integrated screen and some different ports wouldn't be worth the extra money for a camera performing nearly identically to its predecessor. Anyway, the F6 is still a favorite and I love how it looks when paired up with Leica glass. One of the only bummers with my other cinema cameras being S35 now is that I really like how those lenses look on FF - completely irrational, but completely true!
  14. That's fair, though it's also somewhat par for the course with Z Cam. They tend to announce things and then go silent for a while, with just the occasional flash of the thing showing up at trade shows - and then suddenly they're shipping it. And I'm in the "believe it when I see it" category with every camera vendor, not just Z Cam. At least their upcoming product info tends to come from employees/partners and not from shacks in the Dolomite Mountains. 😉
  15. From what I've heard, the M5G isn't so much fully cancelled as it is searching for a new/different sensor. Apparently the sensor that they tried to use before had non-correctable color/profiling issues. https://www.facebook.com/groups/zcame2/posts/1637789306952008/ The person commenting on it in that thread (Yaroslav) runs their service department in the US so I'd take his statements as credible.
  16. Also, wish they'd drop V-Raptor [X] down to $10-15k new. If so, I'd definitely be going through all of my stuff to figure out what could be traded in. 🤣
  17. Well hot dang. The Komodo just dropped to $5k new and the K-X dropped to $7k new. Wish I'd known such a big drop was coming back in May when I spent $9k for a used X (technically less thanks to trading in other stuff at the time). The timing seems convenient with Pyxis test footage hitting the scene just a little while ago. https://petapixel.com/2024/09/03/red-slashes-price-of-komodo-and-komodo-x-cameras-by-up-to-30/ Once used prices catch up to the new pricing, my comment from the other day that if I had $4k in my pocket and were in RF mount, I'd get another used C70 might be revised. Now I'm more inclined to give a hard look to what I'm not using much and debate whether I want to trade something in for a used Komodo to use a s a B camera. Sheesh.
  18. If you're in the US and it's a public place, people have no reasonable expectation to privacy - so as long as the video isn't being made for commercial purposes, you most likely don't need permission.
  19. One thing in favor of the plastic RF lenses - the consumer primes are pretty cheap and they're really light. You can put together a pretty decent S35 kit (I use mine with the K-X if I go hiking) for not a lot of money. The 16, 35, and 50 cover the most-used focal ranges. Also, the RF 70-200/4 is really small for a 70-200. Like, it's shockingly small. Would any of them be the first lenses that I'd choose to bring on set? Hellll no. Would I bring them out for informal stuff or travel? Absolutely.
  20. Not nearly as much as you'd think - or at the very least, it depends on which RF lenses and what the goal is. If you're using Fujinon MK's, for instance, you'll be disappointed on FF. You're describing one of the best reasons to avoid the use of native RF-mount lenses. There are still excellent EF lenses and if you decide to change from Canon to Nikon, you only need to change out your EF adapter.
  21. With mechanical shutter, yes. With electronic shutter (and video), slightly better than the R5. Though either is close enough that it's unlikely to matter in most practical situations. As for me, if I had $4,000 in my pocket and I were considering R5/R5C/R5II, I'd... go get another used C70. 8K is nice for reframing, but the C70 is IMO so much better in usability, etc (though autofocus is definitely a bit behind the newer bodies). 😅
  22. Between the GH6 and the E2-S6, I'd say that the main considerations would be that the E2-S6 has a bigger S35 sensor. You can swap mounts on the E2-S6, but you can also adapt just about anything that can be purchased as a first-party mount for E2-S6 to Micro 4/3 anyway. The GH6 will be easier to use handheld (has IBIS), but the E2-S6 may be more suitable for rough usage (like mounting on a vehicle on a bumpy road) due to the lack of IBIS. If you won't already be using an external monitor, the E2-S6 will also cost a bit more since the 1" internal screen, while it has an option to show a preview, nobody is going to claim that's usable. You may also consider what happens if either camera breaks - will you be able to get service on either one in your country? One other camera to consider, if you are able to find one in your local market, would be the Fuji X-S20. It costs less than the others and also supports open gate at 6K.
  23. Early adopter penalty, sure, but I tend to think of that for things that wouldn't reasonably caught by a company doing basic QA on their products before shipping them. Losing basic settings like video resolution and screen preferences is bonkers and should be a huge embarrassment for Canon. For the price, the camera should be considered a professional tool and as such, the basic settings need to just work all the time.
  24. The Ronin 4D price dropped $400 in February because they chose to stop shipping it with internal ProRes RAW enabled. Now it's a separate add-on license for $979. I'm guessing that the old price was the "pay Apple for the PRR license" and the new cost is "pay Apple for the PRR license and pay Nikon/Red to license their patent." I'm not sure how many of the initial folks are still using it, but at least Josh Yeo really seems to like his and seems to still be using it for a whole lot of stuff. They also shot the majority of Civil War with it. I'd say that it's less of a bomb and more of a niche camera - and if DJI expected it to be anything other than that at $6800/$12000, they did a shitty job of market research and failed to pay attention to their own history. For me, the camera is interesting/tempting and at about $4k or less, it might be a buy, but I also look at it with side eye because I owned the original Osmo RAW and loved it, even with the jet engine sound made by the fan... but DJI basically fully abandoned it and the phone app to control it wasn't all that stable.
  25. It's not just back focus, but focus itself. If the FFD is right with the glass in place, removing the glass will remove your ability to focus to infinity. That's what happens if you take the glass out of either of the inline filter holders that I have here.
